Chiefs season long game thread

  • @nuleafjhawk listen to that part on the way to basketball practice for my son. Mitch pretty much called out the WR corps as he should. “Mahomes now has thrown 13 inceptions this season and over half are off his receivers hands. That ties a career high”. Crazy to think about how he is on pace to have his most accurate year completion percentage wise while his team leads the league in drops. They also said this team is 4 away from the most drops in NFL history since they have kept the stat. Sounds like historically bad group of receivers.

  • Hey, always nice to win a roadie! Wins are mandatory for the Chiefs at this point to be in good playoff standing.

And Wow. Mahomes is sure starting to lose some poise, huh. Hard to believe that Veach has stuck to his guns and stood pat on receiver help. Shocking really. If schmucks like me can see we are hurtin badly and ruining a Super Bowl window with a HOF QB…cmon, man!

The problem is that I half like and half don’t like Toney. He’s hard nosed as hell once he actually catches the ball, but that seems to be the hard part. Can we just make him a RB? 🙂

CEH is not effing around! Love it. Bulldozer.

Travis is starting to show his age I think. That sucks 😞

    Keep them wins comin, Chiefs!

  • @kjayhawks said in Chiefs season long game thread:

@Crimsonorblue22 I don’t get why people don’t like him. I honestly think all 3 RBs are good players.

    CEH? Slow, lack of vision.

  • @rockchalkjayhawk So, you’d rather have Toney fumble than drop passes? 😆

  • @nuleafjhawk At least he get’s the tour over that way instead of Mahomes. Crazy that Toney had cost the Chiefs 2 games this year. He’s so talented, but seems to lack game awareness.

  • I’m beginning g to wonder if Toney might have smaller hands, leading to difficulty catching the ball. Just a thought.

  • Ha, Arrowhead Pride dogging on the receivers too.

The Chiefs can’t keep putting receivers Marquez Valdes Scantling, Skyy Moore, and Kadarius Toney on the field and expect positive things to happen. It’s madness.

Couldn’t just about any combination of players muster the 22 combined yards of offense these guys gave us on Sunday?

We have 14 games of experiential data. It says that when these guys are on the field, negative things happen. If we replaced Valdes-Scantling, Toney and Moore with practice squad receivers Cornell Powell, Montrell Washington and Daniel Arias, would there actually be any drop-off in production? Or would it be just a drop-off in turnovers?

At some point, you have to amputate the gangrenous leg, so that it doesn’t infect the entire body.

  • Well there ya go. One WR question answered: Skyy Moore to IR list.

Will they elevate Justyn Ross, or call in some new blood?

  • @rockchalkjayhawk I would think call in J Ross

  • Go Chiefs, all I want for Christmas is a victory!🎁

  • The Chiefs offensive line forgot they had a game this morning

  • Good gosh! Can we get a 1st down?

  • This is ugly raiders are up pressing the WRs on the line and sending extra rushers basically saying you can’t throw it

  • Nice catch by Rice! Just short. Need a break.

  • @Crimsonorblue22 I want world peace. My wish has a much greater chance of happening than yours.

  • Alright, much better! Like Pacheco’s play! 🫶😍❤

  • @nuleafjhawk that last possession looked dang good!

  • What in the hell

  • Mahomes not playing smart

  • Gotta have drama in a Chiefs Raiders game. Was not expecting this though!

  • I’ve defended Mahomes a lot this season but this first half is on him

  • @kjayhawks nope. But still averages over 100k per pass, so he’s happy

  • @nuleafjhawk I guarantee he’s not very happy!

  • This is reminding me of the mid-70s…Podolak into the line twice for 4 yards, pass for 3, then punt.

  • Defense is playing great but offense just can’t do nothing today. Raiders get 6 here and it’s all done but the crying.

  • Sums up the receiver core with that play just stop and make zero attempt to get the football

  • Townsend should be the starting QB

  • @nuleafjhawk don’t matter if it was Jesus at QB for this team

  • Unless he can block and catch for himself 🤣

  • Why would Chiefs hold Christmas party last night with players coaches and their spouses. This should have been today or earlier in the week.

No wonder they were not ready to play.

Hunt should return ticket money to fans, this is embarrassing, hate losing to Raiders.

  • @kjayhawks I feel like He could help!

  • Oh well.

Our QB makes more money than your QB

  • Jeez. What’s up with the Chiefs this year. Crazy. They look like they have zero juice in em.

If I weren’t a Chiefs fan, I’d be wondering if Mahomes was in debt to a Vegas crime mob. Some of his multiple turnovers were outright questionable.

    Eff da Raidas!

  • @rockchalkjayhawk mahomes was the only one trying the second half, got lit up a few times in doing so

  • @nuleafjhawk that’s why Brady’s records in super bowls will never be touched. Mahomes could’ve took a lesser contract and had offensive linemen/receivers. Oddly enough he’s only like the 6th highest paid QB

  • Is Pacheco not strapping his helmet on?

  • @kjayhawks you’re preaching to the choir, my friend. Money is PM’s true love now. His game will never be the same.

  • Veach does a lot of good, but he’s waited a lot of cap space too. - 20mil per year on Taylor. Yikes. Thuney is a huge cap hit at GUARD! MVS…any money is wasted there. There was an opportunity to have Hopkins on this team (or just retain the most dynamic receiver in football!!!). Spent all his cap with no receivers. Just not the best move, I expect they will rectify it this offseason.

Mahomes had a huge cap hit and won the sb last year. He’s not the issue, he’s the whole offense is the issue. - on days like today it shows in a bad way. Patrick had a bad day and the offense went from average to wretched.

  • Veatch took a gamble on WRs which has backfired.

Taylor is grossly overpaid, and I think a mistake was made to give him such a lucrative contract. Bad FA signing.

  • @AsadZ That Taylor signing is looking really bad. You hear his name every game. I want my linemen invisible outside of pancake blocks!

  • The Chiefs right now just have A LOT of issues, look at yesterday’s game. Just alone in the 1st qtr & just overall game , first three possessions - -minus 18 yards of offense -running backs getting stuffed at the line of scrimmage or losses - -Mahomes sacked twice, you have a false start , you have an offsides , you have 12 men on the field, you have an offensive PI on Kelce, you have another dropped pass from Kelce the Chiefs lead the league with like 27 dropped passes , that’s just lack of focus/concentration , Then you have a Mahomes fumble returned for a touchdown , then on the Chiefs vey next possessions Mahomes throws a pick 6- – Mahomes is at a Career best of INT’S with 14 - -things are just a mess right now

  • Gabe Davis, Tee Higgins, Mike Evans…there are options in the offseason that I like. But for now the Chiefs are screwed if they can’t get any production out of MVS. Rice is doing well. I think Ritchie James could be a solid receiver now that he’s healthy. The rest are suspect at best.

CEH may have the best hands on the team - get him on the field as an escape valve more often and teach Mahomes to take it instead of big play hunting. 🤷♂️ I don’t know how to fix this mess this year.

  • Chiefs need to understand that they are not very good on offense this year so they need to go back to basics on how to move the chains.

    No trick plays.

Raiders came to play very focused where Chiefs look lost, part of the blame goes to coaches.

  • @dylans Taylor is the worst tackle in the NFL IMO. I still stand behind me saying they needed to trade MVS and a few picks for Mike Evans who is in the last year of his contract with the Bucs.

  • Well, I was prepared to write the demise of the Chiefs is upon us. It still probably is, but then I looked back at their season schedule.

Are the Chiefs the same Chiefs who could cake walk to the Super Bowl? A resounding no.

But, they’ve been mostly competitive this year, despite their issues. I think they still have a chance to win any game.

They could make some noise in the playoffs with a little luck (and some output from their offensive players). So i have some faith left, but not a ton of confidence. So, there’s that. ha.

But i’ll rant about the future anyway!

The prime time Chiefs don’t appear to exist at the moment. The future isn’t so bright. We’ll need the super deluxe car wash in the offseason.

This could be it, folks. There’s lots to fix. But how long will it take to fix? And will a clearly frustrated Mahomes still want to stick around to wait? I know, seems impossibly unlikely for him to go, but who knows!

WR: Issue No. 1 for what seems like years now. Overhaul required. Unless a superstar or two join in the off-season, maybe not be a one year fix? how is it possible that they can’t get even a half yard separation at times??? i’m not sure they are entirely to blame (more on that later).

TE: Something has sucked the life out of our top dawg. If he’s not able to produce, we suffer to the max. Most of our eggs are in the Kelce basket. The above mentioned WRs can’t seem to help consistently. That leaves us in a hole with a clearly aging Travis. Dude is losing his sh*t more than Mahomes. Enough with the helmet tossing! Is it all his off field activity? Commercials, super star dating and jet setting? Or just that he’s wearing down? Either way, big issues. NOT an easy fix if he is done cooking or retires. he’s one of a kind.

QB: Mahomes is very clearly frustrated. I’m no expert on NFL financials, so not sure how possible it is he could want out and get out, but it seems at least a hint of a possible exit window exists. he doesn’t seem pleased with anything, or anybody at the moment. Hope he sticks around and doesn’t force his way out. his issues are coming to the forefront this season as well. Simple choices and mistakes seem to be his issue a lot. He cannot get on the same page with WRs. Is that his issue? Can he not throw a timing pattern? Does he need guys like Kelce who just run around til open to be successful? I dunno, but something’s wrong. how can you not at least connect with a WR or two during the game? Makes no sense. He’s taking some blame this season, maybe more than a little. Massive to say that, i know. But the offense is under the spotlight, and he’s part of it. NOT an easy fix if he leaves. he’s one of a kind.

RB: I like our group, but compared with other teams, it’s a weak link. Upgrade at the No. 1 spot required. This could be a quick and easy fix with the right draft selection. (not sure i have faith in our brain trust to pick a RB at this point).

O-LINE: seems to be a mess. Upgrades/reworking required. This could also be an easy fix with a good draft selection or via free agency.

Defense: No complaints at all. The star of the Chiefs this season. Keep it up. Replace/replenish as needed.

Coaching: Hmmm. Something seems off here as well. These WRs are professionals, who have had some degree of success here or elsewhere. Something’s wrong if they’re failing. Generally speaking with the offensive group, are the making the wrong play calls? Stupid play calls? Idiotic play calls? I’d like to see the stats on the gadget play success/fail rate. The Mahomes fumble for a defensive TD was appalling and seemingly unnecessary. Play calling and execution. Hard to say what the dynamic is between Reid and Nagy. EASY fix with new coaching.

Anyways, stupid Chiefs. Gotta win a game to make the playoffs, probably.

  • After last night Kansas receivers > Chiefs receivers. Arnold is more sure handed than any player currently in a chiefs uniform

  • Mecole on the mend. Sounds like he’ll suit up this weekend.

Can’t hurt to have another WR body on the field.

  • @rockchalkjayhawk said in Chiefs season long game thread:

Can’t hurt to have another WR body on the field.

Does that body come with hands?

  • Does he get hurt in the 1st quarter?

  • @Crimsonorblue22 Toney might if he wasn’t already on IR.

Mecole has had 2 injuries that have limited his time in KC in 4.5 years. A mangled thumb and a horrible core injury that required surgery that he tried to return from too soon last year. It’s not like he’s Hammy Watkins with constant soft tissue issues.
