ok I know/hwethr he plays or not

  • Saw where we have picked up the last 7 predictions all today on Preston- - I know popular belief he will never paly college ball, but I FOR ONE would like to see him, maybe he has gotten his grades straightened out 6 ft 10 and a baller a lot says he will go over sea’s well one of them is Ryan Noel but who the hell is he right? - -just me but I hope we get him committed would help our friont line needs next year - - ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

  • KU = get em eligible U.

  • Saw that Wooten is likely an early enroll player because he’s ineligible to play HS ball this year. Could bode well for KU seems how they just happen to have an extra scholarship hanging around

Self has made Wooten a priority from what I have read. I think there is a very real chance that he visits KU and then it’s over.

Garrett/Wooten/Preston/Duval/mystery guard would be a damn fine class. Provided Preston actually makes it to campus of course.

  • @BShark

You know my stance on Preston/Duval so I see no need to keep beating a dead horse. Our top 2 recruits by ranking could possibly not even play for KU. Until evidence says otherwise we should guard ourselves from believing anything else. If they do sign, I really do hope something changes in their fortune.

  • Yeah it’s far from ideal, but when you swing and miss a few times this can be where you end up if you still want top talent. Rumour is Duval will suit up for whoever gives him the most coin. He will likely qualify, but may end up overseas anyway for the aforementioned reason.

To add, Preston much more of a qualification risk than Duval. We are talking about a kid that spent a lot of time at Prime Prep/API and in addition to the transcript issues also has poor grades in general.

  • @BShark

I agree swinging and missing has left us in this desperation mode. And desperation for guys that if they qualified would only be on campus less then a year. No long-term stability, just a quick fix for a roster that could see plenty of turnover at seasons end and the year after (Newman, Vick, Udoka). It’s a very unsettled feeling right now that I really hope turns around

  • @BeddieKU23

I do see Newman for sure being gone after next year. It can be tough to get talent but also 3+ year players. Wooten, like Garrett, would be a good get in this regard. It will be interesting to see where KU is at after the dust settles on this class.

It could be that 2018 also needs to be a big class and I can’t tell if KU is leading for anyone besides Grimes (could easily change), Dotson (would go to UNC or Duke if he could) and Oturu (lock this kid down now Bill).

On the bright side, Jacobs seems like an absolute steal to have locked down already.

  • @BShark

Definitely Wooten looks like a guy that could be good in time with some athletic/skill abilities to work with. Getting him into the program at semester’s end would be beneficial.

2018 looks up in the air right now and right now looks like a down class. Gordon would have been the ideal player to build a class around. I like Grimes and hope his interest is genuine, hope we lock him down.

Romeo Langford would obviously be a huge player to get but he doesn’t seem like the type that would end up at KU. Maybe if Jackson has a big year we become serious players for him. Kind of similar players minus Jackson being a better athlete.

2019 with Jacobs and so many already identified targets is potentially a great one down the line. Seems too good to be true right now.

  • @BShark Ya I saw off the 247 that we had another prediction for Duval - - the first couple of times I saw that I thought psssssssssssssssssst no way is he coming here, but now Who knows MAYBE we do have a shot at him, I know his whole recruitment as far as I have seen for what it’s worth anyways has been kept pretty close to the vest - -just not a lot out there, I have seen that he is surposedly the Nu 1 point guard in the class, heard different one’s say he is NBA ready right now. - – Maybe someone can fill me in a little more, would be a sweet pickup.

If we could somehow get things worked out have the one’s you mention then yet again Coach Self has done JUST FINE - - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

  • @BeddieKU23

Yep, nice 3-4 year kid (Wooten).

Grimes said awhile back that KU was the school that stood out the most to him. Mentioned that Self and other assistants had been to see him multiple times and that KU is a school he always liked. Said it to a UK reporter so that was kind of wild really. So I’d say there is definitely genuine interest but it’s recruiting and things change of course.

Langford feels like Duke/UK to me.

KU is in a great position for the 2019 class but it’s so early. Of course, KU was in a great position with Ayton so it’s hard to count the chickens before they hatch. UCLA is already making a play for Sherfield. There are rumours that Robinson is a silent commit (to KU of course). I’d love to see the staff lock up Harvey early, just get that done. Leech and Hurt will be battles, but battles KU CAN win.

    @jayballer54

Duval is definitely legit. I don’t think KU really chases him if they could have snagged Sexton or Young but with the situation the way it is, I think it’s an option that could be great for both sides.

  • @BShark

Definitely, seems like until they actually sign its hard to take what any of these kids/recruiting experts say for granted. Grimes sounds promising, some 2019 kids seem promising as well. Hopefully promising turns into results
