Royals starting pitching has been grounded after a solid start, June has not been kind.
They have played high caliber teams in past few weeks but still just sayin.
You have to compete with the best to play baseball in October.

Royals got bombed big time by Bronx bombers at the K
I like it.
I think they need to strengthen bullpen and add another outfielder/bat to catch up Cleveland.
@rockchalkjayhawk BJ Thompson, got cardiac arrest
Royals are back to doing Royals types of things.
Bullpen is a mess.
Lower batting order cannot find a hit.
@dylans The way he said it came out very insulting and demeaning for women and marginalized communities.
Thats a valid point Farmer, I was not aware.
Hope these players go through some sort of training in their rookie years, its unbelievable.
Putting such a black eye on the franchise.
@dylans Sorry I had meant Smith, LT last year who I believe is still FA.
Veatch better get on the phone and call Taylor’s agent.
I see a suspension coming
Royals are half a game behind first place Indians.
Are they legit or an aberration?
I think starting pitching is solid but hitting is mediocre, need much better production from outfielders.
Bullpen is so so, can definitely use an upgrade.
I am enjoying the ride tho, hope they can continue on the winning path.
@rockchalkjayhawk Damn, something I did not want to hear and see.
@bskeet I posted in another thread arguing that physically he is not ready to play in NBA, look at his age, weight and physical strength, he is not ready for NBA’s brutal rigor.
It is known that real money is made in 2nd/3rd contract.
He can get picked in mid to late first round, but he will most likely be warming the bench or playing in G league.
After a few months he may be traded and move around before disappearing.
His parents seem to be doing well in the sense that he does not need money right away to support them, so even without NIL he can wait to get real money and get drafted much higher and have a longer NBA career.
@BShark The question is whether to get instant gratification or have a long NBA career. Real money is made in 2nd/3rd contract.

He has great potential, with another year in college he will be much better prepared to have a solid foundation and decent NBA career.
I think he should return mainly for physical improvement and strength.
His physical strength and stamina are no way near rigorous demands of NBA, he will be bullied around.
He will look little kid a playing with Big Dawgs.
How would you grade Chiefs draft picks.
I give it B+
Great news about Reid.
I had read that Roy did not want to ruffle any feathers and deliberately did not recruit in UNC territory. It used to bother me, but I have moved on.
@approxinfinity They are getting very highly rated class, they are becoming similar to UK
Good article on Puni’s fit with Chiefs, I’d love to see him get drafted and become a Chief.
Will Smith has been a disappointment so far, cannot get outs.
Thanks for this info.
Based on what has been seen and written, which position is of greatest strength, and which one is weakest one for this team.
It is early but Royals are becoming entertaining, on a 7 game winning streak.
Damn, was not expecting this at all.
While it is early, Royals starting pitching is looking solid.
Bullpen is okay but back end needs to shore up a bit.
Hitting is work in progress.
Overall, much better than last year.
@approxinfinity This is a big anticlimax for me, seems to be a blur
To the experts:
Currently which players in the portal are on KU’s wish list.
I love Self and will not trade him for anyone else.
At the same time, we all mistakes and Self has made a few.
I’d hope Self can reflect and look in the mirror and determine what needs to change for greater overall success.
Also, is he holding his assistants accountable? I am not sure? Maybe he is, maybe he is not.
Instead of 3-4 B12 championships, I would rather win Natty and hang the banner in AFH.
Natty is the ultimate prize.
@approxinfinity He issued a statement about staying at Bama
Hurley may be lured although he has hinted on staying put a UConn.
Hats off to Hurley, like him or not, what he has done in past two years is simply outstanding.
He can recruit and coach at a very high level.
@wissox I generally root for the underdogs hence UConn women on this one.
I have great respect for what Clark has done but I also think she has been blown out of proportion by media when it comes to advocacy for women.
I think there are several other women athletes who are doing great work in this regard but don’t get the same recognition. I think I know the reason.
Mike Dana is back on a 3 year deal. Veatch has brought back almost entire DL.
@wissox Refs were inconsistent, they let them play whole game and made that call that was so close and ended up deciding outcome.
To the experts:
What’s the take on our transfer signees so far, one has to replace McCullar.
Is Self still recruiting hard in the portal.
What about our own players, any indication of KU losing players? I saw KJ is staying put.
Two blown saves already, yikessss.
Instead of 3-3 Royals are 2-4.
Ragans was electric, sorry to see him not getting W.
@BeddieKU23 I would like him to work on his skills in driving and finishing at the rim, likes of Mason, TT, and Daveonte.
@Texas-Hawk-10 I think Texans have improved most in this offseason.
They had an interest in him even last year, certainly an upgrade over Gabbert.
HCBS is an amazing coach, HOF. However, he cannot do everything by himself and has to rely on his assistants especially on scouting and game planning.
My question is whether he is getting proper support, perhaps he is perhaps he is not. I am not sure but raising a question.
Couple of his coaches are getting close to their retirement and one has to wonder if they are still running and gunning or just walking by.
After scoring 2 runs in first two games Royals had an outburst scoring 11 runs with 5 HRs.
Witt Jr had a big night.
Singer was solid, looked like an ace.
Going by tradition, assistant coaches’ responsibilities can be summarized as follows:
Recruiting
Player development
Scouting and game planning
With portal and NIL changing traditional recruiting, assistant coaches in modern day needs to excel in development and scouting more so than in past IMO.
With this in mind, I would like to ask experts here on how KU assistant coaches are doing in this regard.
In NCAA tourney, KU has proven that if team goes on to second weekend it goes deep, however, in recent years, except 2022, it has been challenging to get past by second round game. This brings a point of discussion on KUs scouting and game planning ability versus competition.
Self has openly said that they start scouting second round opponents when brackets are announced.
This brings up a point on how good of a job is being done by KUs assistant coaches. There is significant experience on the bench but are these coaches keeping up with competition.
Do KU assistant coaches need to enhance scouting and game planning. Should any changes be made here.
