Silvio

  • Ok my prediction. De Sousa makes his grand entrance I say at the first opportunity of the under 12 minute time out, That’s what I say - so let it be written - - so let it be done lol. - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

  • Well one thing I think we will see, I think our free throw shooting will go up with Silvio now available more fluid around the rim - -attacks the rim going to be sweet maybe - hopefully 3 pt attempts will go down some - -more balanced. - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

  • Waiting paid off…ok, one free and one to go…there is hope for Billy. Maybe some public pressure pushed the ncaa to make a decision on at least one of the players. Why do I feel like a KU hostage was freed in order to cut a deal? Billy may be that one hostage that just doesn’t get freed from the mean officials investigating his case. I just don’t understand WHY all the work was submitted from KU, and the ncaa simply can’t review the information and RULE. All we want is a ruling. Hell any ruling would be better than this unfair, undue influence. Either suspend him indefinitely, or FREE Billy Preston. Silvio’s case should’ve taken longer because of his foreign origins. Billy had several weeks and all the paperwork needed to resolve this case in a sufficient fashion. He also has served enough suspension already.

Hang in there Billy this too shall pass, sooner or later.

Agree. I’d like to see more than 4 minutes but that won’t happen against WVU.

He played as much as Mitch today, heh.

  • Welcome to the big time, Silvio; 4 minutes, 1 TO, 1 PF. Don’t despair, it will get better and the Jayhawk Nation is behind you.

  • Silvio wasn’t great, but he was productive and didn’t hurt KU in his few minutes. He looked like he belonged which is something to build on for him. He’ll only get better the more he practices and plays in games and should be able to give KU a solid 8-10 minutes by the end of the year.

What exactly were you expecting exactly? - -he only played four minutes and we ALL knew or should of known he wasn’t going to show much today, pretty hard to make any kind of observation out of a 4 minute stint his first time out. - - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

  • Silvio looked as raw as we all expected but man is this exciting. It gives this young man plenty of time to get acclimated and become comfortable. 10 games from now he may start to be a factor with his rebounding and ability to alter shots. Man he is muscular, too. He will be enormous next season after a year of proper diet and lifting. Hawks!

  • @JayHawkFanToo Haha, yep…just glad to see him on the court. I feel better already.

This sounds about right. Ease him in and prepare him to be the primary back-up (or start if Doke leaves) next season. He definitely has a D1 body wow.

  • The conference is getting interesting and Silvio could be the Difference towards the end of the season. Not that he would be a big contributor but he would provide valuable minutes not available up to now. I notice Malik brought up the ball several times, hopefully Devonte can get some rest although likely not in Morgantown…unless the game is out of hand either way.

  • Silvio looks athletic and fairly strong, but is completely lost right now. Once he figures things out he’ll be much better. I’m not sure if this will be this year or next, but Silvio will be a nice get for us. The only thing I was disappointed in was he was so lost. One play he just spun in circles while 3 or 4 other Hawks dove for the loose ball. Other times he got spun atound by KSU players so he couldn’t rebound either. He will get better as the game slows down, but as @Crimsonorblue22 says it’ll take some time.

  • @dylans He looked like he was giving it his all. Running around in circles l attribute to Silvio trying to play help defense. Better moving around then standing ‘like a deer in the headlights’, right?

  • @Gunman Oh yeah, lots of energy, lots of athleticism. Just no clue what KU is doing yet. (The play I was referring to he didn’t run, he didn’t move off his spot he was so lost. He was so lost he couldn’t even give effort) We need him to get up to speed as quickly as possible, I just have no clue how long this will take. Silvio can be a very nice player for KU yet this year.

  • Hey, even if Silvio just stands near that little circle beneath the hoop and attempts to level any testy guard who races the ball into his space, he will have earned his few minutes. Just think what impact he might have laid on that Arizona State trio of speedy guards. Our defense leaked like a sieve in that loss.

  • @REHawk At this point, he might just be those 5 fouls we talked about early in the season that we needed from someone.

  • Folks, I have a question about Sam Cunliffe, I expected more minutes for him. He is extremely athletic and plays solid D thus lack of PT is perplexing for me.

He doesn’t understand the game of basketball. Always an issue when playing for Self.

  • @BShark how is what you just described different than what the rest of the team occassionally exhibits every game?

Those 5 fouls/5minutes are huge right now. May be the difference in a loss or win more than once for the rest of the year.

    It is.

  • @Gunman

The 5 minutes would be great, the 5 fouls not so much as they get the other team to the bonus situation that much sooner which is not a desirable thing.

Which is why teams don’t foul Dok more.

  • @BShark the eye test reveals zero difference between the mistakes the starters make and the mistakes Sam makes. I see zero difference
