Who Was It That Told Me There Was No Chance Bridges Would Be Back At MSU?

  • @wissox

It really was not a big deal nationally. I visit regularly with friends in both coast that are big college basketball fans and most did not even know about it or read it and just ignore it. The only publication that harped on it was the KC Star and we all know its agenda so it is really not a big surprise.

Think about it. How many serious scandals have there been with basketball players this year? Lots, and occasionally someone will mention it but it really is not discussed much. Unfortunately, modern society is pretty used to this type of issues and it is no longer that big of a deal. It is what it is.

  • @JayHawkFanToo I think it was an embarrassment. Not only to his family but KU too. Doesn’t matter what happened he needs to show some constraint. I wish we could hear the whole story, but still he can’t damage a car. I did dumb stuff but nothing like that. Those gals and guys represent KU and they are taught that. I still love josh Jackson and think he’s a great kid, but he did mess up. There are consequences.

  • @jayballer54 said in Who Was It That Told Me There Was No Chance Bridges Would Be Back At MSU?:

@wissox I think your train of thought is just a tad of base. - -Were you the so called " embarrassment to your parents at anytime in your life? Everyone including you make mistakes but not necessarily an embarrassment. - - -BUT to each his own - -Once again I will continue to say an AWSOME KID, You have a great day. - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

I never ended up having mugshots taken, court dates, stories about me causing 3000$ worth of damage to another persons car, never been cuffed, never been mentioned in the paper, so no, don’t think I was an embarrassment to my parents. Sure I made mistakes, but criminal acts are in a different category of mistakes. Mistakes are forgetting to turn off the coffee pot, or taking a wrong turn or whatever. So sure everyone makes mistakes, but not everyone terrorizes (no matter how misguided she may be) another woman. Sorry, it’s your train of thought that’s derailed.

  • Allonzo Trier coming back. WUT.

  • @BShark oh Wow! Season really depends on what Ayton turns out to be though if you as me… They will have as good of guard play as anybody. Or at least they should. I think they’ll probably have to play a 4 out though. Going to really miss Markenen’s ability to stretch the floor, rebound and guard a larger player.

Not to mention that Stumps still has to break through that elite 8 glass.

  • @Kcmatt7

Give Self that Zona team and he is winning the natty for sure.

JR Trier, FR Ayton, FR Randolph, FR Lee, SO Alkins. Also SR PJC and Ristic, JR Comanche. These are all like 4 and 5 star guys. Crazy.

  • @Crimsonorblue22 And among those consequences should be 2 hours of community service per week to be performed in Lawrence 30 minutes a day 4 days a week for the next 50 weeks…

  • Tait tweeted that we shouldn’t get our hopes up that JJ will return because we’ll just set ourselves up for disappointment.

  • @wissox I wish that my hopes were up for this but Bridges and Jackson are in different situations. Josh has a very legit chance to be the overall #1 pick of the entire draft. It would be incredibly hard to pass that up. Has a potential #1 pick ever returned? That is a real question. Curious to hear any thoughts on who the most unexpected returnee to college was .

  • @wissox Oh I’m sorry I’m so glad that you can be the judge jury and convictioner. no matter the case whether you got told or not you was embarrassing to your parents. no need to try an and come off as holier then thou. I think your trying to come off as some saint - -I call BULL SHIT you are far from perfect…I think it sucks your trying to come off holier then thou. Damm Really? - -Maybe you need to step the hell back and think again. You by far don’t know the whole story. how quick you want to judge. worried about the scared program more then the individual that really sucks. shows where your train of thought is at… kids make mistakes. YOU DID FOR SURE. you know you did. dam I get really tired of this bullshit. more worried about the scared security of the program then the player. screw that almost makes me puke. have we gotten to that point - -oh the program? OMG really TELL ME AGAIN HOW YOU A SAINT. get off me. - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY. - - - OK kick me out of this site - -I don’t give a dam some people here are just pathetic.

  • @wissox You said “I never ended up having mugshots taken, court dates, stories about me causing $3000 worth of damage to another persons car, never been cuffed, never been mentioned in the paper, so no, don’t think I was an embarrassment to my parents. You are right on point. Folks that ignore your points simply have a different set of values. We see it throughout our society. Why should it be a surprise here?

@jayballer54 Your response here is very unfortunate. I have no idea what would possess someone to make a post like that on this site. You can be tired of this “bull****” all you want. But I’ll give you some enlightenment – there is right and wrong in this world and to harshly judge someone’s poor conduct is not an offense to humanity. It is actually what helps inspire and further humanity.

That said, we all know JJ’s conduct was not the end of the world. We can all be hopeful that he takes his medicine, gets his diversion, and learns from this. Perhaps this was the best thing that could have happened to him. No one got hurt, and he can see how close he was to a very bad outcome. It’s up to him to learn from it.

  • Guys simmah down nah! You guys are escalating. Come on, what HEM said is correct; we have different values. Me, I think JJ found himself in an unfortunate situation that I’m pretty sure he regretted, but if I were Apples I’d be damn proud of my son. Regardless, let’s not get personal about this.

  • @BShark

I have seen several Arizona games and no doubt Trier is very talented but is also an absolute ball hog. If I were a top player, I am not sure I would want to play in the same team with him.

  • @HighEliteMajor I am now done

  • Cya ya all we will never see eye to eye and I will not compromise on this - - so be it whatever, I will not sugar coat so this leads us to an inpass I feel sorry for you all but live your world as you see it - but I won’t sorry people are so blinded and /bias - c-GOD for bid this kid made a bad decision i’m tired of trying to sugar coat things - -HAVE A GREAT DAY

  • @joeloveshawks

Bridges is projected in many mock drafts to be a lottery pick. If he is fairly certain to be a lottery pick, I just don’t see him passing on the opportunity.

  • @JayHawkFanToo

He had a pretty bad game in their loss too.

  • @JayHawkFanToo I think it’s awesome

  • @BShark

Much like Devonte, the Tournament was an audition of sorts for the draft and both did not do well so they are back.

  • @JayHawkFanToo but he is expected to be a lottery pick unlike DG

  • Maybe JJ’s actions didn’t make the national press, but seems to me every KU game that was televised nationally, there wasn’t one announcer that failed to mention it. As well as it was covered every step of the way by ESPN. Basketball wise JJ is a great kid. But his actions off the court were an embarrassment to KU.

  • @Crimsonorblue22

Trier a lottery pick? I have not seen any mock draft that has him that high, most have him as a late second round.

  • @HighEliteMajor And your right – -I AM very tired of some of the blinder bull shit, thanks for enlightening me

  • @approxinfinity Can you lock this up?

  • @jayballer54 dude come on. You already said you were walking away. Let it go, let’s talk about something happy or take a break.

  • Locking this one up.

  • @JayHawkFanToo I thought we were talking about bridges

  • People’s opinion of Josh are widely varied. Very few think he is anything but a great basketball player. His jumper is his main flaw on the court. His problems are mostly off the court.

He is a young MAN who made some bad decisions. Therefore he must be held accountable for his actions. The LPD and KUathletics departments are handling this and he will be held resposible.

The main issue for fans is how horribly it reflects upon the university. I’ve heard life long Jayhawk fans say he should be kicked off the team. He would’ve kicked his own boy off the team so I have no doubt he was serious.

The main issue for Josh is he needs to figure out how to control his emotions before he causes himself or someone else serious harm. What if in a fit of rage he had a weapon other than his extremely athletic 6’ 7" body? What if he was driving? What if it had been a guy? Would he have stopped?

Unfortunately Josh put us in a bad situation. We should never have to wonder if the players are out of control, or if the punishment fits the actions.

Thankfully no one was hurt and nothing was damaged that can’t be fixed.

This is extremely polarizing. Some are ready to give a free pass. Some want to hang the kid. I would like to see genuine remorse for his actions. I don’t care about any punishment that is handed down as long as Josh has learned his lesson and becomes a better man for it.

  • @jayballer54 It’ll be ok. I know it’s easier said than done, but try to ignore and move on. If you know you will never see eye to eye it may be best to try to take the high road and just skip some posts. I too can get my feathers ruffled over certain posters. I try like heck not to respond, but from time to time I cave.

It’s difficult for me to convey my exact meaning in print. From time to time I come off waaay more abrasive than I intended, sometimes my meaning is completely lost due to my inadequate writing skills. And sometimes I find myself defending a position simply because I don’t like the other arguments presentation- not the principles being argued. I try to get better every day, but some days the patience/understanding isn’t there so I do something else until I’m ready to try again.
