Favorite All Time Players

  • Just going back in time , just watched Coach top ten best wins-- -remembering back to some players would love to have today- -My all time favorites.

Would love to have a Starting five today of – - Aaron Miles- - Kirk Heinrich- -Thomas Robinson- - -Raef Lafrentz- -& Paul Pierce.- -Mercy love that line up.-

Bring Frank Mason , == =Devonte Graham – - -& Collison off the Bench I’d take that in a heart beat

My best tough guy- - -Frank Mason , just a Dog- -tough as they come.

I think this whole group just had a different edge , a lot more mentally AND Physically would love to have this group today

  • Holy crap, I don’t know how anyone can make a list of great KU players and not mention Wilt (I admit never saw play) and Danny Manning. TRob? Most of those are beloved KU players but who weren’t good enough to play in the NBA!

Of course you said your all time favorites, to each his own!

Wilt, Danny, Pierce, Lovellette (sp?) and JoJo running the point. I’ll bring Mario, Kirk, and underrated Lafrentz off the bench!

  • I’d just start five Kirk Hinrichs and bring Wilt off the bench

  • @wissox I fully realize Wilt , but right my favorite --was little with Wilt wasn’t watching hardly then . Same with Lovellette , and yes yes T Rob absolute stud. All these guys all have a toughness edge over many many others of today’s rosters.-- They wasn’t worried about NIL- - Portal crap- -they played ball and played top notch clutch ball and was team orientated

I realize there are others. To many to mention all , like you noticed these would just be my five. I would put these five against any others and take our shot. I think we would be just fine. Give me these five and the three I had coming from the bench - oh ya any time - -any where

  • I’d just play one Wilt. That’s it.

  • @wissox I started watching some pro basketball towards the end of Wilt’s career. About the time his Lakers were setting an all time win streak (since broken). Wilt was no longer a big scorer but had shifted his emphasis to defense. I’ve never seen since someone so completely control the paint. The other team rarely tried for short range shots and Wilt ruled the backboard. It seemed he could rise up for a rebound, turn in mid air, and hit Jerry West with a pinpoint pass at mid court in the time it would take to blink your eyes. Pure poetry. Most fun I’ve had watching non-Jayhawk basketball with the only competition being the epic Larry Bird/ Magic Johnson wars several years later.

  • @ImmunoHawk I have a slight obsession with Wilt. I’ll try to tone it down. Wilt retired in 1973 - 52 years ago and he STILL holds 72 NBA records.

For you LeBron lovers, LJ has fourteen 50 point games. Wilt has 118. Enough said.

  • I sometimes go back and forth in my mind about the GOAT. Being a Chicagoan MJ obviously is either it or Wilt. I don’t mind anyone calling MJ the GOAT but I still think Wilt is. The unbreakable records he holds, the stories of never fouling out, averaging over 50 points in a season, averaging more than 48 minutes per game, playing all but 5 minutes of a season (hey remember when LBJ played all but 5 minutes of a HALF?). Just goes on and on.

MJ? Well I majored in geography at KU, he majored in geography at UNC! Check. In championship starved Chicago he delivered! Check. His will to win, really hard to quantify, but it seemed was second to none. 1/2 check!

LBJ, spectacular talent. That’s what I hate about these convo’s. Kobe? Incredible, not gonna argue his candidacy for GOAT, but if I did, I’d win! Larry Bird? Top 5 all time, but maybe it’s based on the amazing youtube vids that just show amazing and leave out all the rest. Steph Curry? Not gonna argue against his candidacy either. He’s changed the game and inadvertantly may be responsible for the ‘boring’ NBA label that’s out there now because Steph made 3 point shooting really make sense.

@ImmunoHawk That’s some great stuff you wrote.

  • @ImmunoHawk

I can’t remember which rookie drove the lane and scored and Wilt told him the next time you try that I will make you pay. I think it was Walt Frazier and he went in and Wilt laid him out. I didn’t do that anymore.

  • Phog Allen was famous for saying you could win a title with Wilt and 4 sorority girls

  • @kjayhawks would Wilt have had time to play basketball with 4 sorority girl teammates?

  • @nuleafjhawk He would of been playing some kind of ball lol

  • Jeez, it’s nearly impossible to come up with a starting five. So many favs over the years. Some of my favs:

PG Jacque Vaughn / Sherron Collins

G Kirk Hinrich / Devonte Graham

SF Paul Pierce / Keith Langford / Calvin Thompson

PF Danny Manning / Nick Collison / Alonzo Jamison

C Greg Ostertag / Udoka Azubuike

  • Favorites, not necessary the best players.

Jacque Vaughn, Devonte Graham, Jarrod Haase, Kirk Hinrich, Keith Freeze, Ostertag, LaFrentz, Mario F’n Chalmers - personal fav, Sheron Collins, Trob, TJ Whatley’s mustache.

  • Folks, Who is your favorite Jayhawk in Self era.

    Consider all factors.

  • @AsadZ Chalmers, Agbaji, Tournament Remi, Doke, Dotson, Garrett for his defense

  • @wissox got to pick 1

    🤓

  • @AsadZ Frank Mason - -tough as nails and a absolute dog

  • Yea, hard to think of a fiercer Jayhawk than Frank.

  • Marcus Garrett

  • My favorite career is Frank Mason.

My favorite individual season is Dave Mccormack’s senior year. Perfect script.

My favorite shit talker is Christian Braun.

My favorite team will always be 2007-2008.

  • Favorite player - Hinrich - quickest up the court with the ball in his hands and one bad mofo for a white boy

Was a reason he stayed in the league so long even though he hated the nba life.

    Frank is a close second

Big Dave had by far one of the greatest final four unexpected runs I’d ever seen. He was better than Och by a mile and deserved MOP

07-08 winning that title against all the other number 1 seeds was the best.

The way Bill triple teamed THansborough knowing he was so selfish to never kick it out when unc would throw it into him was A+ scheme and the reason we just destroyed them

  • My favorite is Cole Aldrich.
