How Many Days Will It Be Before the Texas Football Coach Is Dismissed?
-
@jaybate-1.0 g. He was canned on the way to the locker room.
-
f.) he has already been fired.
-
Charlie is owed a lot of money so it’ll probably take some time to raise that money to fire Charlie which likely happens some time after Thanksgiving.
-
Strong has a $10 million buyout. Rumor was he had a 1- way ticket to Lawrence! I can’t believe Hawks beat them. Going to be sober at work tomorrow. I wore my Rock Chalk Jayhawk shirt Friday and I had to tell them it was for our basketball game and NOT football that I was wearing it for. The Houston coach was who they were all vying for earlier but after a couple of losses they cooled somewhat but think he is back in the mix now.
My guess is after the TCU game next Friday, especially if the lose that and become bowl INelligible.
-
@jaybate-1.0 C.
-
That’s what it’s come to. Lose to Kansas and you get fired?
-
@wissox well that’s because the Strong money is on Texas.
-
@wissox KU has only been responsible for 2 firings in the 7 seasons post Mangino. Strong and Hawkins at Colorado under Gill.
-
My vote is on F. Charlie knows.
-
@wissox The UT boosters would’ve donned a KU uni, and helped us win if it were possible. Anything to get to say…“Sorry, Charlie”. It’s the arrogant UT fanbase at it again. UT is a legend in their own minds…trying to get Saban to take over their program…give me a break…lol. Not saying that Charlie doesn’t deserve to get canned, because he certainly does. But the Teasippers freaking out is always a sight to behold. Beyond Darrell Royal and Mack Brown’s tenures, have they ever done a damn thing otherwise?
Speaking of having your job on the line, how does Texas tech go into Clone land, and come out losing 66-10? Kingsbury is now 4-7, and has some 'splaining to do, Lucy.
-
@KUSTEVE I saw that TT-ISU score and was shocked.
-
Because I’ve felt the let down from a big loss, I tend to sympathize with Texas, rather than delight in their struggles. I only feel glee when Missouri struggles. I miss the national contenders that Texas used to field each year. I hate that the Big 12 is on the outside looking in of the playoffs.
-
@KUSTEVE UT is all in on Tom Herman. Saban isn’t leaving Bama and UT boosters know that at this point.
-
Charlie united the entire UT fan base.
-
Big 12 may very well have 3 openings this year. UT for sure, it’s just a matter of time now. Baylor has to clean house at this point now that the bottom has fallen out there and Texas Tech needs to dump Kingsbury because his ceiling is 7-8 wins.
Say what you want about UT, but the Big 12 is a better league when UT is contending for titles. It’s fun to see power schools have a down year occasionally as a reality check, but to fall as far as UT has fallen is not good for the Big 12. Them being down has had a huge negative impact on recruiting which has played a big role in putting the Big 12 way behind the other P5 conferences contending for titles.
A contending UT is good for the Big 12 because it boosts every aspect of Big 12 football.
-
We do want Texas to be good. I think they go after and get Herman. Seems to be the popular consensus.
Also agree TTech and Baylor SHOULD be open. You can’t go forward with Grobe (very average at best) or anyone related to Briles. TTech I think is more debatable.
-
@Texas-Hawk-10 I didn’t mean in the present- it was a reference to what they had done in the past.
-
@jaybate-1.0 I cannot believe KU actually won a conference game!!! I was shocked! Heck, I thought we had shifted dimensions! I mean, did a certain lower plane of existence get a bit cooler yesterday? OMG! And, we hadnt beat Texas since the 30’s!?
We didnt beat them back in 08? Our Orange bowl season?
-
@Lulufulu Didn’t play UT in the OB season. Probably could’ve beaten them that year because I believe that was the year Colt McCoy had major concussion issues.
-
I say C after the TCU game, I think Charlie already knows but they won’t make it official till after the last game which will be Friday. - - - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY
-
Also have to say - - -DAMM proud of the guys, work every day in practice, have competed at times in multiple games this year, just haven’t been able to compete for the full 4 quarters - -we have some pieces, our defense getting better have some pretty sweet players in spots Armstrong is a stud, Wise, Lee defense gonna get better we just need to improve the offense to help our defense stay off the filed longer, don’t care how good your defense is, if your on the field 80% of the game they gonna wear down.
I think Carter doin adequate job at QB question is how will it carry into next year? - - I do feel he should probably go into next spring as him and our red shirt doing battle to see who wins the start – I’ve heard rumors that Willis may be transferring out. Cozart not an option we ARE making progress - - - ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY
-
Texas and the Ohio State have by far the bigger AD budgets and the resources to rebuilt relatively quickly. Texas has the best recruiting base of any school and with the right coach they will be back as powerhouse very soon…provided they do not screw up on their coach selection.
-
Hes out as of 2 minutes ago. lets see who our lucky winners are!
-
@kjayhawks AD said pretty strongly implied Charlie Strong won’t be fired until after the TCU game.
-
@Texas-Hawk-10 Espn bottom line just said he was fired, I guess they didn’t say when but I’ve never seen them announce and keep for a week.
-
http://www.espn.com/college-football/story/_/id/18099176/texas-longhorns-fire-charlie-strong-football-coach Says he done but said he could coach Friday? why the hell would you do that?
-
@kjayhawks Here is Texas AD’s Mike Perrin’s statement on the matter and I’ll take the word of the guy who actually makes the decision over ESPN.
“There are a number of rumors out there about the status of Coach Strong. I’ve said it all along, we will evaluate the body of work after the regular season,” Perrin’s statement reads. “We have a game to get read for against TCU on Friday, and I hope our fans will come out and support our team. We’ll discuss where things stand after that.”
While I have no doubt that Charlie Strong is done at UT, it won’t be until after the TCU game on Friday as pretty strongly implied by the man who has final say on the matter.

This article also flat out says Charlie Strong will coach Friday before stepping down after that game.
-
@Texas-Hawk-10 After reading that article that’s just flatout piss poor reporting bye ESPN, no one at texas has confirmed but its on the bottom line as breaking news.
