New 2019 Recruiting

  • And I don’t think we end up offering Hyland unless he goes to prep school, which at this point might be the most likely outcome. Would be a RS candidate here anyway.

  • @jayballer73 he’s been in Australia, maybe he’s coming back home

I mentioned this somewhere recently, can’t remember exactly where. But it makes a ton of sense. He’s a guy that really needs to get stronger and develop. Will be a fantastic college player but not right away.

  • Time for our best recruiters to stand up to the plate - -hit the slam with Jalen. - - -Time for our best closers to step on the mound and close the deal with Jalen – let’s do this , no pussy footing around. - Time to come Home Jalen - become part of Jay hawk Nation. - - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

  • Actually heard a rumor Walker will be in town this weekend but I don’t put much stock into it.

He is plan on visiting today

  • @jayballer73 @Texas-Hawk-10 I know you guys were mentioning it on instinct but it seems there is smoke picking up for Jalen Wilson indeed potentially ending up back at Michigan. Certainly something to keep an eye on. Michigan people are confident.

    Wilson, not Walker.

I’ll be more nervous if Howard actually schedules a visit with him. As of now it’s really just KU and UNC involved really seriously.

  • @jayballer73 I don’t think he is going to sign with us. We’ll zero in and try to nab Walker, concentrate on the '20 class.

ya that’s what I’m afraid of - -just got this feeling with the hiring of Howard - he re-commits.

Kinda sucks Cause the MAIN two that had recruited him is gone , - -we shall see

From what I’ve read Howard DOES have a visit scheduled with him. - I believe it is on the 5th after he gets back from N Carolina.

My bad buddy, went and checked again - -no I can’t see where he has anything set with them - - -YET - -it is the N Carolina visit that I mistook it for - he is visiting them the 3rd-5th of June,

Kind of funny Michigan fans seem to think they have a leg up on Ku & UNC because of the playing time Jalen where he said he wasn’t coming to a school to sit. - -that’s where they think they have the leg up - figuring he will get more time at Michigan then of the either Schools. - -Sorry I’m not seeing that at KU – I think he steps right in and starts here. – - ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

  • Well , for what it’s worth. - -Just checked 247 sports and I see that we re-gained our CB Pick. - -Not sure who it was but someone has given us a CB pick for Jalen since this morning. - -The way it is now is - - - -Michigan is at 44 % - -down for 50 % this morning - -and KU - -is now at 39 % - -back up from 33 % this morning so there you go. - - ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

About to be. Likely to visit.

Very high ceiling kind of kid. Hasn’t been playing basketball very long. French national. He’s about 6’10 235 now with a 7’2 wingspan. Suuuuper skilled but raw for his size. Reminds me some of Kerry Blackshear.

  • I’ll ask my charter school peeps in Salem what they know and report back.

  • @FarmerJayhawk Appreciated. In trying to piece stuff together here I did some looking online. He announced a final four schools previously about a week ago. It would appear that he cut Georgia from that list and added KU.

  • That’s a big dude who can run the floor. Interesting

  • Nah’shon Hyland will choose between Uconn and VCU next week. No KU here

Tells you how much they like McBride.

  • Bilau look really good shooting in a storage room on a rim that’s bent down three inches in the front …

    https://n.rivals.com/content/prospects/2019/josaphat-bilau-233297

  • Dated 9/2018, but good info, “A promising junior campaign ended early for Parisian center Josaphat Bilau, as the former Riverdale Baptist student injured himself last season. Losing a skilled, 6’10”, 245 pound performer was devastating to the Crusaders, while being shelved seemingly stunted his on court development.

    Yes, and no.

True, playing would have put him on the radar of more schools, given Riverdale being a known DMV recruiting spot. Nevertheless, via Summer 2017 and running with Team Thrill in ’18, scholarship offers from Kansas state, Georgetown, Illinois, Penn State and Texas Tech have been received. NC State, WVU, Louisville, Maryland Wake Forest and Gonzaga have all shown interest.

That love is predicated on Bilau’s ability to play away and near the cup, including shooting, passing and attacking via face up, while also scoring though jump hooks/shots in the painted area. This Class of 2019 guy can rebound, is solid running the floor and defending the rim from a weakside position.

Recruiters see Catch 22 problem with Bilau; given his immense skill set and stated desire to use it, Josephat can find himself floating away from the interior. Add a need to get stronger as necessary improvement, another issue that can be addressed in college.

Bilau has left Riverdale, planning to attend prep school in North Carolina. He has the chops to be a national level recruit.”

  • I’m fine with taking a project big. Plenty of guys for this year but lots of looming uncertainty. If he doesn’t come along you move on after a year but he could easily be part of the post rotation in the 20-21 season.

Exactly. He’ll be the 12th or 13th guy if he even makes it to KU and KU offers.

  • Creeper Shay confirmed he plans to visit KU.

Well , now you did it - - lol you just had to go and put this hi-lite reel on here huh? lol - - I know it’s just me but from what I seen the kid looks decent. - I think what surprised me probably more then anything was his range - -got a lil 3 pt shooting ability - -looked pretty smooth with it. - -runs the floor pretty well - - -ha a little rim protection - - - finishes at the rim - - - having said about his 3 pt ability - -wouldn’t want him to be jacking a lot of 3’s though lol. - -However - he is a 5? right? - - if true - -could be he could move out some - pull the opposing big man out away from the basket.

Not sure how he would fit for this year though - we got quality 5’s already - -Maybe a 4? - I dunno - would be a decent pick up though - who knows? - -looks athletic. - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

  • @jayballer73 Looks like his list has expanded according to Bedore.

    https://twitter.com/GaryBedore/status/1134663044737458183

Josaphat Bilau, 6-10 originally from France, now at SPIRE Institute in Ohio, tells me he has a list of KU, Georgia, Wake Forest, Pitt, Nevada and West Va. and he is working on setting up a visit to KU. We’ll see if anything develops here. KU has 3 schollies available.

Well he looks decent. - -I guess I’m just to easy to convince. - but man says he is looking to make a decision in Early June - and he is still sitting up a visit for here? - - Man that gonna be quick.

I thought he had removed Georgia when he added us. Don’t think probably he will land here - -I dunno though I’m sure he knows he needs to develop - -maybe he will be willing to come in and work play some spot minutes. - -looks like he is athletic - -can protect the rim some - nice stroke - -finishes at the rim - -could be decent in time

  • Ok so here’s what I’ve gathered so far. My connection at his former HS in Winston Salem said he’s a pretty unassuming kid. He hasn’t been in the US for long and as a black French guy moving into the American South, he had a bit of a rough go of it. Just culture shock. This is a charter school with a pretty stringent disciplinary structure, so just wasn’t a good fit. I didn’t hear of any handler/guardian issues.

He’s really ambitious though, unlike a lot of French guys. From a basketball standpoint, he’s a pretty quick learner and takes to the perimeter aspects of the game more quickly than the post. Which is common. He’s not a jump out of the gym athlete. More of a smooth player. They think he may end up around 7’0. Needs to get stronger, but shouldn’t be a problem once he gets into a legit S&C program. I was told his frame is “a sight to behold.” And this is my opinion, but once he gets some legit coaching and conditioning, this could he a steal. Worst case, he doesn’t develop and leaves.
