@benshawks08 this is a fantastic underexplored point: all season long many of assumed that the reason the team had no chemistry with DP was because they deferred to him and that time would solve this problem (if we were optimistic) or that DP was a prima donna, or everyone else on the team was a midmajor wuss and thats why the chemistry wasnt there (if we were not).

But maybe in actuality they were all worried for the kid or weirded out by the situation. Maybe no amount of extra time on the court was going to fix it because the lack of an explanation hung over every play.

This makes way more sense than assuming there was something wrong with individual personalities regarding the lack of a cohesive team identity.

Best wishes to Darryn for a great career with the Utah Jazz. I don't follow the NBA but I remember Greg Ostertag (now Mayor Ostertage) playing there.

Wish darryn ended up in a better market. Think he will be gone before the end of his second contract(out of choice to him, not because of his play). But wish him the best

Anybody else think of Jaybate when you read "rookie shoe deal"? I did and had a good laugh.

Darryn Peterson's Summer League debut did not disappoint 🔥
His 28 points were the third most by a Top-2 pick over the last 10 seasons, and the most in their SL debut over that span.

12 assists. Good to see DP learned how to pass the ball. Its a shame he never figured it out with us

I have a feeling passing on Peterson for Dybantsa, who will be an All Star, will not age well.

I’m happy to see him doing well, fairly disappointed in some of the negativity Jayhawk nation has shown him on social media. It stinks that he didn’t do some of this stuff here for sure but I just don’t understand the logic against rooting against this young man.

You could be right. I always heard that DPs game was a perfect fit for the NBA, more than Dybantsa or Boozer. I think this will really show through in summer league, where no one plays defense or even knows what defense is. Watch DPs highlights. Looks like high school defense against him. It's like he went back to high school. Let's pass judgment after he makes it through a real season. Defense starts happening in late spring. Also... can he play through injuries? That same question is valid for all 3 comparison guys. It should be fun watching these guys translate their game to the league!

I smell a run! (better buy more toilet paper)

I watched this one to check out the hype. DP was ok. He was bumped and defended hard all game. Made a few nice shots. One from way deep at the buzzer! He was sloppy though. Same issue tonight we saw at KU? Didn’t pass well out of a double team or when pressed. Looks like teams have decided to push him around, see how he reacts. One very dumb reaction when blatantly pushed — he got frustrated and got caught shoving a dude.

AJ looked pretty good. Crowd liked him.
