@BShark Saw where someone had him listed #40 or 45 in his class. What are your thoughts? Looks like a player to me. They could play Clemence and or Adams alongside him. Shaw is now probably a no bueno, too deep at the four.
-
I think this is going to be a good player for us. I think he is 3 yr at the least , seems like he has good frame , get’s after the boards , got some defending the rim in him , attacks off the dribble and loves to flush i’ll take him. - - ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY
-
So, just like Bill not going after a 4 type all offseason was indicative of Jalen returning I would read similarly into the fact that he rushed out and locked down Ejiofor for the year after. I would fully expect this season to be Jalen’s last at KU.
-
As for Ejiofor I think he is a great addition. Borderline 5* depending on how things progress. More importantly is he is good fit as the type of big Self has done well with in the past.
-
Welcome Zuby! Happy to see high ceiling, high floor talent locked down early. Go Bill Go!
-
Wow, Wilson and Clemence, Adams and now Ejiofor. And Texas doesn’t really have any talent, right? This guy is a good get. Looks like he has a motor and nose for the ball.

@BShark break this down?

Zuby so far at Peach Jam in games I could find box scores for
18/12 on 8-14 shooting
16/7/4 (blocks) on 4-11 shooting (ate at the line this game 8-9)
17/7/2 on 6-7 shooting
10/9/3 on 4-8 shooting this was the game against Bates
I think he’s a really nice player. Long, athletic. Should be able to contribute right away with defense and rebounding. Should develop offensively. I think a professional at some level, with a shot at the NBA. The one thing I wish we still had Danny for was developing bigs.
I will add, he reminds me a lot of bigs that have succeeded under Bill in the past.
-
@BShark awesome! Thanks man. Seems like a complete package. Are treys in his future?

Zuby plays today at 2pm EST.
@approxinfinity maybe in the future, not exactly a big threat atm.
-
TX is loaded, to me they are the favorites to win Big 12 next year.
-
@AsadZ Your opinion I appreciate, but Beard has to implement an entirely new system for the entire team - not this year, I give the edge to KU. We do afterall, though all might not start this season, have four starters coming back. But make no mistake, Texas will be our biggest conference competitor from here on. Baylor will find that out soon enough, as will Tech. Don’t discount Moser at OU either. I think that we had better get back to playing D, because Texas and Oklahoma are undoubtedly going to - bigtime. Question. Can the new Tech Coach coach?
-
Btw, I think that Zuby is a player, a potential “bigtime” player. He has more athleticism than Wilson, and Wilson after this coming season is going to be a pro somewhere.

With Carr in the fold, UT is definitely a top 5 team and a legit threat to win the Big 12. These two match ups with Texas have now become must see TV this season because both teams will be on the short list of national title contenders along with Gonzaga, UCLA, Michigan, and Villanova.

Nice bud - - - Dang Zuby thicker then what I thought. Looks like a College body already. – Sounds like he knows priorities , will be good to have some threat inside. - -Think he has a bright future good 3-4 year player for us.
-
I like those signing day unis. Have we ever worn those in a game?
-
He can shoot it too

-
@BShark how much do you think he actually plays?

That’s always a plus
Will be something to watch develop. He is no where close to a finished product but his upside is very exciting

The thing that sticks out to me is that he runs really well for a guy with his size and strength. He’s very similar to some of the recent big men at Baylor. Maybe not a star offensively (although he has some tools that could get him there), but he is a threat to switch out on a PnR on defense, disrupt the passing lane, recover into the lane to challenge the shot, then sprint the floor in transition for a secondary break dunk in traffic. He has the ability to do all of that right now.
Offensively, his handle is not nearly as tight as it needs to be for him to be a threat away from the basket on anything other than catch and shoot opportunities. He’s strictly a one bounce guy right now at the college level. He seems like he can improve that, but he needs some time in that aspect. But he is stronger than his body would suggest (and he’s solidly built). He just shrugs off contact. It doesn’t disrupt his ability to jump or run. That will obviously change as he encounters stronger opposition, but he’s already a load, and hasn’t even hit a college training program yet.
His shooting stroke is clean, which is important. I’m not sure how comfortable he is with that shot on a volume basis, but he can shoot it. His shooting motion isn’t broken, choppy, or excessively long. He doesn’t have the quickest release, but the mechanics are solid. A summer of work on that could make him a real stretch 4 type.
If he tightens his handle or develops a decent shot out to 20, he’s an all-conference player in two years. If he does both of those things, he could be an All-American. If he does neither, he’s still a starting caliber player in a couple of years, but will be limited to more of a role player without the ability to create on his own or stretch the floor consistently.
-
Really it comes down to this: It’s just gonna be funs for the Fieldhouse crowd to yell ZUUUBY!
-
Zuby is probably going to be the odd man out in the big man rotation next season, especially if Jalen Wilson is back. That’d likely have Zuby 5th on the big man depth chart behind Wilson, Adams, Clemence, and Udeh. It doesn’t mean Zuby doesn’t have ability, but if he’s 5th on the front court depth chart, he’s not seeing many minutes when Self tightens his rotation.
-
-
I’m sure I’m the first person to express my excitement that he’s gonna be here next season
