Thank you Head Coach Bill Self, not for getting KU hundreds of wins on your way to 600, but for changing the lives of so many young men across literally the whole world. Jamari Traylor was once homeless living in car, Bmac was stuck in a low income house hold sleeping in the same room as all of his siblings to stay warm. Cole Aldrich’s dad was laid off and not able to support his family anymore. Joel Embiid was just a tall dude from half way around the world trying to make a name for himself to get out poverty. Just a few examples of many while Self is a great coach, Congratulations 600.

A story about Frank
I wasn’t able to watch the first half of yesterdays contest. It was my wife’s birthday so we went out for lunch. With that I listened to the pregame and most of the first half via radio. During the pregame they interviewed Zenger our athletics director. He told a story about Frank. It was last year during the first 0-12 season in KU FB history, the Hawks were being handled by KSU late in the second half. Mason was still sitting out in the freezing drizzle lonesome to support his university and stayed til the final seconds ticked off the clock. Character, not that we have questioned Frank’s, I just thought it was neat story about our PG and his loyalty.

KJ Adams
Not sure if anyone has heard but after a long battle with cancer KJ lost him mom today. Prayers for the Adams family. Not really any thing else to say other than she raised a terrific young man.

RE: Tonight's Huge Game!
With a loss tonight Scott Drew will have more losses in AFH than Bill Self.

RE: THE SKY WASN'T FALLING
In all honesty it’s a little ludicrous that we as fans (myself included at times) are giving these guys such a tough time. We just won our 20th game for the 29th season in a row (NCAA record). We are pretty much guaranteed another tournament birth for the 29th straight year (NCAA record). Even if we don’t win the conference I think we’ll be okay friends. Did I mention that Self has signed the 3rd best recruiting class and could add to it with Langford plus our transfers. Let’s all get to the field house Saturday and support the heck outta these guys. It will be a special day with the 08 team as well as game day in town.

Party like its 1938, Reviewing a KU win vs Texas
Kansas was at home for the final time this year celebrating senior day vs Texas. Texas started early scoring a TD on their play from scrimmage on a 75 pass. The defense put the clamps on after that as Senior Brandon Stewart got a pick 6 to start KU scoring. They Created 4 turnovers in the second quarter, but only lead to 10 points on the board, so KU held a 10-7 lead going into the locker room. The second half started bad as Stanley thru a pick just 3 plays in that lead to a short field and easy score for Texas to take the lead 14-10. We pretty much traded punts til the fourth quarter until a costly fumble bye Quv at mid field after a 19 yard catch that left texas again with a short field and a TD. It was was half way thru the 4th when the offense which had struggled all game and being down 21-10 finally showed up. Hiebert dived into the endzone on a 80 yard drive engineered by Stanley, then steven sims ran in a 2 point conversion to put KU back to with in 3, 21-18. The Kansas defense once again came up huge with 58 seconds left stopping Texas on a 4th and 5, and man this defense played unbelievable most of the day 6 turnovers, 4 sacks and 8 TFLs. The offense worked its magic as Stanley started the drive off with a 21 yard scrabble, aided by a Texas late hit. Matt Wyman tied the game with 7 seconds to go on a 35 yard FG. Then came overtime with Kansas winning the toss and going on defense first. A bright young freshman DB Mike Lee intercepted Texas to end their possession. With Kansas knowing they needed only 3 to win Senior RB Kinner held on to the ball and took us to the 3. A false start moved us back to the 8 but it didn’t matter nor did the attempt to ice Wyman bye the Texas staff, his kick sailed thru the up rights and WE BEAT TEXAS for the first time in 78 years. Just unbelievable guys, other than winning the orange bowl and NC in 08 idk if I have ever teared up after a game and seeing coach Beaty’s emotion after the game, it just moved me on how hard these guys are trying to win. A wise man once told me that sometimes the team that loses works a lot harder than the team that wins and I think that’s been the case for much of this year. I’m really speech less on how proud I am of these young men that flatout play their asses off every stinkin week, I love the fight they have, proud to be a KU Football fan. RCJH.

Gradey Dick coming close to history
Gradey Dick needs just 8 more 3 pointers to tie Jeff Boschee’s freshman record of 79 that he set in 1999. He currently sets 4th behind JR Giddens (74) 2004 freshman season and Ben McLemore’s (73) 2013 freshman season. It’s been pretty impressive to watch Gradey get shots knowing most teams are going to face guard him. He is much better than what I thought he’d be this season. Thought we were getting another Braun, which would be great too, just didn’t expect him to be a better shooter right outta the gates. Way to go young fella!

Hinrich, the dog
My Wife Graduated from Kansas in 2002, her favorite KU player was Kirk Hinrich. So naturally when she got a dog, she named it after Hinrich. Monday morning her beloved dog of 15 years had to be put down for health complications. I was able to met Kirks dad at a KU game with my wife in 2014 and at that time we didn’t have any kids and had told him about how much we liked Kirk. Enough so that we had a dog named after him at home, I think he got a kick out of it. I thought I’d share with everyone and give our dog one last shout out.

Ku finishes the season ranked #23 in the AP poll

The suspense!!!
Its killing me friends. I always disliked waiting as a player and coach, once I’ve seen who and where I wanna go! My wife always laughs at how hyped up I get before the games bye watching youtube highlights and how I’m all sweaty like I just played at the conclusion. Tomorrow atleast there will be games. Favorite season, Holiday season or March Madness(madness for me)? Who’s ready to get this dance started?

RE: Day 4 Tournament Game Thread
Lets all take a second to laugh at KSU and Duke. KSU because the coach they ran outta town leads a team to their first sweet 16 and duke because I hate rat face.

For those asking about scholarships

RE: DG ranked #11 on ESPN's top 25 players for next season
This list is a joke right?? Joel Berry FF MVP, back to back FFs and ACC regular season titles is at 19? wow. The Porter guy thats going to the black hole known as Fizzou is #2 and the tripping sensation Allen at #1. No Newman? Newman is my sleeper for B12 POY. Doke could easily be a lottery pick with a solid season next year as well. ESPN go home you’re drunk!!

RE: WVU 2 FTAs, KU 35 FTAs: Should the Referees Be Brought in for Questioning by the FBI that Is Reputedly Looking into other Bizarre Activities in D1, or Is KU's New Two Free Throw Defense Just that Great of an Innovation?
For people that actually know the game of basketball it’s not surprising, KU had several games early in the year here at AFH where they shot single digit Fts. Why? Simple they settled for jump shots and weren’t driving to the goal. Just like WV did tonight, according to the KC star, WV attempted just 6, yes only 6 of their 61 shots at the rim. They are lucky we didn’t shoot more with the obvious fouls Bilas pointed out that were misssed, honestly I thought KU got away with 2 fouls.

Sad news for KSU coach Snyder
Not sure if anyone has heard the news but Snyder has been in and out of the hospital. He has been diagnosised with throat cancer. Sounds like he will make a full recovery, but prayers to him and his family.

RE: Mason's Baylor Line Must Be Repeated
@Crimsonorblue22 sad truth Mason will only be in AFH 2 more games. He will go in the books as one of my all time favorites.

What a weekend in Lawrence
Big weekend for Kansas athletics as the football team won Saturday over SEMO and inducted Tailb and Collins in to the ring of honor. Then the Kansas soccer team upset the 7th ranked and defending National champs USC. The wins didnt stop there as the Kansas volleyball team continued its hot start by beating the 13th ranked Mildcats of Kentucky. ROCK CHALK my friends.

The the return of the King
I was able to catch some of Hawk Talk this evening. Enough to catch some very exciting news. Saturday at halftime of the annual tigger roast. One of my favorite players and people in the world. Thomas Robinson will have his jersey hung in the Allen Fieldhouse rafters til the end of time. Much deserved and I can’t wait to see it happen.

RE: Did you see that?
I was impressed by Doke tonight, Bamba had 10 points quick and a couple of swats of Doke. He just kept grinding and got his, I said before the season started there was no reason Doke couldn’t be a 12 and 12 guy every night. He’s making that a true statement at this point, averaging 18.5 and 10.5 in his last 4 games. What poise by a guy that’s hardly a sophomore tonight that’s forsure.

RE: Texas Longhorns - Friday - 8 pm - ESPN2
@JayHawkFanToo Yes he had 8 blocks, 3 of which were goal tends. That’s the plus and minus of being able to rewind live TV in this day and age. The one they missed on Svi’s layup was ridiculous and I thought it could’ve been a huge play if they’d of hit the 3 on the other end with us up 6 at that point.

Banner Year!
Obviously it didn’t end the way we wanted too, but only one team leaves truely happy after it’s all said and done. I’m so proud of these young men, they were doubted all year and played their asses off. I hope all of Jayhawk Nation can see what this team has accomplished and does nothing but show them the love they deserve. We got a few more banners to hang and some more trophies to add to our case, with a team that like doesn’t have a first draft pick. I’m damn proud to be a Jayhawk, Rock Chalk Jayhawk!

RE: Pistols Out of Ammo Game Thread
@approxinfinity my disgust with Fran went down considerably after he said that Love for KSU showed more effort in that brawl than his previous 3 years in Methattan.

RE: UNC Game Thread
Fun fact of today- Mayo has made 27% of the 3 pointers Nick Timberlake hit all season last year…… in 2 games

RE: Football chat anyone? On the road at Cincinnati to finish the season
That’s a nice way to end a season friends. We have been playing football for over 130 years, this is just the 15th 8 plus win season in program history. Great team win, Bean and Neal were on tonight making it a lot of fun to watch. Let’s make this a special year and go get a bowl win!!! RCJH

RE: Hell ya, what a day
Huge win in terms of KU making the NCAAs, we were 58th in RPI prior to the victory over #6 RPI TCU, so im sure we will jump up. I think if we can win 2 or 3 games we are in for sure but lets just win the whole darn thing!!

RE: Frank Mason vs Lebron 12/6/17

Big weekend in college hoops
The biggest game is of coarse KU vs Stanford because I say so haha. But seriously here are some of the games going on besides ours Saturday. UCLA vs UK, I’ve read some good things about UCLA recently and UK is UK we will find out a lot about both clubs in this at Rupp, 11:30 CBS. Baylor home vs Xavier, Both good teams I think the B12 needs this one for sure but I give props to Drew they have a great SOS, 2:30 ESPN 2. Gonzaga vs Arizona, I’ll root for zaga, one of my best friends and fellow Jayhawk lives in Phoenix and tells me the zona fans think they have better program, funny I know, 4:30 ESPN. WVU at Virginia, another big one for the B12 and I bet a low scoring affair, 1:00 ESPN U. Anyway just some games if anyone is a CBB nut like me.

RE: Happy Dad's day
Ya it’s been crazy hot for the middle June here in central Kansas, already 4 100+ degree days and 2 weeks straight of 95 or better. @Crimsonorblue22 thank you, it’s been a crazy weekend. It’s fathers today and both me and my sons birthday as well. Makes for a crazy weekend but mostly good lol.

MLK Day
Happy Martin Luther King Jr. Day to the buckets crowd! Dr King was a great man and stood for a great cause people can still learn a ton from him about fighting for the cause. “Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.” “Life’s most persistent and urgent question is, 'What are you doing for others?“ two of my favorite quotes from him.

Are our colors starting to return?
The United States of America has been all but united the past few years. Years prior to that I’d say our colors were red, white and blue. A few weeks ago our colors were white, black and yellow. They were those colors because of hate. We’ve seen many riots for various reasons, that have lead to cities being burned to the ground, police officers murdered and people ran over with cars. On the news the last week or so since hurricane Harvey hit I’ve seen hope. Hope, that maybe the world that I brought my son in to may just make it after all. People of all different shapes, sizes, races and religions helping each other out in their time of need, not worried about who they voted for last November. We must learn to move forward from this in several ways, let’s not go back to hating. Let’s go back to being United… all the time.
