  • dang it no catch - -but 1st and goal at the 3

  • They call it?

ya that one was a no catch - -we scored anyways but Mason dropped the 2 pt conversion

  • I got it by now, thx

  • @DanR where did u go?

  • just leave the special teams coordinator in Manhattan

  • The O works so hard

  • @Crimsonorblue22 the O dominated this game and our D actually did enough to win. Special teams cost us 14+ points today

  • #5 Burroughs yeah

  • They are talking like K State is going to go for it on 4th down

  • Total yardage K State 327 KU 303

  • I think we have given K State all they they would ask for - - competitive - -we are closing the gap

  • For sure

  • Glad Neal is not hurt.

  • You can’t punt there imo. Have to go for it

  • Especially as long as our O takes

  • Well Ball Game

  • Yep

  • Too many stupid mistakes to win this game. But the dumb play-calling and not going for it on 4th actually has me kind of upset.

  • Gonna try to run up the score?

    Oh you know they will

  • I think everyone here would have taken 6-6 if given the option at the beginning of the season. Definitely something to build on going forward.

I know I am fine with 6-6 major progress , still got a bowl , who would of thought that before the Season started

  • We’ve been making so many mistake in the last few games. I know the games were tougher but still, they were our own doing. That frustrates me.

  • Let’s get Luke Arnold on the bb team

  • This KU team has many holes especially on D but I do not think that the team regressed per se.

In my opinion injuries at key positions took a big toll further exacerbated by tougher schedule down the stretch. One has to keep in mind that opposing teams started scouting KU more aggressively after their hot start.

Overall, I am extremely pleased with the year, and I am very optimistic about next year.

  • Huge improvement overall. He’ll have defense and special teams operating much better next year. There won’t be anymore losing 6 of our last 7 games next year.

  • The rebuild is headed in the right direction and a little bit ahead of schedule too because there weren’t many who had KU pegged as a bowl team this year, most thought that would happen next season.

At the beginning of the season, the Athletic had an article about what a good rebuild should look like for a team as bad as KU has been. The first step was just building the confidence of the players to where they believed they could compete, not even win, but just compete. The OU game last year was huge for that and beginning of moving into that phase. The UT game obviously was huge as well because it was a breakthrough for this group. The following 2 games were even more important to this rebuild than the OU and UT games because KU followed the win up with playing close, competitive games to close the season. The TCU and WV games last year were the true turning point because usually whenever KU pulled an upset, it was just a one off performance and KU was back to getting blown out the following week. Those last two games backed up the UT win and showed there was real progress being made and a mentality shift happening with KU.

Coming into this season, we all knew the first half of the schedule was where KU’s potential wins this season were coming from because it was against teams of similar talent level to KU. We saw that mentality shift in game one against Tennessee Tech where KU looked dominant over an inferior opponent that hadn’t happened in recent history. The most important game this season for KU was the West Virginia game where backed up its week 1 performance and managed to win a road game early and built their confidence and KU beat everyone that was of similar caliber to them.

Even when Jalon Daniels got hurt, Bean was a capable back up who kept KU competitive and got the 6th win against an injury depleted OSU team. Most importantly for the rebuild though, even in KU’s losses, they were mostly competitive and had a chance in the 4th quarter against everyone but Texas. Only one true blowout this season should have everyone excited for the future of this team.

We know the areas of weakness that need to be addressed and recruiting shows Leipold knows that too as most of the incoming HS players are on defense. I expect to see him keep building depth on the defense which was the biggest issue this year as they would just wear out bybthe 4th quarter because the depth isn’t there yet.

We also know special teams needs to be addressed because that unit was a negative factor for KU far too many times and I’m not referring to Borcila exclusively, our return game was well below average most of the time, and our punter struggled to punt more than 40 yards on a consistent basis well so Those are things that need to be addressed in addition to Borcila.

I’m looking forward to seeing who Leipold adds to the defense and kicking game through the portal and what we look like in the bowl game this year as those practices are going to be huge for the future.

  • More than anything recruiting our own guys back is priority #1 for this off-season. Keep this team in tact. Staff and players.

Then we need to find some upgrades again. I feel like the D is a couple of starters away from being good enough.

I’d like to see us add another WR with the ability to take one to the house on simple screens. I feel like that is lacking. This O could use some track speed added to it.

I’m excited to see what another off-season can be for this group. LL being her long term should really be a benefit in the recruiting trail.

  • Be nice to know if Hishaw will ever play again. Need an ace kicker! Was talk of Jalon moving to west coast, closer to family. He has gotten back to his old self. I’m hearing BYU, responders bowl?

Jerry Palm of CBS has that projected match up. ESPN’s have KU in the Armed Forces Bowl on Dec. 22. One of 247’s writers has KU in the Guaranteed Rate Bowl in Phoenix. Nobody has the Liberty Bowl against Missouri right now.
