KJ Adams

Not sure if anyone has heard but after a long battle with cancer KJ lost him mom today. Prayers for the Adams family. Not really any thing else to say other than she raised a terrific young man.
-
@kjayhawks oh no! I know they were leaving today for Hawaii. What a sad time for them, especially around the holidays.

Prayers for KJ and his family , sad to hear

Condolences and prayers for the family. Tough time for KJ.

Saw the photo last night on Facebook and feared the worst. This hits home for me as yesterday marked 5 years that my mother passed away. Condolences to KJ and his family in this rough time
-
May she rest in peace and give strength to KJ and family to deal with this tragic loss.

He’s so young to be w/out his mom. Reread CJ Moore’s story about KJ, it’s a story about a mom’s true love for her son. 🫶. Could’ve been a whole different outlook w/out her determination! She certainly found the right home for KJ at KU. She told Coach he needed to teach KJ to be an a$$hole, meaning to be tougher. He was to soft. The KU family will take good care of him! ️RIP

Does anybody know if KJ was w/his mom yesterday? I know the team left Fri and heard KJ was playing. Made me think about T Rob. I hope the team can go down there, busy time but a priority.

KJ is not with the team right now.

@BShark he really shouldn’t be with this tragedy. Don’t think we win the Maui tournament with or without him. But his mom is much bigger than basketball.
-
@kjayhawks While this is a huge loss, sometimes being with friends and loved ones can provide comfort. I recall TRob’s situation when he stayed with the team.

KU also had a game the day after T-Rob’s mom died and then flew out to the funeral after that game so the timing wasn’t the same as this situation.
-
I do hope the team and coaches can work out a time to make it for his mom’s service. They are so far away.
-
That’s what makes it so different than T-Robs, we weren’t half a world away in Hawaii. Coach Self I’m sure has given KJ the green light to do whatever he feels.
-
It’ll be interesting to see what happens with this. I’m sure KJ is going to want to play. But obviously has other more important things to deal with first. And the timing and travel logistics are very unfavorable. Could be possible he doesn’t play Monday nights game but then rejoins the team after. Either way he needs to do what is best for him at the moment.
-
End of the day it’s what’s best for Adams! If he feels like playing and being around his teammates is good for him , then great. If he needs that time away to process and be with family then totally fine!…. From a basketball perspective, meaningless games in November won’t affect the season much and honestly it will allow furphy, mcdowell, Jackson time to play more and grow. Getting that bench and 5th starter spot strong is needed! Harris, Hunter, Kevin, KJ are good enough to win it all but they need those freshman to step up. Especially with early Timberlake minutes being shaky even though it’s early in the season
-
KJ will arrive Monday, per Bedore. Also may not play against Chaminade.
-
I’m thinking KJ may make games 2 & 3, then head home for a funeral and family.
Edit: I’d think he would return in time for the UConn game 12/2.
-
His mom probably wanted him to play. I’m sure KU is sending somebody w/him.
-
I hope his mom saw him play Kentucky, she would’ve seen that coach taught him like she asked.
