@HighEliteMajor I don’t know… Sorta sounds like Pontious Pilate asking for a second towel to dry his hands with,

RE: Dotson article from Newell
@Crimsonorblue22 It’s definitely on the “awful” side of the ledger.

RE: Dotson article from Newell
I thought Eli’s ghost took over Dotson as the game slipped away.

RE: Wisemen leaves Memphis to Concentrate on NBA Draft
@HighEliteMajor HEM, I know I wouldn’t win many/any debates with you and i tend to agree with you 90% of the time anyways. I get that the NCAA was founded " in 1906 to protect young people from the dangerous and exploitive athletics practices of the time”. wiki
Who protects the those students from the NCAA? I believe the NCAA has far surpassed any other entity when it comes to the exploitation of student athletes. That sounds more like a slogan than being factual but either way, with players who can transfer at any time, there is bound to be a readjustment period and having some structure in place will be better than nothing.
I completely understand Wisemen’s decision but I’m glad it wasn’t a player from KU.
I was being kind of a dick because of how we lost to Nova. And I apologize.
-
RE: Test time - -KU?/ Villanova do we pass ?
@FarmerJayhawk Wow! I find that almost impossible. I’m more than a little surprised.
TY @FarmerJayhawk.
-
RE: Test time - -KU?/ Villanova do we pass ?
@Crimsonorblue22 How many BIG 12 schools has Dok played against? Without checking, I would guess very few. He hasn’t made it to conference play yet.
-
RE: 2020 Transfer List
@BShark The overall trend will be like permanent free-agency. Why stick around 4 years when you can shop around for a better program or at least one that you might think is a better situation.
Loyalty will no longer be rewarded. In fact, loyalty will be the wrong way to advance or achieve the goals you had in your list.
-
RE: Test time - -KU?/ Villanova do we pass ?
Losing Jalen Wilson so early has cost the Jayhawks. I think he would be a major difference maker but why stick around another year? Do the skills test and see where you line-up. The more information, the better.
I’ll be very interested in what transpires after the season. A massive amount of transfers or maybe the difference won’t be nearly as big as I expect.
I’d like to think this team can win it all but the way they lost today is very much like the way they usually lose.
Wright > Self Villanova > KU

RE: Wisemen leaves Memphis to Concentrate on NBA Draft
@Marco I believe all of our problems are fixable - all the pieces are there but assembly required.
-
RE: EMPEROR OF BASKETBALL
He certainly has Self’s number. we were #1 for an entire week. Sometimes I swear that every Bill Self team is the same team w/one notable difference. In 2008, I thought we would have won at least one more by now.
J Wright > KU, Bill Self. Wright comes into KU and leaves with what seemed to be a sure get, Jeremiah Robinson-Earl. Losing to Nova sucks but they have pushed themselves to a better program.
It seems every year we miss needed FTs, 3-pointers, too many turnovers, not enough scorers, poor clock management, and generally bad basketball. Today’s game was just more of the same.

And by the way, we’ve had these NCAA discussions before. I’ve laid out facts and (respectfully) destroyed the other arguments offered here repeatedly.
I think this is called Delusions of Grandeur and it’s not very respectful This is just sad…
HEM: They fail to recognize the unavoidable problems with massive enforcement (similar to regular law enforcement – you can’t catch everyone).
So what? The NCAA is a behemoth. If there isn’t a way for the NCAA to treat all its members equal then find a new, fairer, organization. Wiseman received a 12 game suspension for the same reason Silvio sat for two years.
HEM: Folks don’t want the colleges to make and enforce their own rules. ANY empirical evidence or is this a made-up stat. College sports would wither and die without the NCAA - or at least HEM thinks so.
The NCAA doesn’t even crown the FBS schools as NCAA champs. It seems to be doing just fine. WHY? The NCAA isn’t needed. Just because the NCAA has become the jury, prosecutor and judge doesn’t mean we can’t put a better system in place.
HEM: Folks don’t like the NCAA rules.
Genius! Right up there with the obvious/not obvious comments but maybe if the rulings weren’t so arbitrary and unfairly punish some while others skate.
HEM: The irony is that the whiner’s position…
More of that respect you bragged about and you do so well.
HEM: They fail to recognize that the colleges are “owners”. They own the product, the contracts, the arenas/facilities, the logos, and everything else. But that doesn’t matter. They whine about enforcement when rules are clearly broken. They fail to recognize without rules there is chaos. They say they want a better system but don’t have one to offer. They fail to realize that a path away from the NCAA model is a path to professional basketball. They fail to realize that without the NCAA making billions other sports will go away – scholarships for thousands of athletes from rowing to golf to volleyball to track. Sports that can’t support themselves (and literally every females sport).
on this wants to destroy the NCAA for the benefit of a very select few men’s CB and FB players to detriment of the massive numbers of other athletes. Ironic. Isn’t the scholarship and the education of the massive numbers of athletes in all sports the goal here? Educational welfare funded by men’s CB and FB. And there are complaints based on the elite athletes not getting more?
It’s a joke.
It’s ironic because those that push this position, motivated by support for the poor black athlete, in turn will harm multiple more poor black athletes. Sound familiar? I mean, that’s leftist politics. They want so badly to help that their solutions cause more harm than good and create cyclical harm. But we know that. Look at our cesspool inner cities run by conservatives – uh, no, run by leftists. Almost exclusively by leftists. Our idiot mayor in KC spent 8 years blaming inanimate objects for the continued violence and not the people that commit the crimes. Nothing changed. But that’s a leftist. That’s evidence. We’ve had this debate before and it always leads down the same path. And I always win.
Now THAT’s some good whining. So disagree and you’re a cold-hearted whiner and with a bit of leftwing progressive leanings while also being a racist. TFF
HEM: We’ve had this debate before and it always leads down the same path. And I always win.
HEM: Also, just declaring victory yourself doesn’t make it true…
CLASSIC! I agree with you wholeheartedly. It’s funny how you prove yourself wrong in the very next statement.
Pathetic. Get over yourself HEM. Wake-up and get a grip. Time to pretend you’re not a twit.

RE: Wisemen leaves Memphis to Concentrate on NBA Draft
@HighEliteMajor HEM, I’ve always respected you and this goes back to LJW where you and Jaybate held court. I don’t remember you being so judgmental as you obviously have become.
HEM: “You obviously would prefer no rules because this is pretty obvious.”
Wow! You obviously don’t do well with logic because this is pretty obvious." LMAO… I guess its obvious that you have obviously spent a lot of obvious work and thought because this is pretty OBVIOUS.
Wiseman can go anywhere he wants, he isn’t breaking any rules.
You OBVIOUSLY don’t know jack shit about me.

RE: Villanova Wildcats - Saturday - 11 am - Fox
@Kcmatt7 LeBron would have been a top 5 player in ANY time period playing basketball. They changed rules because of Wilt’s dominance.
-
RE: Villanova Wildcats - Saturday - 11 am - Fox
@KirkIsMyHinrich 2003! If we had just made 50 percent of our FTs and we would have won.
-
RE: Wisemen leaves Memphis to Concentrate on NBA Draft
@HighEliteMajor Really HEM? I disagree. I see this as just another case of a kid getting raked by the NCAA.
I remember Melvin Bratton’s career path after the injury to his knee injury in his final college game at the Orange Bowl. This is just the start.
-
RE: Villanova Wildcats - Saturday - 11 am - Fox
@kjayhawks The loss to VCU was one of the toughest losses, especially as one of my sisters works at VCU.
Then the loss to Arizona in 97.
-
RE: Villanova Wildcats - Saturday - 11 am - Fox
@HighEliteMajor Ouch! Stop w/the biting sarcasm.
-
RE: Villanova Wildcats - Saturday - 11 am - Fox
I don’t agree. Jay is 4-3 against Self and I bet we’re even after Saturday.
BUT Jay seems to win the most important games against KU.

RE: Guys I'm saying IF things happened - -Danny Manning ?
@approxinfinity Embiid is in the NBA.
-
RE: Guys I'm saying IF things happened - -Danny Manning ?
@dylans We’ve had plenty of post players since Manning. Few at his level but very close. Raef LaFrentz, Scot Pollard, Paul Pierce, Drew Gooding, Wayne Simien, Nick Collison, and that’s only a partial list under Coach Roy.
Maybe not as good as Manning but more than just good
-
RE: Guys I'm saying IF things happened - -Danny Manning ?
KNOCK on wood!! Dok gets more than his share of injuries. I hope he makes it all year. McCormick is big and talented and maybe the better of the two. I believe Silvio has the highest upside IF he can find his game. Starting to see just that.
Best for us if Manning comes back (don’t think it will ever happen) but I cannot see him coming back to KU. Pride is hard to overcome but Manning would shine building a mid-major team and I think that is more likely.
-
RE: Guys I'm saying IF things happened - -Danny Manning ?
@Woodrow Kind of an easy question:
He has been a head coach since 1998.
In 2 years he turned Jacksonville into a winning program.
He got Witchata into the Sweet 16:
He completely turned the Texas A&M program around w/4 straight NCAA appearances.
He has had sustained a winning program in the BIG10 but it has been a mixed bag at Maryland. 190-93 overall but no deep NCAA runs. That would be his downside throughout his career that has 430 wins and 252 losses.
Never said he was my first choice but he will be taken under consideration and being an alum does matter.
Couch Bennet would be my first choice but he might say no. KU isn’t promised anything. We’ve had a remarkable run w/head coaches but maybe the next one is abysmal and sets the program on a downward side. Turg would win at Kansas.
*I didn’t read the post thoroughly before replying and that wasn’t too smart. The reason I said Turg was that he has won everywhere he has coached. No one would be better at coaching bigs but that would be a big step down for Manning.
-
RE: Guys I'm saying IF things happened - -Danny Manning ?
@jayballer73 Reading is fundamental. Manning would be both a valuable asset in bringing along talent AND would be a great recruiting asset as well.
-
RE: Villanova Wildcats - Saturday - 11 am - Fox
@stoptheflop I wish Jeremiah Robinson-Earl had picked KU. I hate seeing us lose in-state talent.
-
RE: Ok , I realize I'm probably in the minority
@jayballer73 I’ve asked enough dumb things and this may be near the top but doesn’t CBS use the ap poll? I also thought that the coach’s poll and ESPN’s were the same.
And let’s be real. What does being ranked #1 mean before conference play even mean? I like to see us at #1 and it is a sign of recognition for KU’s early success but don’t get too excited.
PS: There are bad/dumb questions. Ask anyone who ever taught middle school.
-
RE: Guys I'm saying IF things happened - -Danny Manning ?
@jayballer73 I don’t think so. Just isn’t ready…if ever. I know he won’t be the popular choice but he has more than proved himself.

@jayballer73 Nino was coaching/training kids in Atlanta. I had to look him up to see if he was the same Nino…and he was.

@BeddieKU23 Good for him. His leaving was good for both sides and I hope he does well.

@mayjay No more "Old Jayhawk Bourbon’’ but you can find some old empty bottles online.

RE: Offense Coming Around....
@kjayhawks Maybe since Coach Bennett arrived in 2014 but not before unless you jump back to the 1920s.
-
RE: Jayhawks contend progress was made in Les Miles' 1st year in charge
Not sure if we were better by any measurable means…
-
RE: Other Big-12 action
@BShark There was this game back in 06, March 17th to be exact, that Bradley beat KU in the 1st round of the NCAA.
…but KState still SUCKS.
-
RE: Offense Coming Around....
@Marco I think Scott Pollard was/is KU’s best man for Dennis Rodman comparisons.
-
RE: Silvio De Diallo
@BShark Self has proven that he is a great game coach so I rarely question his decisions or his ability to make in-game adjustments but as a player knowing you will be yanked the moment you make a mistake doesn’t help.
I also think Triston should get more minutes. He can play at least three positions and is frankly better than those who play ahead of him. I’m a huge Garrett fan but his inability to play without so many fouls and lack of offense is becoming a liability.
-
RE: Silvio De Diallo
@drgnslayr I didn’t know he was on the court until he committed a silly foul and was yanked. He played less than one minute against Dayton.
-
RE: Silvio De Diallo
I don’t get it. Silvio has waited a long time and it’s one mistake and yanked. I don’t think he deserves time because he waited for eligibility but give him the time that Braun is getting. Let him work through an error or two before being yanked.
-
RE: Other Big-12 action
It seems to me that Self is being much more patient with Braun than just about any player I remember. I remember Russel Rob getting more than a few quick yanks in his first season. Some cannot deal w/that type of pressure.
-
RE: Dayton Game Thread
He’s pissed because of Duke’s loss to SFA at HOME and broke a streak going back 20 years or so…
-
RE: University of Dayton Flyers - Friday - 1 to 1:30ish - ESPN
Had the chance to hang out at Dayton way back in the 80’s and it’s a beautiful campus. It isn’t KU but I was taken completely by surprise.
-
RE: Duke and Stephan F Austin - - crazy
Sub 200 on Kenpom. Duke is definitely overrated. We should have killed them.
Thank you. I thought this was more of a ‘bad’ loss than any other way of looking at it. Neither team deserved a win but we deserved to lose.
-
RE: 2020 Recruiting
@BeddieKU23 I believe those numbers reflect the ups and downs in the normal recruiting cycle more than anything.
Also, the Big 12 is smaller now than the other Big 5 power conferences and I no longer remember enough statistics to analyze the numbers properly.
And maybe HCBS has decided that the best way to get another NCAA title is with experienced players who have learned to play Billy-Ball and w/a couple of top 25 players (OADs) thrown in.
OR, I have no idea…

@RockChalkinTexas I’m a '77 grad from LHS. My dad went to the CGSC at Fort Leavenworth. Was lucky to be able to go all 3 years there and when my dad got orders to VA, I stayed behind to matriculate my way through KU.

RE: ETSU Game Thread
@BShark I would be happy if we shot over 70% from the line for the year.
