From now on...

From now on, let's only recruit players that do this! No one is going to convince me this is staged and the guys are only here for a paycheck!
This is quickly becoming one of my favorite all-time Jayhawk teams, and that is regardless of their March performance!

@drgnslayr recall that when Flory was shopping around (rightfully so) and most of our roster was in flux DP presented an unshakeable front about coming to KU saying Bill had nothing to worry about. Flory decided to return, a conscious choice that he wanted to be here, and genuinely looks like he is having fun. As the faces of the program and also the most talented players, they are core to this teams identity. I also give Vaughn a lot of credit. The players seem to be playing with less pressure and more joy. I think Vaughn is the x factor.
You cant have your highest paid players be the least athletic or the biggest headcase on the team. This team is structured correctly in a way the guys can feel good and play for each other.

I think Melvin is also a piece of that joy. He seems to always be having such a good time. His joy is infectious. He may be that rare transfer who makes it on to my favorite Jayhawks list.

Seeing the joy this team is playing with so far really makes you look back at the last two years and ask what the heck happened in that locker room. So far this group seems to enjoy playing with each other and that's a good thing as we get into the meat of the season where that chemistry and comradery will matter most.

I think Hunter was the problem from the last two years. He was hated by so many other schools because he fed into the hate. I don't think he was a positive for our team. Sports is spiritual based. We talk alot about "team play" and that requires the group of guys coming together. Self praises this team for their cohesion... they have girlfriends but would rather hang with the fellas. Melvin has been a fuse for an explosion of good for this team!

Oh I agree about Hunter, he was the catalyst to our internal issues. I'm not sure he was the only one from last years squad though. There were several that also contributed to it. Im glad this bunch is looking like vintage Self teams from a chemistry and team aspect.
