  • 80 mph wind… not a drop of rain in Lawrence

  • Don’t have to climb up to trim the dead limbs off the pin oak in the back yard now though. 🙂

  • @DanR way to think positive lol

  • Some rain, but not really much in Olathe. The storms must have stayed north of the metro area.

  • Table rock lake, at least 8 casualties, maybe more. Weather related. dble dd had tornados in Iowa.

Ya that is what was crazy. – officially at the airport they only recorded 0;12 hundredths of rain. - -When the storm was coming in along with these 80 plus mile hour winds there was a huge cloud bank of dust. - It was like a wall cloud on a dust cloud really crazy

  • It has not been a fun summer in Kansas. Several days over 100. Stuck in a high pressure system for two months. No typical Kansas breezes.

102 and humid today before this freaky front blew through in 10 minutes before heading SE to nail the Ozarks.

  • Yeah we get big wind here all the time. Worst I’ve been out in the field for was 119mph. Avg 14 mph of every minute of every day. 80 mph plus a few times this year so far. The most wicked wind storm I recall had a little tornado in it and dropped 5.5 pound hail stones 6 miles east of town. The ground looked like the surface of the moon with all the craters in the worked fields.

Glad to hear you made it our ok @jayballer73 no serous damage to your property I assume.

  • @jayballer73 Now saying 17 dead. It has been about 20 years but I have ridden the “Duck boats” several times. I believe they were created for the military in WWII. If my memory serves they don’t move very fast in the water.

  • Saw the video, heart breaking! Life jackets? Could they have been stuck or jammed in and not been able to get out?

  • @dylans Holy smokes , where you live-- I’m not coming lol. - - Ya We are fine thanks for asking it was crazy weather for sure. - Like Dan said been a crazy summer - -really dry , shortly before all this yesterday earlier in the day like I said it was 101 and heat index 108. - - - just a lot of power outage and tree’s down. - But we are fine - -thanks again

just sad. Just brings back memories of a long time ago when a tornado came across Lake Pomona - - and caught the whipper wheel out on the Lake - -not a good situation. - -Did they end up saying or not - -any children of the 17? - I pray not , sad for any loss of life but little kids? - -hope not
