@BeddieKU23 I would agree his stock hasn't been impacted by his injury yet. Key word there is yet though. If he sits out the rest of the season that won't be the case though and some front offices will have long term durability concerns along with questions on whether he will be overly cautious with injuries when he get to the NBA or if he will be willing to play through minor injuries in the playoffs. Maybe in some years that doesn't matter, but you have AJ with a similar long term upside and Boozer whose floor is probably a plus starter in the NBA. Even then it still depends on the team picking, but sinking money into an injury prone star is an easy way to take yourself out of running for a championship, especially with the new CBA. DP has plenty of reason to show this isn't going to be a lingering issue the rest of his career if he can.
Also add in that these players are aware that their marketability is important. Showing out in conference play and the NCAA tournament is the best way for DP to gain there.
Plenty of reason for him to play, and once his hamstring is fully healed not much downside to playing. Not like he is going to stop training/practicing leading up to the draft and there isn't a significant difference in injury risk between that and games.
-
It sounds like his hamstring is fully healed, right? Didn't Self say he would only play when 100%?
i'm no doctor, so i don't know if rest helps cramps, or drugs, water, salt??? -
Coach said he ran into DP in the hallway today as he was on his way to lift with the rest of the team. And that there was no practice Monday.
-
No Peterson tonight. Won't be the last time someone writes that this season
-
My son keeps asking to go to another game but Iām waiting to see what happens with DP before I look further into it
-
Saddest stat of the season so farā¦.. Darryn Peterson has played a grand total of 22 minutes in AFH.

I feel like things are getting more interesting or complicated with DP. Self finally admitting his family is the ones holding him out of games because he isnāt a 100%. Interesting from the stand point of he doesnāt say the KU training or medical staff is saying heās not ready but rather DP and his family. Oddly enough I ran into an old class mate that graduated from KU med school and is a sports physical therapist. We talked a bit tonight about this ordeal and said resting wonāt cure the tightness in the slightest and in most cases will make it worse. Heās wondering if he doesnāt have either something genetically wrong at this point or itās BS. The whole ordeal makes zero sense to him in the slightest. Iām starting to wonder if schools wonāt start making the players sign some sort of contract going forward. Not a lawyer but maybe the universities could starting suing the players for breach of contract. The pendulum has swung so far in favor of the athletes with the NIL itās crazy.
-
I hate to say it but after watching Darrion Williams play against us for NC State and hearing we couldnāt afford him. How damn good could this team be right now if we couldāve spend some money on guys that are actually going to play for us?
-
@kjayhawks2.0 I like our team.
-
We've unofficially known this was the situation for a while. They are simply protecting his brand and everything that comes with it. KU is just a pawn in this whole thing. It's not really about the game here it's about the business. It's certainly incredibly frustrating to see as a fan that a player so heavily invested in by the program is going give them jack squat in return (if he continues to sit). How do you think boosters feel that ponied up millions for this feel. Those are the ones that should really be pissed.
They are clearly gearing up to let him play again and see where it goes. We shall see
-
@BeddieKU23 Need contracts. He shouldn't be getting a dime right now. Should only be paid when he plays.

Imagine donating your hard-earned money to college-age kids for a sport. If that is your priority in life, I have ZERO pity for you. If you have money to blow, there are many more noble causes out there.
Sorry to all you young guys, but sports peaked about 25 years ago.
-
Does his family really think scouts like this? Boozer and dybantsa are BALLING right now and they don't have anywhere near the alleged family circus that DP has. I think most of us would probably think dybantsa's family would've been more annoying entering college but hey, they haven't said anything and he goes out there and drops 20 and 5 every night. I do agree that visually, he didn't look anywhere near 100% when he played NC State and Missouri(rim pressure was non existent compared to HS DP) but my guess is he could gut it out if it were the tournament
-
I just want to publicly state that whoever came up with the whole NIL program is probably the antichrist

@BigBad I sometimes wish that football were not a thing so that every other mens sport would get more funding. But that is not footballās fault or womens sportsā fault. Just tired of the money dictating everything.
-
I think DP is definitely injured to some extent he has not been even remotely explosive in a KU uniform. We just have to hope at some point he plays the game we are paying him millions to do. I still think as my PT friend has said playing on limited minutes and working thru the tightness is his best option. To me if he doesnāt start playing itās safe to label him and his family as thieves. They pretty much stole the NIL money at that point and should be held accountable for such IMO. Makes a guy wonder how the rest of the team feels about him. Iād be calling him a baby back B**** every day if I was on the team.
-
@kjayhawks2.0 imo you got it backwards. Last year I resented Hunter for PLAYING and getting paid millions to be completely meh while we had a top 5 big on the bench behind him.
I donāt think anyone should resent DP for not playing to date because if anything it has allowed other guys larger minutes and opportunities to showcase and grow at a Blue Blood, and we have the right guys to make that a good thing.
This wonāt hold true all season but to date I dont see any reason guys should be negative about DP

Yup, this pretty much sums up my thinking. the whole ordeal makes no sense. Somethingās amiss and us fans are getting the runaround. If heās truly injured in some way, I respect that. Heal up. But cramps are not an injury (if itās cramps). Thatās an imbalance in your body. Shouldnāt take a team of scientists to sort that out. Players are competitive and wanna play. Weirdness.
