Darryn Peterson

Bill on hawk talk said Darryn was sick against Utah. The least surprised I have ever been as he looked terrible that game for the most part.
Would make sense that he was for sure, interesting he just didn’t sit out they one and try to rest for Monday. All in the past now focus forward to Saturday.
-
Definitely went on the defense for Peterson during his presser. We know Self, he's defended his players his whole career & it's something I hope Darryn appreciates given the situation.
If this team wasn't winning with/without him in the lineup this situation would likely have even more heat. I have my opinions on the matter but not worth going over. Hopefully he plays Saturday and the games after that. He's still got a lot to prove in a KU uni

I won't go so far as saying I feel bad for Darryn, because being blessed with his level of talent, getting to play for a blue blood, and making millions of dollars is very good hand that he was dealt. I will say that I'm sure he is frustrated with his own ailments and the reactions of the ignorant fanbase must add salt to the wound.

I see the DP PR blitz is in full swing this week. Sadly I think it was a welcome change to the vague defenses all have been offering up to now. Let’s hope none if it is needed moving forward. Here’s to your health, DP!
-
This was a similar DP to what I saw Saturday, just going thru the motions with little effort. We are a better team without him going forward if this is the type of effort he is going to put forth. I’ve been very patient with him but this is disappointing to see. Just quit if you don’t want to be here dude. Boozer and Wilson play hard, we have got to start recruiting the right guys. We did good in the portal this year but our prized recruit is just here to be here.
-
@kjayhawks2.0 Yeah I'm turning on him. Did see a post somewhere about ISU grabbing him all game without fouls being called. I dunno, it wasn't super convincing. I turned game off so I missed the blowout portion, but he took himself out?
-
I think Self took him out.
-
@kjayhawks2.0 Wilson broke his hand going hard and will likely miss tournament

-
Not going to turn on the kid for one bad game. Even future superstars need teachable moments. Go Bill go!
-
@approxinfinity I’m not trying to hate on the young man but we just beat the number 1 team without him. We also barely lost to UConn without him. Maybe he still wasn’t feeling great not sure but I stand by my statement that if he isn’t going hard, it hurts the team.
-
@kjayhawks2.0 thats fair. He does give us an extra scoring dimension that is critical though. At least teams have to plan for him. Def want him locked in.
-
@kjayhawks2.0 We can beat teams on a one off without him, but to make a sustained long tournament run, we'll need him firing on all cylinders. Without DP, the only true trusted ball handler would be Melvin. He was GASSED by the end of the Arizona game
-
@rcjhdraft there’s no question the ceiling of this team is much higher when DP plays how he is capable. Not sure anyone would disagree. We’ve got a new week here and some winnable games. I’m just hoping to see a renewed DP and team that is ready to make a charge for the conference championship and a good seed for March. I won’t give up on DP till the season ends. I’m 50/50 right now on if they should shut him down til the conference tournament, if he can get his legs back and mindset right, I’d be okay with it.
-
@kjayhawks2.0 I want him to play because I feel like this issue only gets better if he plays more games honestly. The chemistry is sometimes lacking on the court and he needs to build up stamina. We've seen his cramps reemerge whenever he misses a few games
-
@rcjhdraft that is true prefect world he is able to play the rest of the year and we start to mesh as a team right now.
-
7 offensive rebounds for DP in the entire season.

That is quite a stat for someone who can jump like him.
-
@bskeet To be fair Elmarko and Jamari have a combined total of 6 so I do understand their role may not be crashing the offensive glass.
-
@bskeet @wissox83 him averaging 3.9 rebounds isn’t super hateful IMO. He obviously is capable of having much more like the first half of the BYU game he had 3 rebounds and 3 assists in 18 minutes. It’s all about how aggressive he wants to be that game. Offensive rebounds sometimes is a tell tell of what the coaching wants. Usually a few guys are told to get back while the others fight on the offensive glass.
