Trae Young Mania

  • Did you say Trae Young is a whiner? Yes, I thought you did. Whiner.

Well, why are they calling the wrap around, push off on me now? And at home. Don’t they know l have a cold. It’s not fair. Boo hoo. Whiner, l’m just pleading or begging. Super stars don’t whine.

  • Jawing/whining like Trae’s to the officials is generally and thankfully limited to the NBA. Perhaps he should suit up in a striped jersey next game so he can perform both roles (player and referee).

  • @HighEliteMajor not sure how to take this!!?? Doke would have drawn 5 technicals tonight with that behavior.

  • @JayHawkFanToo they are just prepping a new golden boy for the empty seat league.

Constant media adulation tends to make me dislike great players (like Tom Brady) but when I block out all that noise he really is fun to watch.

  • Do we need a category for OU games? I figure we’ll play OU once or twice more and this guy will be no longer in my universe.

  • @DanR Sorry if I created a new category…didn’t mean to. It can be deleted, or whatever.

  • @Blown You should create a new Tray Young category so I can avoid it

  • @DanR just close your eyes.

  • OK

  • @DanR ou is not a team it’s Trae young🤮

Kind of reminds me how Smart from OSU used to whine and cry every time he flopped and they didn’t call the charge or would call him for a block. - - ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

YOU could of avoided this one - -so why did you open it when you read the header of the thread?

  • I’ve had my issues about Trae -mainly some of the shot selection and such there has been others but this is one of my big issues with him.

However he IS a really good player, I think last night was another example for me anyways where I actually felt Trae played a pretty good overall game. I mean I know I think ESPN yes does have their nose buried really deep up this kid butt , and I agree to put one players stat line above a box score for an entire game is just sad.

Hell why don’t they do that for Bagley - - Ayton - -Carter or even Allen for that matter to just name a few if their gonna pull that crap -anyways though having said that last night he was pretty solid actually.

Yes the kid was playing sick , should we downgrade Trae for that? - -give him hell for that? - -ummm No, actually the contrary, I mean he went 10-20 from the filed 50% - -4-9 from the three - decent , 8-9 from the line , yes he had 6 turnovers but yet even that is a little less then what he had been averaging.

True he had only one assist but his team mates missed some where they should of finished from him. - -I AM NOT a Trae Young fan by far - BUT I have to give credit where credit is due - -and last night I thought he played actually pretty well even though they lost, he took what I felt possibly 2 questionable 3’s other then that for the most part played pretty dam good. - - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

  • @Gunman LeBron does.

I’m sure you’re right. Don’t watch NBA. Live close to a grade school with the lower goals. No refs and for the most part they do a good job of referng their own games. From my car l can see all the traveling, carrying, fouling l need and l don’t have to pay for parking.

  • That shot on the fast break he made last night was ridiculous with a capital RIDICULOUS.

I think when we remember that the dude is 19 years old we might take greater appreciation for what he does. When I was 19, oh forget it!

  • @Blown

I’m curious if his whining has always been a part of his personality, or if he is just gearing up for the NBA.

Whining is REQUIRED in the league! Trae will fit right in. There has been talk that Lebron is pushing to play with Trae. Stereo whining! lol

But heck… Trae can ball so I will just focus on his play. OU almost pulled it off last night with a very sick Young.

  • Anyone else think its weird that they have a Trae tracker on the bottom screen with the score for the last games?

  • @drgnslayr the adulation might be getting to him and exploding his ego. Jawing with the refs every other time down the court doesn’t seem to fly as well in other situations.

you think about him being a Freshman and 19 yrs old - -compare that to SVI being 20 yrs old and a SR - -least we forget how young SVI was when he came to KU - -now at the age of 20 SVI coming thru. - - being brutally honest - -that thing he threw up on the top of the backboard -I don’t really think he had that planned for that to end in that result - -I think he was just trying to draw a foul in the act of shooting and just flung it up and get REALLY lucky. - -If people try to sell that - - -that was exactly the way he intended for that to happen - -that he was say that was actually a planned shot. - - I call bull shit. - - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

Ya for sure, ESPN has a love fest going on with the kid – little media darling - -an ESPN highlight. - -ESPN’S love fest between Trae - and then add in the Ball boys - -they have their hands full roflmao. - - ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

  • @Jayballer54

I agree that the on top of the backboard basket was a fluke and not planned; to say it was intended that way is beyond stupid. His late turnover, when he tried to take on the entire WVU defense was a poor play when he should have passed to any of the other players that were wide open. After the last play of the game he seemed shocked that nothing was called…hello, nothing needed to be called…

No doubt he is one the more exciting players in recent memory but all the adulation by the press, particularly ESPN, is turning people off, the same way it has worked for players like LeBron, Curry and Durant among others.

  • @JayHawkFanToo there were 2 open guys

  • @Crimsonorblue22

Yep, he tried to do too much by himself instead of playing as a team. Maybe he is starting to feed off the hype???

  • It is a monumental weight for a 19 year old, holding up gloriously under so much attention, adulation and microscopic public pressure. Last night Fran pointed out that the KID was not smiling much. Losses can eradicate impulses to smile, in a heartbeat. The KID looked under the weather last night vs. WVU; and, yeah, his interactions with officials looked unbecoming. I hope he gets back on the upswing (tho not against us) because when the game comes easy for him he is about as exciting to watch as any college hoops player I have ever seen. Predictably, opposing coaches have furrowed into his head…and found ways to thwart his successes. The hungry media can certainly overeat and spew forth unpleasant gas.

  • @Jayballer54 @JayHawkFanToo when I say a shot is ridiculous I think it implies lucky, amazing, whatever. Wasn’t quite saying he made it because he is so fantastically skilled.

  • @wissox

Sorry, I was referring to some comments I saw elsewhere that indicated he did it by design.
