2019 Roster

  • Looking through what KU’s going to be losing this year to graduation. On offense, KU’s not losing much. Bender is gone along with Sims, Booker, and Kerr Johnson, but there’s still a lot of pieces coming back next year. KU only loses one starter on the OLine that has improved quite a bit from the beginning of the year and will only get better with another offseason.

    Defense is another issue though. KU is losing just about every player in the front seven that started. I think the only DLineman and LB’s coming back that played a lot of snaps are Azur Kamara at DE, and Kyron Johnson and Denzel Feaster at LB. The secondary is returning in tact and will definitely be the strength the of the defense next season.

    There are a lot of returning pieces next season on offense, specifically the running game and with a coach who definitely favors a run first attack, I don’t think KU takes a step back next year and may actually be better with Miles in charge.

  • @Texas-Hawk-10 LES IS HERE

  • Thankfully there’s a boatload of DL talent left in Texas and Louisiana for the new staff to poach.

  • Les Miles “85 real scholarship players”

    YESSSSS

  • Les on Hawk Talk said 14 HS coaches have already contacted him saying they have player(s) for him. Going to get interesting fast.

    Getting Legendre back in the fold would be amazing.

  • The majority, if not the entire staff should be in place by the 24th when the dead period ends.

    Good idea, makes a ton of sense.

    DAM bud - -wouldn’t that be sweet if Les could get Legendre to come back? - -you never know, if Les gets after him I would think we have a good chance. - -

    Sounds like for sure there are a lot of Coach’s that would like to see their boys talk to Les. -You know Les like he said when he was talking about walk on’s if they deserve even being a walk on then he would let them walk on - - Same way with Scholi’s – Les isn’t going to take a body to take a body. - So if these Coach’s have players they said they have for Les they are at least fairly decent I would think. - Good chance our recruiting may not be that bad after all.

    Heard MULTIPLE times from different people and read people streaming during the presser- LSU fans telling KU people Les is a really good recruiter and is a players Coach. - -maybe things are better already. - - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

  • Offensively there is definitely a strong chance to continue to improve. Rickner really hasn’t done terrible with making this offensive line better as the year goes on. The defense will need over hauling up front forsure but some good players will return in the secondary. The key right off the bat is make sure you sell the guys currently here so our scholarship numbers don’t dip anymore, then as documented he has to fill the remaining 14 spots we have open. I will stress all BS aside, it will take time friends. I’ve seen some people already predicting a 7 win season next year and I just don’t think that quick of a turnaround is going to happen. Our schedule is much better next season than it was this season (second worse non conference SOS of power 5). I’m predicting a 4 win season and that’s a good start IMO. We haven’t won that many games in 9 seasons so it would be hard to be disappointed in it out of the gates (MM won 2, Gill 3, Weis 1 and Beaty 0 in their first seasons here).

  • So the focus on recruiting needs to be:

    1. Miles style QB;

    2. Defensive line;

    3. Linebackers;

    4. Wide receivers;

    5. Then…

  • @kjayhawks The schedule isn’t that much more difficult next year. 9 of the teams are the same every year. BC is a middle of the road team every year so they should be a good measuring stick game for Miles first team. Beaty has closed the talent gap between KU and the rest of the B12 and KU did lose 3 games that were winnable this year in B12 play.

    7-5 is probably best case scenario next year, but I don’t think 5 wins is unrealistic because KU was a couple of plays this year away from sitting at 5 wins.

  • @Texas-Hawk-10 I agree, I just think our non conference is a little tougher going on the road to Boston College, who was ranked a few weeks ago. We do get good home draws in conference of KSU, Baylor and Tech. I just don’t think that a bowl game is realistic, I’d be happy to be wrong. I predicting 4 wins but 5 wouldn’t shock me.
