Found interesting question off TOS , I can see a little logic.

  • Read a pretty interesting question/statement - -think makes SOME sense , I could see it either way , don’t think there is an over whelming right/wrong in this situation.

The poster posed this question , With us being out , or next to out of any Bowl contention , for sure out of league Championship , do we – could we - -should we insert Isiah Marshall in the QB slot and let him gain playing Experience for his future in the up doming Seasons ?

could look at it both ways , on one side you say NO be loyal to Jalen for the remainder of the Season , players /WR’s already have that connection with him – him being a SR I dunno just kind of bad to yank him this stage of his career at KU just think might be a wrong move. Now I could very easily be wrong on this - - Don’t really believe there is a right or wrong answer to this.

On the other side like I said other then playing out the SEason we do not have any thing obtainable. No Championship —NO PLAYOFF , so might be a good time to give Isiah that experience, he hasn’t played a snap so let him play these last 3-4 games could not do anything other then help let him go- - won’t lose his Red Shirt opportunity by playing because he hasn’t played and would play enough to lose that yr.

Sooo what would you do ? - -Let him play & Yank Jalen - -OR let Jalen play it our

  • @jayballer67 Loyalty is a great thing. But not when it’s costing us wins.

    Play Marshall

  • Give the program the best chance of signature wins the rest of the way. Play the young guys when possible without sacrificing this.

Wins brings recruiting, glory for upperclassmen and the experience of a winning culture.

Build a next-man-up winning culture. Players will stay if they know they can win here.

  • I think it would send a strong negative message about our program to bench Jalen. He gave up long portions of two seasons hurt for this program. Understandably he’s been not quite the same this year. It’s too bad for us in what was looking to be a possible playoff season, but benching one of our most successful QB’s just looks bad.

  • Is Jalon planning on coming back next season or entering the portal after this season? That’s the first question that needs answering. If the answer is Daniels plans on transferring, then the next question becomes is Isaiah Marshall ready to play this season? Knowing that players can still appear in 4 games without burning their redshirt and Cole Ballard being the main back up in the two blowouts pretty strongly suggests that Marshall isn’t close to ready yet. Based on that, does the staff think Ballard could be the guy to replace Daniels? If so, and if Daniels plans to transfer, then give Ballard a shot because he wasn’t bad in his game action last season.

If Jalon Daniels plans on returning next season, then you gotta keep playing him because he gives KU the best chance to win at this point.

  • @wissox to me it says we don’t care enough about our program to try and win.

  • @nuleafjhawk I don’t know how you can watch this years team and say they haven’t been trying to win. They’ve been righthere in every game.

  • @wissox These are his exact words about this team: “Last night was the game that firmly cemented our place in history as one of the worst college football teams of all time.”

It’s not the Weis and Beaty teams that were barely beating some crappy FCS teams on occasion amd couldn’t stay within 40 of most FBS teams that’s the worst in KU’s history, it’s this year’s team that has 5 one possession losses to a collection of good teams that’s worse than any of those teams.

  • @Texas-Hawk-10 I’m happy that I’ve made such an impact on you that you remember my exact words!

Why is it that you think I can’t have an opinion? Sure, I am emotional sometimes and am prone to the hyperbole bug, but I say my stuff and move on.

  • @nuleafjhawk Did you mean football programs of all time instead of football teams?

  • @wissox I was referring to the coaching staff. I think they should try something different. Apparently, I’m not the only one.

  • @nuleafjhawk Every fan of every coaching staff in America whether it be football, polo or team ping pong thinks they should be trying something different. That doesn’t make them the worst team of all time does it?

  • @nuleafjhawk I’m just curious why you think this team is worse than the Weis and Beaty era teams that were lucky if they lost by 40 to KSU instead of having a late 4th quarter lead.

  • @Texas-Hawk-10 That’s a fair question. I think that because we were a completely terrible team back then, but everyone knew that and expected us to lose. WE expected us to lose. So, we lived up to expectations.

This current team is loaded with experienced, good athletes. Most were on the 9-4 Bowl winning team last year. However, they consistently, without fail, find ways to lose. Don’t quote me, but I believe we’ve blown 4th quarter leads in all 6 losses this year. This is what makes me more upset with this team than past teams. They are not living up to expectations.

Obviously, you don’t have to agree with me.

  • @wissox I’ll repeat in case you didn’t see it earlier.

    Emotions. Hyperbole.

I do a lot of each.

Also, I don’t feel we should give the team a blue ribbon and smiley face stickers for trying their bestest. I don’t think we should sing their praises with a 2-6 record I’m not being a doomsday prophet, but you know as well as I do that they have a very good chance of going 2-10.

I know you’re a smart guy. I just don’t see how you can call this team competitive. Being ahead in every game and just blatantly giving the game to the other team isn’t really being competitive.

  • @nuleafjhawk This team would absolutely dog walk those Weis and Beaty teams by at least 40 points. I’ll absolutely say this team is one of the disappointing KU teams of all time, but this team is nowhere near the worst KU team ever, let alone of the past decade.

  • @nuleafjhawk I disagree. I’m not a smart guy.

  • I think everyone is right is there own way besides @wissox saying he’s not smart. @Texas-Hawk-10 is right this team likely mops the floor with most KU teams the last decade plus. @nuleafjhawk is correct that this is the most disappointing team in Kansas football history. Even the 2009 team managed to win 5 games this they gave away their fair share. I never expected us to win the conference and make the CFP. But I never thought we wouldn’t make a bowl. This could be the worst coaching job in CFB history. It’s one thing to suck with a team full of non D1 athletes like Weis and Beaty. It’s an entirely different story to struggle with NFL talent on both sides of the ball. LL has been exposed so far this season.

  • @wissox I disagree with your disagreement!

  • @Texas-Hawk-10 You and I both want each other to see our own point of view. It’s probably not going to happen.

I’m willing to call a truce if you are.

  • @nuleafjhawk What is your definition of competitive? It seems your definition is radically different from the accepted definitions if you don’t think this team is competitive.

Also, do you not think this team absolutely wipes the floor with any of those Weis or Beaty teams? Your words are giving that impression and if that’s the case, then I believe many people won’t take your views seriously because there’s no evidence this team is anywhere close to those levels of bad.

  • If you have 2 kids, one never got a job, is 30, and is entirely dependent upon you financially and for transportation, and the other went to college but after graduating, got a job in his field but was let go after a year, then couldnt get a job in his field despite continuously applying and is currently at home and working a job at 7-11 as he continues to apply for jobs another year later, which one is more disappointing?

And if the answer is the latter rather than the former, isnt that lacking objectivity, and really all about you?

  • @Texas-Hawk-10 no, Jalon is worse than Montell Cozart, Lance couldn’t beat Montell Cozart, this team would lose to Rhode Island. I guess? Things are worse than they’ve ever been, the country is lost, the sun will swallow the earth by Wednesday

  • @FarmerJayhawk I’d take that outcome any day of the week. Need a sticker for my truck that says meteor 2024 just fucking end it all.

  • everything sucks and we’re rooting for global destruction? fellas, fellas.

  • Houston beats KState. We destroyed Houston, barely lost to KState. Houston also beat TCU whom I thought was our toughest opponent. We really struggled to stop them. There’s a side that I’m a part of that we’ve won some moral victories at least this year. I know that sucks but some times the odd plays that happen in a season cause us to lose like every time. Go back to my what if post. I’d rather take some satisfaction in these crazy frustrating losses than losing by 50 every week.

weird thing about it is, and a lot won’t believe this, but even crazy frustrating losses are better then being blown out losses of fifty.- -There is a reason they are called crazy and frustrating-- -it’s called progress. People don’t like to accept that , but it is what it is.----- Thee was a time not that long ago people would lay wagers on how bad we would get .beat , winning wasn’t a option.
