Tall people make more money.

Next week, Josh Jackson will be guaranteed over $17,000,000 over 3 years. He deserves it. He will be a star and a major player for a long time sans injury.
Frank Mason, http://www.kuathletics.com/news/2017/3/6/mens-basketball-2017-postseason-awards.aspx will be selected in the second round with 9 other point guards that are projected to be a better pick.
As a second round pick, if he is offered a contract, the guaranteed minimum is around $800,000.There is no guarantee that a contract will be offered. If none comes, the next option to stay with the NBA is to play in the D-League where the average salary is between $30-40 thousand.
This reminds me of the Heisman Trophy winner Doug Flutie who was drafted #285.
Look at the PG’s who will be drafted ahead of him and how 3 of them faired against Frank Mason and KU. Jawun is the only one that would rate a tie.
Some people say that Milwaukee wants him and wants him on their roster as the 49th pick.
Tall people make more money.

Replying to @si_ncaabb and @JeremyWoo A lot of people seem to talk about Mason’s height as an “issue”, yet he’s taller than Jawun Evans, who no one sees a problem with.
-
No worries my friends. Frank is going to make money playing basketball. The kid is a warrior in the paint. In fact he’s perfected the art of going into the paint. He’ll pay his dues but he’ll get paid his dues.
Going on out on a limb? He might be the best in the world at finishing at the rim. He’s sic…

Evans is listed as 6’1" and Mason as 5’11".
-
@JayHawkFanToo but he’s not, read those links
-
You are right. Mason is 1/4" taller without shoes.
-
@JayHawkFanToo I’m always right!️

I feel like there will be a surprise next Wednesday night. Thirteen teams wanted a look at him. He graded out well in the combine. I can’t wait to here Jay Bilas say, “What a great pick.”
-
Seems tall people and ‘young’ people make more money…Though Mason is 1/4" taller, Evans is 3 years younger (age 20 vs. 23)…but I believe Frank’s grit and determination are his greatest assets. Go. Frank. Go.

The Kings???!!!
Tiny Archibald was short, and the best KC King I can remember.

Isaiah Thomas of the Celtics is even shorter and we saw how well he is doing…

Ball’s dad said his son would not play for anyone but the Lakers. Magic seems to be more impressed with Josh, so he brought him back for another look. Will Josh move past Mr. Ball? Also, news that Lebron might move to the Lakers. He is a resident of LA.
-
@wrwlumpy Josh looks like the #2 pick now. If you are going to take a 6’7 athlete with great basketball IQ and an awkward jumper, take the one who can at least play defense.
I still think Johnathan Isaac is the steal of the entire class. I hope he falls to the T-Wolves. It also looks to me like Philly is going to trade back two spots and draft DeAaron Fox. Only makes sense if JJ is off the board though. I’d love to see a JJ, Simmons, Embiid lineup. That is a loooong team.
For what it’s worth, Mason is projected to go to Philly at 46. Although, Kings have had him in for 2 workouts now. They are pick 34. Every week, he keep inching up the boards.
-
This will probably be the first time I stay up to listen to round 2.
-
Yesterday the talk was that the Lakers had told Josh they would pick him at #2 and this is why he cancelled the workout with the Celtics. Not any more. Josh is now being talked as going #1 to the Celtics.

I didn’t realize that Markkanen’s dad played for Roy at Kansas…
“He is the son of Pekka Markkanen, a former professional basketball player who played basketball at Kansas for one season under Roy Williams”
-
@wrwlumpy Josh is a competitor. I have to believe that he would find a way to will a team like Washington to something greater than a 9-22 record. Maybe that’s not fair to Fultz but Josh has the desire and the frame to impose his will on all parts of the court.
There was a graphic showing the decline of short PG performance being markedly more drastic than tall PGs, and that’s something to consider with Thomas. He’s not young and unless he’s a major outlier he’s approaching the edge of that cliff. So maybe that scares them into grabbing a PG.
If you take Jaylen Brown and plug him into Kansas’s system last year, does he do what Josh did? If you give Josh 42 minutes over three playoff games against Cleveland does he give you 16 points 2 reb and 2 assists? I think he gives you more.

Yeah, I was crying about it earlier. But in hindsight I don’t think he would’ve been much help. Too little of an inside game for a big guy and KU had enough trey gunners last year.

Spoke with a friend who coached ball in Petersburg tonight about Frank. He told me Amari has amazing handles. I know I joked about it before…but 2031 guys. Return of the Mason. Book it. #BIAM RCJGKU

Self thinks Frank could sneak into the first round.
