Old Stinky Bball Shoes Worth $200 Mil...

  • James Harden agrees to $200 million shoe contract with Adidas

The entire game of basketball is being driven by ShoeCos.

  • @drgnslayr The entire world is being driven by greed.

  • @nuleafjhawk And the lust for power.

  • @nuleafjhawk @KUSTEVE

    Thank you… and thank you!

  • Two pet peeves of mine: people who text and drive and the asinine salaries of professional athletes. My biggest pet peeve - asinine professional athletes who text and drive. Sorry.

The last Chiefs game I went to was about 6 years ago. It cost me over $500 for four people. That was tickets, parking and 4 hot chocolates. And we froze our asses off. It was about 16 below at kickoff. No joke. That was the last pro game I went to of any sport and will probably be the last. What does it cost to go to a Royals game for a family of 4? At least a hundred bucks, I’m sure. That is pure, straight out BS. But we keep paying it, so they’ll keep charging it. I’ve finally figured out that I’m more comfortable watching it at home. For free. And I can go to the restroom and not miss 1/4 of the game. I can charge myself nothing for a sandwich and pop. And I can park in my drive for free.

My wife and I lived in Houston in the late 70’s to late 80’s. We probably took in 30 Astro’s games per year. It was 2 or 3 bucks for outfield tickets, a couple of bucks for beer and seems like it was a buck or two for a hot dog. Two of us could take in a game for way less than what it costs to park now.

I know none of my ranting will change things, but it does make me feel a little better. My advice - boycott the games until the prices come down.

  • @nuleafjhawk

    I hear you.

I mostly go to NBA games and a few Jayhawk games. I try to catch some NBA every year… but I carefully buy tickets on website carefully. I usually get a decent NBA ticket for around $20. It might be in the nose bleed section, but all the arenas have big vid screens.

I haven’t been to a Chiefs game for about 3 years. The parking fees are an outrageous rip off. The bud I always goes with hates to pay so we usually park outside the parking lot in a secret location nearby and then we walk up to the stadium. It is a big ripoff.

Tonight I’m going to my first Royals game since back in when they had Brett and won the World Series. The World Series was the last time I went back in '85!

  • @drgnslayr My son is going to the game tonight!! He’s not a big sports fan, but a couple of his friends got $10 tickets somewhere and they’re going early to tailgate. Have fun!

  • I am going to be able to take in many many many games from here forward for the rest of my life! My Wife and I will be completely debt free in a month! Vacation here I come! We are moving to our new home very soon and I am so excited I need some downers to keep friends and family from sending me to the nut house!

  • @nuleafjhawk One of my favorite sports quotes. Reporter to Babe Ruth: “Do you think it’s right that you make more money than the president?” Babe Ruth: “I had a better year than he did”.

  • @Statmachine you should just go voluntarily!!

  • @Statmachine

“My Wife and I will be completely debt free in a month! Vacation here I come!”

That put a smile on my face! Congrats!

  • I am ready for next spring because I will officially have a chunk of land to start my first garden. We have plans to plant a variety of fruit trees, nut trees and some grapes too! We are going to start making wine and beer with the produce we grow at our new ranch! We have already planned a cruise for spring break next year. My kids will both be out of the house in 2 years so I will need some new activities to keep my self busy lol.

  • @Statmachine congrats!! Enjoy!

  • @Statmachine

That sounds awesome! I’m a big garden guy. Built 9 big garden boxes (4’ x 16’) in my back yard and also a couple rows of 8-ft fence wired beds to grow vines (beans, cucumbers, etc). This year I have 90 tomato plants, 50 pepper plants, 30 eggplant, beans, cucumbers, squash, and I keep going with my horseradish, a perennial! Love that horseradish! I have several grape vines, but I have a vine that doesn’t produce grapes. We eat the leaves… Perhaps you’ve had grapeleaf roles? I use the leaves in several dishes. Very tasty and a definite “super food” nutritionally.

I heavily advise building boxes. You can build your own soil that way and it is very easy gardening! You don’t have to squat all the time, and if you go up 12-inches (like I did) rabbit tend to stay out of it! I built my boxes out of 2x12 untreated lumber. You don’t want treated lumber. It will leach toxins into your soil. I painted the outsides white to help keep them cooler in summer. Screwed in some metal corners for rigidity. Also added a cross member half way to give it more support. I’ve had some of these boxes 5 years now and I suspect I’ll get another 5 years or more out of them.

The brown barrels are a composting machine and I have a fenced compost pile. Next year I want to add a chicken coop that also lets the chickens visit the compost pile to dig for bugs.

  • That’s pretty cool I might have a few questions at some point. I will post some pictures of my new place next month when we move in. 640 acres of country! I drove out there this weekend and saw deer, axis, wild boar, turkey, quail, and dove all on my place. There is a big pond with largemouth bass and a creek running through my property.

  • What all goes in the barrel besides leaves and grass clippings?

  • @Statmachine

That is one square mile…that is one big property.!!!

  • @Statmachine

“What all goes in the barrel besides leaves and grass clippings?”

Kitchen scraps. It is said not to put meat in them, but I’ve had some in mine. Since they are off the ground the waste isn’t accessible to critters. Egg shells, watermelon rinds and coffee grinds are common things i put in mine. Each day you should turn it a couple times. Make sure it is still moist inside. If I don’t feel like opening up the doors, I just rotate the vents to the top and run a hose in them for a few seconds then turn. It works very fast. I have beautiful dark, rich compost usually within 5 or 6 weeks. The chain fence compost area is more or less a seasonal mix. But it is great to have that much space to dump stuff. Making compost is perhaps the “most spiritual” task I do. Feels good to help nature rebuild a little bit.

My goodness… why don’t we just trade places? Your garden beds will be all ready for you! 😉

Your property sounds amazing! I’ve always dreamed of having a piece of heaven like that… especially, with water!

We bought a big fixer-upper house about 5 years ago. We have almost completed the restoration. We are fixing the pool in back now. It has an old concrete pool that was put in back in the 70s. This house was a foreclosure and everything had been let go, including the pool. So we ripped out the old plumbing and are updating it and patching a few spots. Also adding in some features. I wanted to rip the entire thing out and dig in a bigger nature pond in the back. Thought it would be amazing to be able to go in my backyard and fish out some tilapia for dinner! My wife fears snakes and spiders… but I made her promise that the next house will be done my way!

  • @JayHawkFanToo We got a sweet deal on it! Paid cash!

  • @Statmachine I forgot where you lived, in Kansas? I know you went to school in maize.

  • @Statmachine

Ah yes, cash is a big motivator. Best of luck with it…:)

  • @Crimsonorblue22 I now live in Texas.
