Still not sure

  • Well read where KU has acknowleged about subpoena from the FBI. - - Still not sure if this is bad like it sounds - -or what , just don’t feel very good about Silvio. Even though all parties still say they feel very good about our position with this. Not sure if they are just stroking us or what? - what you think? - - ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

  • Bill saying definitively that he believes De Sousa will play continues to give me a piece of mind.

  • Per CBS (via Yahoo Sports): “Kansas did not explicitly acknowledge that it had been subpoenaed as part of the scandal, but Yahoo reported that contact with lawyers and document experts analyzing the language Kansas used in response to their records request “is an acknowledgement of the school being subpoenaed by the federal government.” The school replied to requests for records by stating it has “records responsive to your request” and that it is “cooperating with the government inquiry,” all of which implies “tacit” confirmation, according to Yahoo.”

    Anyone see anything more definitive?

  • “I haven’t heard one thing to the contrary with any of our guys,” Self began. “Now that doesn’t mean that that can’t happen. But I haven’t heard one thing to the contrary — all our guys were cleared by the NCAA. They were eligible last year and we haven’t heard anything that that was not the case still.”

“What we’ve read is the same thing as everybody else has read,” Self said. “But to the extent of how that translates to eligibility, we haven’t been told anything on that.”

Although Self stated neither he nor the university have access to all the details surrounding the allegations, he painted an optimistic picture regarding De Sousa. “Based on what we’ve been told,” he said, “right now we’re in a good place.”

  • @HighEliteMajor

The original story was written by Pat Forde which makes it immediately unreliable.

  • KU was probably subpoena’d, but depending on what the subpoena said, they cannot talk about the subpoena or the contents of it, so there’s no way to acknowledge it.

We already know from public information that KU has been mentioned in the scandal. It would be a surprise if they had not been asked for more information.

I hear ya for sure. I just get a really bad feel that when it’s said and done - -Silvio will be done , hope I’m wrong - -and curious how long this ends up dragging out. Then we run into the scenario that’s been discussed multiple times – - if this is not resolved by the beginning of the season do we play Silvio and take the chance of forfeiting any games he played? - -possible championships?

On the other side of the fence a person would think/feel like if what the Coach’s are saying - what Silvio is saying - they all feel really good about his chances then one would have to think ok - -so then everything is good - take the chance and play him. Question being is Coach just stroking the media/fans saying what he thinks they wanna hear? - that everything is ok? - - I just don’t know - I sure in the hell if I was the Coach and this drags out till the season MAN sure the hell wouldn’t know - do I take that chance or not?- - -I got this feeling and I’m sure I’m not the only one just got this feeling Coach isn’t telling everything he already knows. - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

  • KU can always play De Sousa until conference play starts and by then, if there is any eligibility concerns, it can sit him during conference play. Winning the Conference Tournament gives KU an automatic berth to the Tournament even if all the non-con games are taken away and KU can still go and win the NCAA without him without any risk.
