Will LUCAS AND DEVONTE BE THE STARTERS IN KOREA?
Will Svi and Diallo even play against Canada in the two exhibition games?
Lucas will start. This summer of strength training and his ability to be very good with the fundamentals of a big man will make Self very comfortable with him in that position.
Mari might start if Perry moves to the three and Mari improves offensively like he did towards the end of the season.
Minutes will be shared and someone fresh and different with a completely set of different skills will give Coach so many options. If Diallo can absorb instruction half as well as JoJo the he will start sooner than later.
What can Brannen do to rehab after hip surgery? Svi has been offered the position on a silver platter. If neither can do it, then Devonte will be on the court with Frank more often than not.
We are more up in the air about this season’s starters after Korea than ever before. Having Svi and Diallo to practice against will make those who are playing much better as the summer of free practices go on. The edge that Kentucky got last year by playing national teams before the season now will help the Jayhawks hit the ground running with more of an understanding for all on both sides of the ball. I don’t want to be embarrassed in Korea, but whatever the outcome, the Jayhawks will be much better off in understanding the system of Coach Self.
I never thought Frank and Devonte would start together.
@wrwlumpy You are probably right.
Selden could play the 3 with Greene and Svi out.
Backcourt of Graham and Mason.
Lucas gets the go ahead at the 5 since Bragg won’t be up to speed and Diallo can’t play.
I assume they will play in the Exhibition games. Can’t believe that they would be held back from those as they are not apart of the WUG.
Lucas has the chance to solidify a spot in the rotation this summer. I see him starting in Korea, unless Self roles with Bragg.
I had to check to make sure I wasn’t losing it but are we talking about the same Mari that scored 3.8pts per game in his last 5?? Yeah he had 2 good games in March and before that a terrible stretch. We will never be able to rely on him for offense. Not having Diallo in Korea will remind us one last time why there was such great urgency to get Diallo and push Traylor to 5th big.
If they are not eligible to play, they might not be able to participate in the prep games either…I just don’t know, maybe some one has an answer???
@BeddieKU23 I am ok with Lucas solidifying a spot in the rotation if he somehow makes a huge leap over the summer. If he is a similar version to last season I would not mind if he does not play much at all behind Diallo and Bragg.
Assuming no Brown, Lucas and Graham do start for the summer games.
But during the season, Svi and Diallo (after Traylor starts the first few games).
OMG! Traylor starting at the 5 again. Yeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaawwww. Help me, help me, help me, I think I am going insane!
I know it is a fantasy, but wouldn’t it be cool if the Jam Tray did one of the Damn Yankees kinds of things and made a deal with the devil and became a consummate trey baller–the most evil kind of stretch 5 to Bill Self imaginable.
What a moral crisis this would create for Self!!!
The angel on his right shoulder is saying, “Bill, your personsal project Jamari, has been given the gift of being able to shoot 42% from trey for a season, so you must start him at the 5.”
The devil on Bill’s left shoulder, who looks exactly like the devil that Jamari made the deal with at midnight outside the campanile, says, “Bill, you dare not play Jamari for he is a stretch-5 that will shoot trey ball without any ball movement at all. You must bench him and play only players at the 5 that will never take a trey.”
Self’s veins bulge.
His palms his face like the figure in Edvard Munch’s “The Scream.”
It is an existential crisis.
Self finally resolves the crisis this way.
He lets Jamari take all ten of the teams capped number of treys each game.
Then @HighEliteMajor and @jaybate 1.0 palm their faces and…
