BUT Jay seems to win the most important games against KU.

    • RE: 2020 Hoops Targets

Fairly certain that we will not be getting any big-time recruits until after the NCAA comes out with its sections/penalties.

We had already become the third or fourth option after Kentucky, Duke, and North Carolina. It seems most recruits wait on seeing where the other top freshman are going and when these four schools have used up scholarships or needs. And now that we are facing an uncertain future, recruiting will become just that more difficult.

Watching KU’s name being drug through the mud has left me feeling like I felt when I found out there was no Santa Claus.

Is Bill Self a cheat? I don’t know why you need to bribe players to come to Kansas especially because Coach Self does so well with second-tier players. UConn and Villanova have won championships with these type of players mixed in with a few top players.

@BeddieKU23 I believe those numbers reflect the ups and downs in the normal recruiting cycle more than anything.

Also, the Big 12 is smaller now than the other Big 5 power conferences and I no longer remember enough statistics to analyze the numbers properly.

And maybe HCBS has decided that the best way to get another NCAA title is with experienced players who have learned to play Billy-Ball and w/a couple of top 25 players (OADs) thrown in.

      OR, I have no idea…

Meanwhile, North Carolina landed a commitment from five-star center Walker Kessler on Sunday night.

NCAA: No Academic Violations at UNC Ruling comes despite university’s finding that many athletes were for years enrolled in and passed courses they did not attend and that were not taught by anyone.

I don’t buy into the “everyone else is doing it” excuse either but doesn’t it seem that the NCAA has always had double standards? Some schools seem immune to NCAA violations.

      HighEliteMajor said:

And by the way, we’ve had these NCAA discussions before. I’ve laid out facts and (respectfully) destroyed the other arguments offered here repeatedly.

I think this is called Delusions of Grandeur and it’s not very respectful This is just sad…

HEM: They fail to recognize the unavoidable problems with massive enforcement (similar to regular law enforcement – you can’t catch everyone).

So what? The NCAA is a behemoth. If there isn’t a way for the NCAA to treat all its members equal then find a new, fairer, organization. Wiseman received a 12 game suspension for the same reason Silvio sat for two years.

HEM: Folks don’t want the colleges to make and enforce their own rules. ANY empirical evidence or is this a made-up stat. College sports would wither and die without the NCAA - or at least HEM thinks so.

The NCAA doesn’t even crown the FBS schools as NCAA champs. It seems to be doing just fine. WHY? The NCAA isn’t needed. Just because the NCAA has become the jury, prosecutor and judge doesn’t mean we can’t put a better system in place.

HEM: Folks don’t like the NCAA rules.

Genius! Right up there with the obvious/not obvious comments but maybe if the rulings weren’t so arbitrary and unfairly punish some while others skate.

HEM: The irony is that the whiner’s position…

More of that respect you bragged about and you do so well.

HEM: They fail to recognize that the colleges are “owners”. They own the product, the contracts, the arenas/facilities, the logos, and everything else. But that doesn’t matter. They whine about enforcement when rules are clearly broken. They fail to recognize without rules there is chaos. They say they want a better system but don’t have one to offer. They fail to realize that a path away from the NCAA model is a path to professional basketball. They fail to realize that without the NCAA making billions other sports will go away – scholarships for thousands of athletes from rowing to golf to volleyball to track. Sports that can’t support themselves (and literally every females sport).

on this wants to destroy the NCAA for the benefit of a very select few men’s CB and FB players to detriment of the massive numbers of other athletes. Ironic. Isn’t the scholarship and the education of the massive numbers of athletes in all sports the goal here? Educational welfare funded by men’s CB and FB. And there are complaints based on the elite athletes not getting more?

      It’s a joke.

It’s ironic because those that push this position, motivated by support for the poor black athlete, in turn will harm multiple more poor black athletes. Sound familiar? I mean, that’s leftist politics. They want so badly to help that their solutions cause more harm than good and create cyclical harm. But we know that. Look at our cesspool inner cities run by conservatives – uh, no, run by leftists. Almost exclusively by leftists. Our idiot mayor in KC spent 8 years blaming inanimate objects for the continued violence and not the people that commit the crimes. Nothing changed. But that’s a leftist. That’s evidence. We’ve had this debate before and it always leads down the same path. And I always win.

Now THAT’s some good whining. So disagree and you’re a cold-hearted whiner and with a bit of leftwing progressive leanings while also being a racist. TFF

HEM: We’ve had this debate before and it always leads down the same path. And I always win.

HEM: Also, just declaring victory yourself doesn’t make it true…

CLASSIC! I agree with you wholeheartedly. It’s funny how you prove yourself wrong in the very next statement.

Pathetic. Get over yourself HEM. Wake-up and get a grip. Time to pretend you’re not a twit.

That’s about all they need from McCoy. He’s a legit threat to run and that’s all they need to freeze the LBs with play action. Damien Williams should be back in the near future.

Everyone knew replacing Kareem Hunt was not going to be easy. Chiefs HAD 5 RBs when the season began. A very solid run by committee was decimated (current definition).

From June 6: When freshman Issac McBride endured his first workout as a member of the University of Kansas basketball program earlier this week, the newcomer from Little Rock, Ark., immediately recognized he had reached a completely different level of competition.

This was faster. More intense. Higher expectations.

Still, the 6-foot, 180-pound guard didn’t let it all overwhelm him. Although he agreed with fellow freshman Tristan Enaruna that the experience was “eye-opening,”

@jayballer73 The longer KU fights theses charges and I’m not saying the shouldn’t, recruiting is going to be challenging.

In a move that puts California on a collision course with the NCAA, Gov. Gavin Newsom has signed a bill effectively allowing college athletes in the state to earn compensation for the use of their likeness, sign endorsement deals and hire agents to represent them.

This has to scare the NCAA. They may want to tread more carefully as at least 20 other states are considering similar laws.

Edit: N. Carolina is in line considered next in line followed by Washington and S. Carolina.

A really bad finish to a really bad weekend. The Saints were the only team I wanted to see win in the wild card round and the disaster at AFH was gut wrenching.

If I had to give the single most fault w/KU, I would have to say it is lacking a quality PG. Tharpe just doesn’t get it and as much as I like Mason, we need a 6’3 - 6’5 athletic guard who can get the ball out in transition.

Wiggins and Selden are left too often trying to make something happen and neither are capable. I really wish Self could have sped up the developed AW3 and Greene. These are the 3-4 year players we have had so much success with in the past but hard to develop players off the bench.

Sweet-16 at best. I could even see us missing the NCAA but doubt that will happen. Coach - please recruit a top tier PG for next year.
