PERRY ELLIS SMILED !!!

  • I’m not just talking about the kind of little grin that you see when you pass gas in a crowd, it was a REAL smile !

Other signs of life in Crimson and Blue:

After 13 1/2+ games, I finally saw what I was looking for in this team. At @ the 6:10 mark of the second half - Ellis, Embiid an Selden ALL diving (not just frolicking) after a loose ball. I literally jumped off the couch (scared the CRAP out of my wife) and hollered.

Selden had a breakout offensive game.

SOOOO glad to see Connor Frankamp get some quality minutes. He made a couple of nice shots, got a couple of rebounds and most importantly, didn’t throw the ball away. I thought he played extremely well in a very important game on the road.

I know all of our problems are not solved yet, but I feel a whole lot better than I did four days ago.

BTW - I’m * OVER * Jay Bilas. Listening to Jay Bilas is like kissing your sister. You only enjoy it if you’re from Missouri.

  • @nuleafjhawk I’m thrilled, a lot of room for improvement, but it’s a road win. Guess we can back off selden! Clock management is another weakness. Fouls r driving me nuts!

  • @nuleafjhawk are u watching osu game? Clark is playing, one game suspension?

  • @nuleafjhawk, I made the same observation on Jesse’s live blog. I saw him smile twice! Real joy expressed, not just a painful passing gas kind of smile. It was nice to see.

  • @Crimsonorblue22 Just watched Missery lose to Georgia and their 26 game home win streak get snapped. 😉

  • @RockChalkinTexas great news!

  • @nuleafjhawk I believe the “T” Coach Self got was the key; KU went on a 13-0 run after that and never looked back.

  • Guess we can back off selden!

@Crimsonorblue22 Well… what if the heat from the posters on this site was the thing that lit a fire in him? Maybe you all deserve a little credit 😉

  • @bskeet now if we can inspire Wiggins? I refuse to buy he doesn’t care or is lazy! Any thoughts?

  • @Crimsonorblue22 - One strike against him - the HYPE. The only man on earth that could have lived up to that kind of hype was Wilt.

Having said that, I’m as disappointed in him as any player since - oh heck, you know the two players I’m going to name so I won’t say it. I mean, if he had any other name besides Andrew Wiggins, we’d be drooling over this kid. But, in my opinion, he has played no where near his potential and that’s why we’re all wondering what’s going on with him.

I hope Perry starts getting some of the credit he deserves.

  • @Crimsonorblue22 : A ONE game suspension!!! Well I was way off when I said it would be a 4 game suspension so he could come back just in time for the KU game. Maybe osu’s CBA reads that you can only be suspended one game for possession of drugs (especially if you’re trying to win the conference and we’ve already lost a conference game and we need the player to play so we don’t fall any further behind…)

  • Nuleaf, I noticed you mention your wife a lot. Does she tolerate your KU fanaticism as long as you mention her regularly in your comments? Mine doesn’t, I have to linger on this site when she’s not looking. When she looks I have the Wall St. Journal ready to pop up on the screen.

  • @wissoxfan83 - lol. Well, I’ve been married 35 years this June, been together 39 total, and we hang out together a lot, so I guess she provides me some material. She likes KU and will watch and go to games with me, but she’s not a fanatic like most of us.

As long as she tolerates my antics, I guess I’ll keep her around. (She can look at anything I write, except stuff like this)

No honey - I’m playing Bejeweled, I’m not on kubuckets right now…

  • @nuleafjhawk - Man… I did the same thing. I jumped out of my seat on that first scrum where 3 Jayhawks went after the ball on the floor. I thought I was watching a Shocker game for a minute! 😉 But seriously… I let out a holler, too.

I also noticed Perry smile. I also noticed Wayne exposing a happy crack, too!

God forbid these guys actually have fun during games!

“BTW - I’m OVER Jay Bilas. Listening to Jay Bilas is like kissing your sister. You only enjoy it if you’re from Missouri.”

That quote needs to be taken to the mountain and carved in stone! Please, please… go put that comment on the quotes thread we are saving indefinitely for future reference!

  • I couldn’t help but think the entire game how happy I was Jay Bilas was calling it and how much I enjoyed his commentary. If you don’t like Bilas who DO you like? There literally is not one comment I can recall that I disagreed with or didn’t appreciate.

  • @iowajayhawk2005 Did you mean that seriously? I am going home to watch the game and I want to know if I should like JB’s commentary or not…

HEY I just figured out something: Jay Bilas = JB = jb = jaybate! We’ve never seen them together either! The same guy goes long on KUBuckets and short on Twitter, pretends to hate Coach K here and love him there.

Someone needs to pull down Bilas’ pants and check when was the last time he changed his drawers.

  • @iowajayhawk2005 - I’ve liked Bilas’s commentary until this year. He seems extraordinarily condescending towards Bill Self and KU in general.

    Conversations from last night’s games:

Dave FLemming: " Wow, Jay, Wayne Selden is on fire tonight! "

JayB : " Wayne Selden maybe could possibly be a good player someday, under the right circumstances. He’ll never be a threat to shoot the 3 pointer - look how far back he brings his arms over his head. That’s playground ball right there. "

DaveF: " Kansas is playing some hard nosed ball right now! Look at Perry Ellis, Joel EMbiid and Wayne Selden ALL diving for that ball. "

JayB: “It is indeed nice to see some hustle from these Jayhawks. Although, rather than diving on that ball and wasting a precious timeout, Selden should have bent over, put his left leg adjacent to his body, thrown his left arm up over his body in some sort of ballerina formation, then when the ball was 1/32” from going out of bounds, he could have grabbed it with his right hand, swung the ball around his back and through his legs and hit Frank Mason for an alley-oop. I know he’s young, but he’s going to have to learn these things if he wants to help this team."

DaveF: " These Jayhawks are gassed ! They’ve played their hearts out here at Lloyd Noble Arena and should be very proud of themselves. Jay, look how every single player on the bench is drinking water right now!!"

JayB: " That’s one of the big problems with this year’s Jayhawks - they don’t know how to hydrate properly. You’d think with all the health and nutrition facilities in the Lawrence and Greater Kansas City area, that someone, somewhere would have taught them how to drink properly. For maximum hydration it should be two small sips - THEN a gulp. Not the other way around. I can’t believe that someone on this staff of great basketball minds hasn’t taught them that yet. But they ARE young. "

** Note - not actual ESPN2 conversations between DF and JB - but it’s not that far out of the realm of possibility **

  • @nuleafjhawk really funny!

  • @nuleafjhawk Our brand name is much bigger than any two bit announcer. Bigger than Dicky V, Jay Bilas, Doug “the rug” Gottleib, bigger than Elvis, and in my humble opinion, bigger than the Beatles, or Slim Whitman. We are the Kansas Jayhawks, a world class basketball franchise that needs no endorsement from anyone. There are people from Misery U who actually watch KU basketball, just so they can see what a real world class basketball team looks like. If KU could talk, it would say " all the ladies call me big’un, and all the men call me sir". It is simply a privilege that Bilas gets to watch us play. Now maybe Jay doesn’t realize that, but we do. And that’s all that’s important.

  • @KUSTEVE you are also funny, I do love the Beatles!
