@kjayhawks2.0 thats fair. He does give us an extra scoring dimension that is critical though. At least teams have to plan for him. Def want him locked in.

@kjayhawks2.0 We can beat teams on a one off without him, but to make a sustained long tournament run, we'll need him firing on all cylinders. Without DP, the only true trusted ball handler would be Melvin. He was GASSED by the end of the Arizona game

@rcjhdraft there’s no question the ceiling of this team is much higher when DP plays how he is capable. Not sure anyone would disagree. We’ve got a new week here and some winnable games. I’m just hoping to see a renewed DP and team that is ready to make a charge for the conference championship and a good seed for March. I won’t give up on DP till the season ends. I’m 50/50 right now on if they should shut him down til the conference tournament, if he can get his legs back and mindset right, I’d be okay with it.

@kjayhawks2.0 I want him to play because I feel like this issue only gets better if he plays more games honestly. The chemistry is sometimes lacking on the court and he needs to build up stamina. We've seen his cramps reemerge whenever he misses a few games

That is quite a stat for someone who can jump like him.

@bskeet To be fair Elmarko and Jamari have a combined total of 6 so I do understand their role may not be crashing the offensive glass.

@bskeet @wissox83 him averaging 3.9 rebounds isn’t super hateful IMO. He obviously is capable of having much more like the first half of the BYU game he had 3 rebounds and 3 assists in 18 minutes. It’s all about how aggressive he wants to be that game. Offensive rebounds sometimes is a tell tell of what the coaching wants. Usually a few guys are told to get back while the others fight on the offensive glass.

Tonight DP was 1st one back on defense...except when he got that offensive board.

Very happy with DPs performance tonight, was engaged on both ends. Had a steal and a nice block, hustled after his miss drawing a foul. Would’ve loved to see him play a touch more but I’m good with this. I expect this beyond shooting great or anything else, just be engaged young fella.

A friend had an alternate theory on DP that I hadn’t heard.

He’s simply bored with college ball.

Eh, it's pretty easy to tell when he doesn't have it in the second half. Nowhere near the same amount of explosion or desire. If he doesn't operate out of one ball screen in the first 3 minutes of the second half the legs are usually gone. And he always retreats to the corner.

Team energy noticeably increased from the rest of the guys when they realized he wasn't coming back in...

Listening to Self post game and he didn’t sound too pleased with the situation. Said he thought we were past this and he was a full go. Talked about how in the tournament we need our best players on the floor to win against good teams.

That’s kinda the issue I have is we get better play from others when he isn’t on the floor at times. Such a weird situation. Like I said I was pleased with the first half from him. We have just got to to figure out how to get two half’s like that out of him. We are quickly running out of time.

@kjayhawks2.0 Because he probably thinks DP can play through it. His camp doesn't. I don't blame Bill for being tired of it. Who's ever seen a player who can't play an entire half because of cramps.

I think all good teams have some tension. Its like gluten holding together a good bread, sometimes the taste is worth the negatives. Its how you manage that tension that makes a team ordinary or great. So far we get an A for how we’ve managed it. Tension is like sand to a clam, ya dig?

We just have to hope when the season is on the line he is a full go similar to a Remy Martin situation. @approxinfinity I give a ton of credit to Self and this team for how they have handled it. Would be very easy for a a teammate to call him out publicly and in practice.
