Just what we & Big 12 needed

  • Just saw off ESPN that some kid didn’t catch his name - -he was the MVP in that FIBL or I know thats not quite right probably but you get the jest - -anyways he committed to BAYLOR as if they aren’t loaded enough - -if Butler comes back and the other one - - - LOOK OUT

Had to come back and edit - - my mistake guys and apologize , this kid will be in they[re 2021 class not this year

  • @jayballer73 Baylor isn’t going to go away. Drew can coach, and he’s bringing in talent - always has, but this talent is different.

  • @Marco I kind of disagree. I think Drew can recruit, but I don’t think he’s all that great at coaching. With the talent he’s had I believe he should have made a FF or two by now.

Imagine starting the conference 15-0 and losing it soundly. Couldn’t be our coach.

I agree with you - - yet hear alot of people say oh Well Drew is Coaching them not to worry. I’m thinking ya, NOT WORRY - - -my ass. - -I’m telling you the days of KU just dominating the Big 12 are over , and that’s not a knock against Bill - -it’s just a cold hard fact PERIOD. - no Doubt Drew and staff can recruit , so now we have Baylor where they are at - -you have Tech with Beard , going to be some really stiff competition - -now Drew has Brown on top of everything else. - You combine that with the looming NCAA investigation and recruits really not knowing how that will turn out just might be enough to keep them away. Just means Bill and staff gonna have to suck it up put in een more time and sell the School. Brown even mentioned about the looming investigation notknowing what was going to happen.

  • @wissox Careful, bro. I about got run off of here for saying Drew wasn’t a good coach.

  • @BShark I didn’t say he was better than Coach Self, wouldn’t want him as our coach. I’m just saying I give him more credit than most. Let me put it this way - in the Big12 I’d go Self #1, Beard 2, Huggins 3, Drew 4, Kruger 5, and then whoever. And depending on what happens this coming season - man, I hope we have one! - I might even (based not on what they have done, but what they are going to do) put Drew ahead of Huggie. Alright firing squad, I’m blindfolded, fire when ready…

  • Big 12 championships

    Bruce Weber 2

    Scott Drew 0

Drew doesn’t have a FF either hmm.

  • @Marco for body of work I would say Kruger > Drew. Kruger took K State to elite 8, Florida to Final 4 and Oklahoma to Final 4. That team had one star but played as a team. Gutted their way to the FF4 before being humiliated by Villanova.

I think lon made an error building around Tre Young and his roster took a couple years to recover.

Drew has been doing well over the last half decade but he still has a lot to prove.

  • @approxinfinity agree with this. He had a great year last year. However 6 of the last 8 years he has double digit losses including 2 NIT appearances.

  • @BShark there you go. A higher floor is the mark of a good coach, a higher ceiling the mark of a good recruiter, or something like that.

  • @approxinfinity I was debating Kruger-Drew, to be honest, and won’t argue that.

  • Drew does less with more.

  • Scott Drew is a good, not great coach. Bill Self is a great coach. Chris Beard is on his way to being a great coach. Bob Huggins was a great coach.

On a scale of 1-10 with 1 being the worst coach, 5 being average, and 10 being the best, I would rate Scott Drew as a 7. Very few programs would say they wouldn’t take Scott Drew as a coach, KU happens to be one of those very few programs.

Realistically, how many schools would not interview Scott Drew if they had an opening and Scott Drew expressed interest in that job. In PAC-12, maybe Arizona, but at this point I would doubt Arizona would pass on Drew. In the Big 12, KU passes and that’s it. In the SEC, Kentucky would be the only school pass him up. In the ACC, Duke and UNC would be it. In the B10, maybe Michigan St. and in the Big East, maybe Villanova.

I feel comfortable in saying that Scott Drew has elevated Baylor to a point that very few schools wouldn’t at least bring in Scott Drew for an interview if Drew expressed interest in that job. The 4 top tier blue blood programs (Duke, Kansas, Kentucky, and North Carolina (these are specifically in alphabetical order)) are probably the only ones who don’t bring Drew in for at least an interview at this point.
