Those are BEVO chips Charlie. I’m shocked you made it past the Hardees on I-70…or were even on the plane for that matter. An extra week? whatta bonus.
-
What I cant figure out is what the hell happened with all the Nick Saban to Texas rumors 3yrs ago, prior to TX settling on Charlie Strong? Why didnt that happen?
Look at Strong’s stats: never truly got out of the range of .500 ball.
-
Saban isn’t leaving Bama. No point. He has them humming at unprecedented levels.
-
@BShark Im simply recollecting on the rumor mill back 3yrs ago. $10mil/yr at TX vs Saban’s current $7mil/yr at Bama.
Personally, I believe Saban and Meyer and Harbaugh, and Stoops are the class of college football, and could have ANY place humming. Some people dont like Harbaugh’s attitude, I just see him as a tough ex-QB.
Art Briles sure had Baylor humming…
-
Saban would have started all over again essentially. Must not have been worth the extra millions.
Agree with you on those coaches, all very good. Top 4.
-
@ralster pretty sure he was just leveraging that for a raise.
Saban wouldn’t leave because he would have to open recruiting channels in Texas, where right now he controls parts of Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana and Florida. And Texas just gets recruited so damn hard that UT is a lot tougher job than people think. Wouldn’t be worth actually moving there.
-
Nick Saban was 62 years old and didn’t want to start over at Texas. It was never about money because Alabama is one of tge few schools that can match Texas financially when it comes to football.
I will also say with 100% conviction that KU football would be in a much better place today had Turner Gill been given 5 years instead of 2 followed by Weis who had absolutely no plan or vision on how to make KU a good program again.
-
@Texas-Hawk-10 Yep, I’ve said that myself. TG should’ve fired the DC and strength and conditioning coach. He recruited fairly well.
-
I’ve kinda been following the Strong scenario off the long horn network. - - a lot of talk now about how a coach better know what they are walking into, with the way people on the outside of the athletic dept or actually the School the pressure that’s being applied, if that’s what a coach wants to get himself into. The president of the College wanted to retain Strong but man it sounds like a real mess down there-- - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY
