Found this article about Dajion Harris too… 13 years old. Argh. https://krcgtv.com/news/local/grandmother-of-13-year-old-boy-killed-in-columbia-speaks-out

Sad.
-
@DanR just found that too. Dad died too.
-
I read somewhere he lived with Braun’s since jr. hi.
-
@Crimsonorblue22 more or less

Bill talking about how the D sucked in the first half. Crickets about the O sucking.
Lol, classic Bill.
-
@BShark tell me more
-
Bill said that Tristan had some nagging stuff, won’t go away, just doesn’t feel right. Sounds like that could be Bill-speak for long COVID…?
-
@approxinfinity can’t play-itis, severe case.

To be fair good defense sets up good offense. Look at the first OSU game’s transition points.
-
@approxinfinity have any of them had it?
-
Wow - stopped watching at the half… now just watched the second half. UTEP flat out had us, out played us until KU went Full D effort. This fellas is nothing but a good thing. It’s how you respond and how you finish. We already know this team ain’t about offense. It’s now about circling the wagons and self belief. Speaking of self, How much of the game credit goes to coach Self? He has got this not-so-talented team into a nice fighting weight over the last few months.

Damn his senior speech will be something else in 4 years
-
I think he mentioned norm or KT suggested putting MG on the big guy 2nd half. Being pesky worked. Love a smaller guy on a post guy.
-
Yeah we just didn’t have a post player capable of checking him. Good decision by the staff.
-
2nd half Dave showed up again.

1st half Dave not so much. When he plays well in both half’s KU has a pretty good chance of winning

there has been times lately if it wern’t for him we wouldn’t need him in the 2nd half cause we be buried him being all we had in the 1st

Agree. I’m not knocking the guy, just bringing up a valid point. It sometimes just seems that it takes him the entire first half to know and get into the flow of the game. The guy is vital to our team, but it is something that he needs to work on.

Granted, that is true. But that does not mean that it is not an issue that he needs to improve upon for the rest of this season and next. The guy can absolutely dominate when he focuses.

believe me I’m sure it’s not in his chemistry to go out and think ehhhh I’m not going play a full game maybe just the 2nd half - - 1st half. There are alot of times he is getting doubled down low catching deep and outside small dropping down to double. Dave gets hyped sped up I just think and not saying neccessarily you but there are some in here as things start going South they target Dave. I’m guilty of that some myself. Big Man - - Big target to place blame , easy target. Then I get to thinking you know it’s not like he isn’t trying just as hard in the 1st half - - the 2nd half as the other half. he just has that tendenancy to get sped up easy. - You can’t fault the effort - The way I try to look at it after I start to think rationally is - - -Takes 5 to win a game - - takes 5 to lose a game , cuase under normal conditions at some time - - some point EVERY one of these kids have screwed up enough in the game that they can and should share equal blame for crap play.
Usually it’s just that someone finds the Target DAVE and starts in and then others hop on the bandwagon and take shots - - make them feel better I guess . Lot of arm chair Coach’s - -dam Dave WHY is Bill playing you - -why you doing this - -why AREN’Tyou doing that - -yet bottom line is after all is said and done DAVE has saved our ass - - A - -LOT - -easy to 2nd guess someone when you sittin at home kicked back sucking suds and stuffing the face, makes me wonder how many of the critics play P-5 Major College basket ball? - -if they did - - how well did they do in those types of situations?
-
He wasn’t the only one having a bad first half. When he plays as good as he did in the 2nd half you get to see how vital and good he can be for this team. When he’s not playing well the level of play for this team seems to tank right along with him
-
Clearly we need Biggus Davus badly at this point. He is getting better and better, he apparently is coachable and will be back next year. Don’t know what his ceiling is, but I think he has room to grow some more. (PLEASE make him work with a pump fake tutor this summer!!) if he can learn to expend less wasted energy and figure out how to draw fouls, his 80 percent free throws is as good a way to score as any for him.
-
Was interesting hearing Self talk about Embiid being better this year bc he stopped trying to shoot 3s and embraced fully being back to the basket. “Hes a load”.
-
@BeddieKU23 I agree one hundred percent, think he be the most important component on our team, with Ochai and Braun being a close 2nd and third respectively. Both Ochai and Dave seem to receive quite a few of their what I call bucket dimes from Braun.
