KC & Chitown Fight Nite
-
Haha you guys are cracking me up. I was able to make it to one KU game and I was fortunate enough for it to be the WVU game. Phog Allen was alive and well that night.
@brooksmd open another bottle and save some slices for me!
-
@VoyagingJayhawk Put 2 slices in the fridge for breakfast.
-
@brooksmd How do you like living down there in Louisiana? Had a friend that left after Katrina and went back as soon as he could for school, said he couldn’t imagine ever leaving the state again. About how I feel about Kansas believe it or not!
-
@VoyagingJayhawk It’s alright. I had planned when I retired from the AF to go to western Colo, Mont, Idaho, somewhere in that area. That all got trashed when I met my wife about a year before I retired. I was at Hurlbert Fld, FL and her Air Guard unit from Nawlin’s trained with us for 2 weeks. So here we are. She spent Katrina in the Superdome while me and my son rode it out here at the house.
-
@brooksmd whatever floats your boat!
-
We never ever get these reviews!
-
Well finally!!!
-
@Crimsonorblue22 Shouldn’t have been so lackadaisical.
-
High fast one gets them most of the time. Looks so good but few can catch up to it.
-
@globaljaybird Well it’s about time. Take a nap did you? Old folks are like that.
-
@brooksmd Nah, but that’s comin. Busy as a cat tryin to cover up crap on a frozen pond all day till just now & checked the score b4 hitn the shower. Had contractors, realtors, & kids all here today. Am ready 4 the rack. Bring the big W home without me tonigh .pard. Will check back later if I stay awake long enough.
-
@globaljaybird
-
Thought this game would be delayed three innings ago!
-
@VoyagingJayhawk Feel like it should’ve been over an hour ago. Still got at least an inning to go and probably more the way it’s going.
-
@brooksmd My father was saying that they’re trying to get this one in if at all possible because tomorrow’s forecast is even worse. I’m out here on the west coast so I could go for some extra’s again! Not quite bedtime yet!
-
@VoyagingJayhawk Where bouts?
-
@brooksmd I’m out in southern California, not the paradise parts though! haha
-
@VoyagingJayhawk Just curious as after I retired from AF was a tech rep to them on some comm gear at Travis. Plus again as a Navy brat spent some time in San Diego. Very nice.
-
How important is each and every out though? If Escy makes a good throw and gets the out we’re still up a run and they might have called this game. Regardless, we’d be going into the 9th with a lead.
-
@brooksmd I wasn’t lucky enough to wind up near San Diego, got stuck in the sand and not the fun kind!
-
@VoyagingJayhawk Yeah. Not sure I’m gonna hang to see if they re-start this one.
-
@VoyagingJayhawk Near 29 Palms?
-
@brooksmd That would be the spot
-
@VoyagingJayhawk Never been there but from what I’ve heard I didn’t miss anything. Sorry.
-
@Crimsonorblue22 Don’t tell me you been watchin’ that special on Bruce Jenner.
-
@brooksmd haha it’s not so bad, the desert can be strangely beautiful. I’ve been lucky enough to be in some enjoyable places though so I can’t complain.
-
@brooksmd I taped it!! Got the kids to bed!! Son is still there, he called! Why didn’t they call it in 6? How many do they need?
-
@VoyagingJayhawk your bro still there?
-
Oh jeez didn’t the real Bruce Jenner disappear after he became a hero in the '76 Olympics?
-
@VoyagingJayhawk Again as a Navy brat we’ve made that trip on the old Rte 66 from Cal to Kansas before interstate ever existed. A couple of times. In fact the first time was coming back from Guam headed to Great Lakes. My sister hid down behind the car door whenever she saw an indian.
-
@Crimsonorblue22 Yes he is, he knows better than to leave a ballgame before it’s over. What about your son and girlfriend?
-
@VoyagingJayhawk My wife was watching it. Told her I wouldn’t be surprised if Wheaties does a box with him all made up in a dress throwing a javlin.
-
@VoyagingJayhawk You’re right. The desert is still a beautiful area.
-
@VoyagingJayhawk still there!
-
@brooksmd Ha! Whenever I road trip I try to avoid the interstates. My great grandfather worked for Union Pacific and was able to take my grandmother on some great train rides out west, her stories always leave me dreaming of the good old days.
-
@VoyagingJayhawk Damn dude, my uncle worked UP in Topeka.
-
U guys probably r related!
-
@Crimsonorblue22 lol
-
@brooksmd My great grandfather worked out of Kansas City, he may have started out in Topeka though, I would have to ask my grandmother. If I remember correctly he worked the Salina and Maryville routes.
-
@brooksmd I’ve been to Topeka, stayed at the holidome
-
Game suspended, finish tmrw before sats game
-
Let’s hope it happens! See ya guys tomorrow
-
@Crimsonorblue22 Hmmmm, fond memories of that Holiday Inn. But that’s a long time ago.
-
@brooksmd afraid to ask, we last stayed there when my son played state basketball there.
-
Making me homesick. I actually hate that stadium. The old stadium was a baseball palace that was fun for everyone who went there. The only guy who didn’t like it was the owner. He said not long after it opened that there’s not a bad seat in the house. Well, the first time I was there I sat in the upper deck way out by the foul pole. We were so high up in the sky that you really had no reliable perspective on batted balls. A few years back they cut off the top 8 rows of the ballpark because fans hated it up there so much.
To add insult to injury they faced the stadium to the south side, which at the time was dominated by the worlds largest housing project, the Robert Taylor homes. When they were building the place they were actually finding bullet holes in the upper deck seats! They should have faced it towards downtown which isn’t far away and the view would have been glorious. I still love the Sox, but the stadium is still a sore spot!
Also interestingly the year after Sox park opened, Camden Yards opened. It was spectacular. Somehow the same architectural firm designed both places.
If they had faced it downtown this is the view that fans would have had, which actually comes from the ramps on the north side of the stadium.
-
@VoyagingJayhawk I didn’t see your post until after I read yours. I think your gramps and I must have talked!
-
My first ball game was in old Yankee stadium, the real house that Ruth built. I was just a kid, but remember it just like Billy Crystal did in City Slickers.
-
Just reported, the continuation of last nights game and todays regularly scheduled game cancelled due to rain in the rainy city. Bummer.
-
Sooooo why was it stupid for Sale to go to the KC locker room and say sorry?
-
@wissoxfan83 Wow, that was the same firm? I had no idea. Camden Yards is a sweet ballpark. Feels new and old all at once, they nailed it with that one. You would think a firm of professional architects could have came up with a stadium that was more Comiskey-esque and takes advantage of those views of Chicago.
