List of transfers...

  • I heard that every year there is a fair number of players that transfer but you don’t really realize how many until you seen the entire list…

    List of players tranfering…

  • @JayHawkFanToo Thanks Too, Had no clue there were so many in one year.

  • I’d like to add my name to that list of transfers, not from one school to another, but from one job to another.

Yes I just typed that on a work computer, come and get me!!!

  • @JayHawkFanToo I noticed this earlier and thought this was a crazy number! Unless they have graduated, they all have to sit a year? Unless coaching change?

  • @Crimsonorblue22

If they have graduated and have one year left of eligibility, get a release from their current school and attend a school that has graduate programs that their current school does not offer, then they are eligible to play immediately; otherwise they have to sit one year. The ability to transfer without sitting out a year when there is a coaching change is one of the proposed NCAA changes but is not in effect yet.

  • I see J-Mychal Reese and his pops are on the list for mid-semester transfers. Since a&m left the BigXII I don’t follow them and since they suck neither does the national media so the Reeses’ being dismissed (rumored drug use) early in the year slipped by me. Looks like we (KU) got lucky on missing out on him/them…

  • Eron Harris might help.

  • Self loves this time of year… it never surprises me when out of the blue we pick up a transfer who can help.

  • Wow, what a list! Does anyone know what happened to “Central Arkansas”, as I counted 12 players transferring !!!

  • @JayHawkFanToo is there a stipulation if it’s within their conference too?

  • @ralster Looks like Central Arkansas got a new coach that decided to clean house. He retained only one player eligible to return and is bringing in nine new scholarship players.

  • Ouch, that is harsh! One minute you’re a baller at Scottie Pippen’s alma mater, and the next minute you’re desperately looking for a new school. I assume they’re not required to sit a year in that situation, correct?

*editing my edit. Having trouble with English and reading comprehension today 🙂

  • @Virgil_Caine I’m not sure what happens when a school does not renew your scholarship. I would hope they would be immediately eligible since they are transferring because their scholarships were not renewed.

  • @justanotherfan It certainly isn’t fair if they aren’t immediately eligible, since they presumably have done nothing wrong, other than the incoming coach wanted his own guys. I would think a coach doing that would be a major red flag, but maybe their fans see it as a sign of a man with a vision.

  • @Crimsonorblue22

Some coaches require that the transferring player does not go to another conference school. It is a controversial area and has gotten some coaches bad publicity for imposing too many conditions.

  • If a player’s scholarship is pulled and he becomes eligible to play at another school immediately, it’d solve the problem for anyone who is willing to transfer from KU. I don’t think it works this way, otherwise we won’t see any kid sitting out after transferring. Or if any kid does not get the deal of having the scholarship pulled and is not eligible immediately at the new school, he must have really pissed his old coach off.

  • That’s a great point, Wishawk, and one I hadn’t thought of. Many transfers are because a coach has basically told the kid he’s not gonna see the court, so a coach could do him the favor of pulling his scholarship so that he can play immediately when he leaves. Sort of like an employer sitting you down to fire you, but giving you an opportunity to resign so you don’t have to put that on your next application, only backwards.
