Funny!
Honestly, I’ve wondered many times why the %&^* any good recruit would want to spend ANY time in Waco, Tx. Sorry if anyone’s from Waco and that’s your favorite place in the world, but the rest of us don’t get it.
The best thing I’ve ever seen about Waco is Chip and Joanna Gaines on the Fixer-Upper show.
This will sound extremely arrogant, I’m sure, but last night I was watching Georges Niang and I almost felt sorry for him. He’s so damn talented and I’m thinking - Really? Ames, Iowa. WHY? Why didn’t he play at KU? I’ll never get it.
-
I don’t know that KU even recruited Niang. We had already signed Perry Ellis in that class. I’m not sure if KU was ever in the hunt for Niang. He was ranked 56 coming out of HS, which isn’t bad, but not where we are usually recruiting. It looks like his final choices were Iowa State, Iowa, UMass, Providence and Siena. Looking at that group, I completely understand the Iowa State choice.

@nuleafjhawk I love that show! What will they do when they run out of run down homes in Waco?
-
@Crimsonorblue22 Lol - not likely to run out of run down homes there, but IF they do - maybe they could move to Midland-Odessa.
My goal is to offend everyone in the state of Texas today.
What’s jaybate’s motto - no malice … Which reminds me - I think jaybate is really Fran Fraschilla - I heard him say something about " no malice " last night !

@nuleafjhawk good one!!

I can totally understand (and completely agree) with the question if it means why did he choose the ISU program over KUs awesome and history-rich program.
But, and I say this as a KU alumni who loves Lawrence, if you’re wondering why any elite high school athlete from the coast would factor one small midwestern town over another small midwestern town in his decision… well you need to get out of the midwest a bit more! I’ll bet half those kids don’t even know all the states in the midwest, moreless the cities in them!
(no malice intended)

@Jyhwk_InTigrtwn I know - I’m not really as ignorant as I sound most of the time. I get that people have allegiances to other schools and that’s OK.
Ok if you’re stupid. Lol.
-
@nuleafjhawk sarcastic for sure! And… you have recently been on a cruise!
-
Gheez… like these kids could afford to shop at Whole Foods. I’m sure they will be lining up to buy a $35 happy cow ribeye steak! Unless I"m leaving out a part of the rest of their recruiting techniques. Just the fact that they list Whole Foods should be ample proof that the NCAA needs to run a formal investigation in Waco!
Hilarious link… thanks!

@nuleafjhawk Live in Texas-and have thick skin so no worries. I must admit the Baylor Campus is nice. I don’t know anything about Waco as a town. As a former west coast resident I sure could use a “In and Out Burger” fix.
Here’s something I got a kick of. Back in the day that franchise gave out bumper stickers.
Kids would edit it to read “In and Out urge”.

@JayhawkRock78 Truth be known, I Texas (the state!) very much! Once upon a time, my wife and I lived in Houston for almost 9 years. My dad has lived in the Round Rock (and now Horseshoe Bay) area for almost 30 years. We have close friends in Galveston.
The slammin Waco thing just came into play because of Baylor.
Don’t Mess With Texas.
More importantly - ROCK CHALK JAYHAWK
