A 7 is WILD because the analytics guys have us around 10
It will be interesting to see where things settle. Last year was kind of wild and KU finished in the exact same spot that they were ranked in the preseason on the analytics sites.
Biggest question is the 5 spot but this team definitely has some talent. Kohl and Paul will need to take big steps but the bench could be a bit better if that happens.

I think there is a chance Kohl starts. This is just a thought I have been having lately. He started to begin last season as well so the staff clearly sees something there, and with the way the roster is constructed it would make sense to start him or Parker to stagger the PG minutes a bit. Otherwise you kind of run into the problem KU had last season in starting their only two bigs albeit at a different position.
Kohl is starting. Kinney off the bench barring a huge offseason for him and he adjusts well.
Genuinely think we may see Dawes start at the 5, and the two bigs get 10 minutes a piece.
I'm not ready to make definitive statements yet but as the roster sits we see it pretty similarly. Ultimately Bill will play the best players and I think that could involve getting Dawes to the 5. The good thing is that rebounding theoretically wouldn't suffer too much as they have really prioritized rebounding with every meaningful addition this offseason. Even Blyden at 6' averaged 4 a game. Rebound rate for everyone is really good for their position. Parker is in the JR year CB range in terms of rebound rate.

Only two guys should feel confident they start and that’s Keanu and Tyran. Everyone else spot is up for grabs.

This is probably correct. I love Blyden so personally I will be surprised if he doesn't end up seizing it.
-
@BShark Yeah doubt Bill starts the season with this, but a Dawes at the 5 lineup of Blyden/Kinney/Kohl/Stokes/Dawes has a lot of potential and then could run one of the 7 fters as needed when there are matchups that Dawes can't handle on defense.

Mike Vernon posted this:
How cool is this?! New KU commit Atticus Richmond and Bill Self.
Richmond grew up a lifelong KU fan in Chicago. His dad, brother, cousins all went to KU. A real Jayhawk family.
This has to feel like a dream for them

Is Atticus Richmond or Grant Mordini better?
-
Well, down to one, possibly two roster sports depending on the mysterious Thengvall.
-
My guess is the last roster spot will go to a veteran, undersized, break glass in case of emergency point guard in the vein of Diggy and Ngala

I’m hoping that Bill is targeting an NBA Draft guy and has a contingency donor ready to pony up for the right guy.

Richmond by a lot. We don't need to wonder either. They went head to head in prep school and Richmond dominated. Newman where he was at is a really legit prep school.
