Dwight Coleby!

  • Coming out party? Block party? He shows a knack. Scored over length. Grabbed rebounds. Double-digit scoring. He simply deserves this honorable mention!

It looks to me that over the course of the season, and practicing, that not only is the knee getting stronger, but he is figuring out the system, now that he can practice. He literally was on ice with the knee injury, couldnt play, couldnt practice. 6’9 and 250lbs can make a difference. We can use all the help we can get.

And did anyone else notice that Self has been mixing in several mpg of both Lucas + Bragg in the game at the same time, showing a traditional type look. And KU outrebounded the hell out of TX, almost 2-to-1.

  • @ralster

Always thought highly of Coleby but I admit there has been points in the season where there was doubt if he would ever contribute here and if he would play basketball going forward. Coach was right he is getting some of his old self back and it’s coming at the right time. We can certainly use his positive play a few minutes here and there as Bragg continues his merry go round of contributions. Coleby is legit size and knows his role, rebound block shots and pick up the pieces around the rim. Junkyard dog.

  • Agreed. Coleby is tough and hard to move out of the box. He does have a tendency to foul, but also good rebounder and can box out. We will need him in the tournament.

  • @BeddieKU23 I’m not sure, I know brag played very little yesterday - -because of his two quick fouls, but then in the 2nd half I don’t think he played at all maybe , maybe a minute or two, but what I was going to say was they scanned the KU bench once and it showed SVI & Bragg and Braff if not both looked like they were sulking like little kids, ticked off cause they wasn’t playing. - -Well just a little FYI get your dam head in the game, play with some intensity act like you know how and want to play some defense and you WILL play. - Didn’t know if you had picked up on that or not. - Played Coleby a lot more - -which he should have. Dwight played a nice game yesterday, give us some much need help to Landen when he got in foul trouble. - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

  • If Bragg and Coleby continue to improve and play like they have in the last couple of games, KU’s perceived weakness at the bigs, while not eliminated it would be greatly abated. Definitely a positive development and that bides well moving forward.

  • When Dwight signed my 13 & Counting sign, I told him it was so good to see him on the floor and playing so well. I asked him how his knee felt and he said great for now. I told him to keep it up, that the team needed him. He smiled big time.

  • @RockChalkinTexas he was a very confident young man in the post game interviews.

  • @Crimsonorblue22 He seems to have good hands. Strong hands. Catches the ball and holds onto it. .

I did see it but I’m sure any kid on the bench is going to have moments where the expression could be taken out of context. Svi is in a slump, Bragg is well…Yeah…Basically wouldn’t read into it much

  • @BeddieKU23 ya, your probably right. - - But I do think his playing time was justified yesterday. - It’s looking better for us some, as if we can get some kind of Combination of Coleby & Bragg filling in and being able to spell Landen, contribute some for us - just adds another dimension for us - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

  • Probably unhappy w/themselves

  • No doubt it was tough for Bragg to almost not play at all after a good performance the previous game.

  • Coach said it was the first time Coleby played without his brace.

  • Self likely left Coleby in longer, due to his immediate positive impact. Bragg and those guys know that rationale. You leave in the hot hand. Plus, there probably wasnt much of a scouting report for TX available on 1 Dwight Coleby…

  • @jayballer54

Definitely we know Bragg isn’t going to give us the kind of production he did against TCU every game. This is arguably Coleby’s 3rd big game of the season (Georgia, Kentucky) and now Texas. At Ole Miss he always played well against Kentucky and Florida so I’m confident if his number gets called that he’ll be good against the better competition.

  • @ralster

Bingo, the hot hand often gets rewarded!

  • @ralster I loved seeing COleby out there!

  • He looked much more athletic yesterday, he had a good bounce and was running the floor hard. He showed good rebounding skill as well.

Nice move by Self to give him PT, Shaka got out-smarted
