Interesting TV for this weekend.

  • @wissoxfan83 This just seems weird.

Can’t believe CBS is not having the games, you would think they would want people without cable or dishes able to watch (ie half of kentucky fans in the backwoods).

  • @JRyman

I know as I was watching the Badgers Saturday that a lot of people were complaining about the inability to watch the game because it was on cable. I don’t understand the decisionmaking.

I follow hockey some and was screaming last summer at the TV when I realized I wouldn’t be able to see the Blackhawks on one of the Stanley Cup games because it was on some other cable channel. It makes no sense.

I am excited to get to hear Wayne Larivee call the game Saturday however. I don’t want to hear about Kentucky ad nauseum, and now I won’t have to!

  • @wissoxfan83 Fellow Blackhawks fan without cable, and yeah that annoyed me to no end when I had to find somewhere to watch the game.

  • @wissoxfan83 3 HOURS. REALLY?

Prior to the semifinal games, TBS will air a three-hour onsite pregame show from North Texas beginning at 3 p.m. ET. Ernie Johnson will host the coverage, with analysts Charles Barkley, Clark Kellogg and Kenny Smith. The pregame will also include Greg Gumbel and analysts Seth Davis, Doug Gottlieb, Grant Hill and Reggie Miller.

Glad I don’t have cable and won’t have to put up with all these talking heads who don’t know any more than all of us as to who is going to win.

    ##Go Badgers##

  • @RockChalkinTexas I just want to see Barkley take out Gottlieb, they haven’t worked together since last year when Dougie opened up his mouth about being the white guy in the locker room.

Go Chuck kick his arse for us!!!

  • @RockChalkinTexas

I don’t watch pregame shows, so it could be 234 hours and I wouldn’t care much! The experts are making guesses just like we are as to who is going to win.

@icthawkfan316 so your name serves double purpose, college hoops and hockey? During that hockey game I went to McD’s with my laptop and watched it on there, and drank lots of coffee!

Even more bummed we didn’t make it. I’m imagining who we could have had calling out game…

Would have been special to hear Bob Davis call the game or have a special appearance by Max… Or maybe they would have Kevin Harlan call it… In any case, it could have been a refreshing departure.

  • @bskeet just when I thought I was getting better! Hope to see the future Jhawks play well tonight.

  • @wissoxfan83 Haha, yeah I guess my name does serve a dual purpose (although I’ve never gotten onto a hockey message board). I ended up watching the game at my son’s great-grandfather’s house (the great-grandfather from his mother’s side, who I am not with).

The thing that drove me nuts about the Wisconsin game last Saturday was I flipped over to CBS to see what hot programming they had on that they couldn’t have the games cut into, and they were playing “Punchline” a Tom Hanks comedy from 1988.

  • last Saturday was I flipped over to CBS to see what hot programming they had on that they couldn’t have the games cut into, and they were playing “Punchline”

@icthawkfan316 Yeah. I did the same and they had some equally inane programming on the west coast. What the hell is CBS thinking?

  • Last Saturday I took my son to a school function that was an all day event. I figured the game would be on CBS so the Dish’s Hopper would have it on “Prime Time Anytime” so I didn’t need to set it to record. Luckily my wife is a fan and checked to see the game times and noticed it was on TBS and that I hadn’t set them to record or else I would have missed most of the first game and would have had to watch the second live… I hate commercials. I thought the same thing about the people that don’t have cable and still use bunny ears. Loved the half of Kentucky joke!

  • @JRyman=Too funny, will google it to see what I can find.

  • @JRyman

This link is for you -

30 years ago I had a “deliverance-like” situation on the Buffalo River in Arkansas. Fortunately, I was traveling with a true power forward. Sometimes… size matters!

  • @drgnslayr I actually got to meet some folk that live in the area of Georgia where this was filmed and took place. The inbred banjo playing kid, is a real life inbred, but he can’t play the guitar. His mom and dad or aunt and uncle as it is, never told him he made any money from the movie and they kept all his checks. When they died he got a check and didn’t know what it was for. They used a lot of locals for the movie and a lot of them still live in the area and are doing very well for themselves living off of the royalties of the movie.

But they all told me that this movie is not far fetched, that there are clans that don’t come out of the woods and if you bother them they will try and hurt you.

Burt Reynolds actually did break his leg in the movie, it was not in the script, but they didn’t have time to wait for him to heal due to the damn being put in on the river so they rewrote his part and the end of the movie.

I have seen pictures of the woods and mountains of North Georgia and it looks beautiful, I’m just not going.

That sayin on my post came from them, they used to say, “I hear banjo’s paddle faster.”

Thanks for the link, that was fun to see and waste time at work.

  • @JRyman

    Interesting reply.

These folks do exist. In our situation it felt like our size slowed down the guys we ran into. After plenty of talk, we convinced them we weren’t from the gubment… we weren’t from the tax office or the ATF. We weren’t there to confiscate their stills. So they cracked open a gallon milk jug of shine. I’ve done plenty of hard shots in my life, but that stuff blistered my throat. I’ve heard from many who live near these areas that moonshine should actually be quite smooth and tasty. That wasn’t my experience.

  • @wissoxfan83

Thanks for the link… guess I’ll be watching TruTV!

  • @drgnslayr There’s two different kinds of shine. The smooth with a kick and the hard that will make you go blind because it has ethanol in it from not being cooked right.

I’ve had some that was really good and some that was so so. My dad lives in Rogers Ark. now and he has gotten some from a friend of a friend type deal. But yeah the locals there will tell you where you can and can not go down the rivers.

I had a a momma Elk charge us in the river once, in central Nebraska on the Dismal river on a game reserve. Our saving grace was when the water got a little deeper it tripped her up, but we didn’t stick around to introduce ourselves to her and got the he!! out of there.

  • @drgnslayr When I was just out of KU I had connections in the Ozark Mountains and literally drank some shine out of a Mason Jar. Clear as water and smooth as can be it gave me an instant buzz.
