11 Point Underdog to Iowa State-OUCH!!

I watched a bit of the OU/I-State game. The Iowa State offense is competitive, but they were playing at home. I blame being big underdogs at home to the other last place team on our coaching staff’s failure to develop a quarterback. Identify the QB with the best arm and teach him not to turn the ball over. Maybe, that’s Carter Stanley, but it seems late in the season to still be trying to identify the best quarterback to give us a chance to beat Iowa State. This game is a must win for us.

@stoptheflop I SERIOUSLY don’t try to be “that” guy, but we should be thankful that it’s only 11 points. ISU is not that bad. Compared to us. They’ve had four or five games that were lost by 4 - 10 points ( too early to look it up, but it’s something like that). And face it - it’s going to be hard for us to win a game, regardless of our competition when we’re not deep on defense and have no quarterback.

@stoptheflop @nuleafjhawk I think this game goes one or two ways, a close KU victory or a Murder bye ISU. Ku also has played tight games. If kansas can play the whole game like the second half last week or second vs OHIO or the first 3 vs TCU they can win. ISU doesnt have the athletes like us that most the B12 has.

@kjayhawks i can’t buy into us having tight games. Sure, we can hang our hat on the one point loss to TCU, but besides that, the only other loss less than 20 was to Ohio. Not the one with the word State after it. Losses by 36 (twice) 42, 24 , 53 and 27. Those were that close because the other teams were playing some of their reserves. Having said all that, I do feel like we’re making improvements. We’re scoring some. We’re hanging in games longer than we used to. It’s going to take some time, but we still need a few key players. Starting with QB.

@nuleafjhawk I agree but ISU also has been spanked by 39 to Iowa, 21 bye Texas (only scored 6), and 21 bye TCU. Getting beat bye 20 plus is a route IMO. They have yet to play WVU or TT, which i think will be routes. They dont play well on the road our strong point is defense theirs offense. Im not saying we will win but no excuses not to IMO.

OU also was without their best player in Mixon as well as a few starters on defense. FBI gives us a 25% chance I say closer to 40%

@JayHawkFanToo Exactly what im saying we can play well, just have to put it together to win a game. ISU and Texas arent good teams just like us. They are both home games no excuses to not get a win in one of these games.

KU does not have the depth…yet…to play a complete game. Once the backup go in the level goes down quite a bit. This is why it takes a while to re-built a football team; you need a lot of capable bodies. In basketball you get 4 or 5 good players and a few capable backups and you have decent team; in football you need more like 40-50 decent players.

@nuleafjhawk I agree with you - -we are getting better believe it or not. – I think especially on the defensive side - -ya opposition racks up some big numbers in the end sometimes BUT a lot of that has to do with our inept offense, too many 3-outs don’t care who you are if your offense can’t substain any drives, your defense is going to wear down, spending too much time on the field. - -Got to get an O-Line AND QB. - -I still think our future QB is redshirting this year dual-threat, until then I thinkl Stanley has earned his shot - -what’s it going to hurt? - - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY
