This and that from a KU victory

  • I just watched some of footage of both Nick Reid and Tony Sands being added to the ring of honor. Pretty cool stuff IMO Tony holds the record for most rushing attempts in a single game with 53, his 396 yards versus Missouri in the same game ranks #5 on most yards in a single game in NCAA history after it held the #1 spot for over a decade and Tony also happens to be the 2nd leading rusher in Kansas history.

Nick was a big part of Mangino’s turn around here in Lawrence. Winning b12 conference defensive player of the year, named all conference 3 times and second on the all time tackles list. I think both were overdue to get their name etched in Kansas history.

Great to see Coach Mason and Coach Mangino in the house, two of our greatest coaches in program history. I’m told coach LL is really pushing for former guys to show up and support. This helps them do just that. I’m hoping to see more of it with the new stadium on the horizon.

It’s awesome to see Lance have a 8-2 record at home in the last two seasons and improve to 9-7 overall at the booth. That hasn’t happened much here in any era.

This defense continues to improve each week, gives its self opportunities and has game changing play capabilities.

Special Teams is leaps and bounds better than last season even with a few miss cues in the kicking game today.

Offense rebounded well after laying an egg in Austin last weekend. Bean looked much more comfortable, the line and running backs made his day pretty manageable.

I’m excited to go down Stillwater in a week to face the Pokes. It’s not an easy place to play by any means but KSU really gave that game away Friday night. I believe they had 3 turnovers in the form of interceptions and 2 more turnover on downs. Yet they still had chances to tie the game late.

Looking at the rest of our schedule, I don’t think it would be too insane to think we could win 4 more games at this time. JDs health is still a problem. I be shocked at this point if we didn’t win atleast 7 games even without JD.

  • Good stuff I think, but I can’t read that without paragraphs!

  • @wissox Try again after drinking a few more cups of strong coffee so you can keep pace with the topic changes. ☕☕☕☕☕

  • I was there at the game when Tuxedo Tony set that record.- -My brother and I thought holy cow , how many times are they going run him ? -Awesome stuff.

Just got to say you have to give most of the credit for the improvement of special teams goes right to Mr Sean Snyder -Daddy Bill was at the game for the 2nd straight home game- -umm , umm lol. Synder has really got the special teams looking lot’s better. -I know at least a couple of weeks back we were or had the number 1 special team in the Nation.

My thoughts just personally for the remainder I think we have decent shots for wins with : – -Okie State - - Iowa State - - Cincinnati- - -& K/State. - -I felt better about our chances against Oklahoma , but that was before yesterday, I still think we could if things play out right but , my expectations for that game has come down some BUT still at least a chance So ya I think we have a have a chance at 8 wins --maybe , maybe possibly 9 but I think we will need Jalen for those.

  • @wissox definitely not a writer but I can’t get paragraphs to work on my phone with this site very well will try again here

  • Biggest key for the defense is sustained drives by the offense. Seems like a duh thing, but they did just get gassed by the end of the Texas game because we couldn’t sustain drives. Much better gameplan for Bean this week since it was focused on him.

  • @BShark big help to Bean getting snaps during the week, can’t figure why he hasn’t been getting them all along. Are they trying to save Bean’s backups? Did u go to game?

  • If it were 2024 KU would be the only ranked big12 team.

  • Utah though

He was but you can’t have both QBs practicing with the other starters. There isn’t enough practice time to do that.

  • AP has KU ranked at #23. I wasn’t expecting that

  • @KirkIsMyHinrich Oh yeah forgot about the utes.

  • So, KU starts out -3.5 at Okie State, as Bob Davis was fond of saying. Jason Bean did exactly what KU needed Saturday: no mistakes, just solid QB play. I’ve seen commenters already saying Jalon won’t be back for OKST. I think Bean is our best option anyway. I haven’t checked OKST’s run defense, but utilizing our RBs sure seems to be the way forward for KU’s offense. Rush Neal, Hishaw and McDuffie. 51 runs to 12 passes might just be our winning formula.

  • I don’t see it anywhere but surely everyone knows that Trevor Wilson was the Big 12 special team player of the week! I couldn’t be happier for a kid. Second chance worked here. I’ve watched that a hundred times.

  • That was a beauty of a return. Following blockers and then turning on the afterburners.

I know the guy is listed at 5-11 200, but there’s no way he’s that big. Looks more like 5-8 175 to me, tops. Speedy.

    MmmHmm. https://www.espn.com/college-sports/football/recruiting/player/combine/_/id/229472/trevor-wilson
