It's almost a thing we do repeatedly. Last year it was Trey guarding a big boy and it hurt us but this year saw Melvin, successfully, fronting with those long arms waving while Trey locked up the big as much as he could. That happened only once that I remember. Kinney was on duty a few times and was so active he successfully disrupted it a couple of times. Teams practice for it and it's so obvious. We hung with Duke much better than Tennessee did but Ngongba proved his hype was real. Our switching defense becomes an opportunity to be exploited and really works well for teams that exhibit spacing. Self knows it's coming and is coaching against it but it killed us with a very skilled Ngongba going off. He got almost 30 points. Duke responded to our successes with their own three pointers several times. We didn't complete plays and missed several consecutive chippies by Stokes, Dawes and Kinney and we blew the game at the end just like against Louisville. Another year of stalling late and offering up a mid 70 point offense no no please.

Stokes was our offense and should have 33 - 35 points

We they need a hoop they get it we are not running any kind of set offense.

We play downhill we get better shots. The center position is going big to Duke.

Against Louisville I felt they were just a better team and it hurt to say that. This team is playing harder when Trey and Melvin are sitting.

Stokes just does not give damn in the lane.

Kinney may become a favorite Jayhawk.

Stokes is a nightmare if you go small ball guys.

Kinney has good size.

It's what they did against Tennessee

We're stuck. Kinney is lost.

Of course we do based on our comeback which stalled but it was a part of the game when we fit together for a while and it worked.

The hatchlings huddled together in the fog watching the large weird bird floating above them. Perhaps the weird one would finally tell them the secret of the three ball or perhaps not. The great weird bird did a flip and only said beak them Dukies this is our nest.

We are all saying nearly the same thing. Hoping this is not indicative of a repeat rinse repeat but hope and gloom are tied.

Duke just punked Tennessee by 40 in Cameron and watching the highlights they had a real dunk fest and got out and ran repeatedly. Nothing the Vols could do about it. We can get a measure and hope our guys can go toe to toe against the arrogance. Without Melvin and White we need to stop the air ball upchucks we showed against Louisville. This team looks to be in the mix of lower 2nd level talent and will need to overachieve to hold it to below ten losses. We are spending enough to be upper 2nd level but our new guys seemed to be behind the game flow and couldn't score repeatedly. Stokes will get beat up but we need him to stay aggressive and win more one on ones at the rim.

@DCHawker I think Stokes will keep getting stuffed unless we make our outside game more threatening than it probably will be like a continuation of the last several years. Our outside threats in these recent seasons is isolate our designated shooter in the corner and hope they can get off a shot over the athletic small forwards. We need to answer threes with threes and we are just too predictable in most possessions.

Louisville is loaded. I liked what I saw from Dawes and Blyden as experienced and hard nosed. Stokes was fine we will take it if teams want him to shoot 15 free throws a game and there will be a bunch of and ones coming. White and Council I hope they both can stay. I don't want to stifle Kinney though Self might. Mbiya was active and did okay I thought. Just an exhibition game but I don't like losing anywhere especially in Allen and Duke coming in will throw a bunch of talent at us. We got out shot by them with the 18 year old 7'2" frosh killed us outside and controlled the paint.

Tre White can scrap, handle the ball, rebound and shoot threes and free throws. Good.

4th down we were losing 17 to 7 and went for it. If a FG was successful we are behind by 7 which is a TD and extra point. One score game. Maybe by going for the first down he was trying to send a message to the team.
