Years of following other KU sites emphasizing the negative of the team, publicizing the off court scandals, overlooking improvement, glad for this site. Not a KSU supporter in a shape, but when listening to their broadcasts no matter what is happening they seem to promote the positive constantly, alm ost to an annoying point. I don’t enjoying watching/ listening to critical dialogue from Gurley or Piper. National announcers do that all too often. RCJHKS!

@wissox said: Doke goes 5-5 from FT line in final minute of NC Game.
**Imediately following the trophy presentation Jim Nantz asked Doke why he had become so successful at the free throw line.
Doke said "Earlier this year l was really struggling. I was really depressed. Asked coach for help and he said it was too late to change. I was almost ready to pack up and head back home when l ran across kubuckets.com on the internet. They offered excellent advice on the art of free throw shooting. I could tell they cared about me. Every night in bed I would go to buckets and read up on their comments and suggestions. They became my family. It was like they were talking right to me and finally I could understand someone; well you know some of them l couldn’t understand and they carried on forever. But those threads helped to put me to sleep.
Without their help I would still be sent to stand in the corner late in the game. How depressing, I felt like I was in ‘timeout’.
I’m going to ask coach if a few of my kubuckets.com brothers can be in the parade down Massachusetts and l want to ride with them.**

RE: Dok's back...
@mayjay I think it may have stemmed from the early game warning of being out of the coaching box. With all our technology why do we waste time on warnings and finally technicals on leaving the coaches area. Just put an ankle bracelet on that zaps them when they violate. It would be a mild one on sidelines violation and major zap (similar to tasers) when coming on the court.

RE: That's a tough team
In the second half Vick got called for a foul comitted by two WVU players on the guy Vick was chasing. Evidently the ref couldn’t decide which WVU player to call it on and made the politically correct decision to call it on Vick. LaGerald looked away smiling.

Lady Jayhawks Remain Undefeated
Team is now 5-0. Almost everybody is healthy. Lots of competitive bodies at every positon. HC has changed the starting lineup several times. Players struggling in the games are going to the bench. Coach has this team heading in the right direction.

Are We Honking For The Right Reasons?
Lessons from Geese ‘Individual empowerment results from quality honking’
Lessons from Geese provides a perfect example of the importance of team work and how it can have a profound and powerful effect on any form of personal or business endeavour. When we use these five principles in our personal and business life it will help us to foster and encourage a level of passion and energy in ourselves, as well as those who are our friends, associates or team members.
It is essential to remember that teamwork happens inside and outside of business life when it is continually nurtured and encouraged.
Lesson 1 - The Importance of Achieving Goals
As each goose flaps its wings it creates an UPLIFT for the birds that follow. By flying in a ‘V’ formation the whole flock adds 71 percent extra to the flying range.
Outcome
When we have a sense of community and focus, we create trust and can help each other to achieve our goals.
Lesson 2 - The Importance of Team Work
When a goose falls out of formation it suddenly feels the drag and resistance of flying alone. It quickly moves back to take advantage of the lifting power of the birds in front.
Outcome
If we had as much sense as geese we would stay in formation with those headed where we want to go. We are willing to accept their help and give our help to others.
Lesson 3 - The Importance of Sharing
When a goose tires of flying up front it drops back into formation and another goose flies to the point position.
Outcome
It pays to take turns doing the hard tasks. We should respect and protect each other’s unique arrangement of skills, capabilities, talents and resources.
Lesson 4 - The Importance of Empathy and Understanding
When a goose gets sick, two geese drop out of formation and follow it down to the ground to help and protect it.
Outcome
If we have as much sense as geese we will stand by each other in difficult times, as well as when we are strong.
Lesson 5 - The Importance of Encouragement
Geese flying in formation ‘HONK’ to encourage those up front to keep up with their speed.
Outcome
We need to make sure our honking is encouraging. In groups and teams where there is encouragement, production is much greater. ‘Individual empowerment results from quality honking’
The original version of Lessons from Geese was written by Dr Robert McNeish in 1972

Lady Jayhawks
Yesterday KU women got their first league victory of the young conference season by downing TCU 86-77 in Allen Fieldhouse. That pushed their season record to 10-3 including 2 overtime loses on the road. Considering they lost their starting point guard and leading scorer Jessica Washington to a year ending injury before the season started success is even more convincing Schneider has them heading in the right direction.

RE: Is Self Cleared to Coach Against TCU?
@JayHawkFanToo Awesome stat and that is a reflection on Bill. How much credit does he deserve?Don’t know. Are Bill’s numbers higher than any KU coach? Don’t know that either. What I do know is for over 50 years I have never seen any team fight for victories harder than the Kansas Jayhawks!

RE: Breaking News: Bruce Weber Loves KU, Gifts Win
@JayHawkFanToo I agree totally with you about Weber as a coach. I hope he stays coaching the kitties until he is as old as Snyder.
If he stays that long maybe they will rename their homecourt “Squeaky’s Octagon of Dumb”.

RE: UCLA record goes down
To break the record without breaking rules is awesome. Even coach said several years ago ‘if you don’t come close to breaking some rules you aren’t doing your job.’ This accomplishment isn’t as great as how it was achieved. Young men played hard, went to class and were strong examples of what college athletics was all about. Was there a few bumps in the road-- yes. They took their lumps. apologized and became better people because of the incidents. Sometimes trying to do it the right way has it’s rewards.

Loyola of Chicago is now in. Great story. 1st bid since 1985. Their chaplain is a 98 year old nun who prays before the game and throws in a scouting report into her prayer. I.E “We pray we’ll have success boxing out #42 who grabs 5 offensive rebounds every game”. After games she emails the coach and players what they did well and what they need to improve upon.
Surely that is against some NCAA rules. Is she payed? Are they over the limits on assistant coaches? Maybe Yahoo will break the story.

I wouldn’t say dg has had bad games, he just hasn’t scored like he’s capable of doing. But, more importantly, the rest of the guards have stepped up. Feed the hot hands, hopefully dg will add a few too.
I’ve felt for several years he only cared about winning. l think he could have been a better all round player but he was letting Frank do his thing last year.
He knows who the MVP is on this team, who is the motor, who is the leader. He’ll do what it takes for team success.

RE: My Response to Pat Forde's Article: Either Bill Self is an Idiot or Clean. You can't Have Both.
Do all high school graduates have to go to college? No.
Then explain to me why it is legal to force our youngsters to go to college for one year or sit out and twiddle their thumbs for one year before pursuing their dream of professional basketball.
Then explain to me how it is legal to have different eligibility requirements for different sports.

Mind off the Game
This actually took place last month–
I never really had a Jeff Foxworthy moment “You might be a redneck if”, but today l had a “You might be an old geezer” experience. I needed to get lab done at a place l had never been before and l happened to know the receptionist. She was fantastic at taking my card and explaining what l needed to do. She then handed me two forms that needed to be filled out. The first one was very simple, the privacy act one. She saw that l was struggling to see what the blanks were and told me print your name, sign it and date it. As l finished filling it out l saw the second form had lots of questions and l told her l had better go get my glasses from the car. She chuckled as l hurried off to get them. When l came back and began looking over the questions l was REALLY glad l had gotten my glasses and didn’t require her help to fill in the blanks. I had never been asked some of these questions before and l’m not completely sure l answered them correctly. Question one: Sex at birth. What? Another question: Sexual preference. OMG! One of the boxes for that one was: Don’t want to reveal. l thought about checking that but figured that might put me on some watch list. I don’t want to mention some of the other questions, but the receptionist knew l was caught off guard. She had one of those sighs “l know”. Transgender questions l could only guess at because of Bruce-Caitlyn coverage on tv. Before l get caught off guard again filling out a questionaire l’m going to Goggle “Correct application answers for Old Geezers”.

RE: Oh happy day
@Jayballer54 I was looking for a thread to offer advice or at least express an opinion and find out about expensive Christmas presents and the Hokey Pokey Ballad. Still going to make an observation here… In the last week we had a couple of great wins and we are setting alone at the top of the league for an incredible streak. It should be an Oh, happy day. Then I see other threads on what will happen next week when we shoud be discussing tomorrow’s game or nothing at all. Another post is about can’t hardly wait til next year because of the great recruits.
I’m not concerned about OU (today) and I guarantee Bill is not making it an issue of that game. I am happy recruiting is going well but for now I’m just enjoying the moment thanks to coach and our boys.
Oh, happy day.

Michigan State’s Cassius Winston on BTN talking about the team having some freed up time because the conference tourney was a week earlier. He mentions that “Since the Big Ten tourney, Michigan State Basketball scrimmaged, saw “Hamilton” in Chicago & took in a Chicago Bulls game.”
Now if you live under a rock. Hamilton tickets are through the roof expensive. 222 for a showing today on stubhub. College student athletes presumably do not have spare cash sitting around for hot ticket broadway shows and professional sporting events. I suppose there’s a legit answer for it, but…
MSU, coming off of a scandal plagued season if there ever was one flaunts its privilege by somehow attending Hamilton together? And the BTN brags about it on their network? This crap makes me sick.
Aren’t you confused; attending ‘Hamilton’ was some sort of discipline/punishment for improper behaviour?

RE: Thoughts on the Hawks
@kjayhawks I wish more people would look at what we have rather than what could have been. If Preston had a season ending injury before the first game wouldn’t most be satisfied with the record we have today?
Coaches are better, players are bigger, stronger, more athletic than even ten years ago. The playing field has leveled; look at what happened yesterday in the top 25.
All I expect of players is give 100%, listen to your coaches and be thankful you are a Jayhawk!

RE: My very favorite Jayhawk died today. Jo Jo White
@jaybate-1.0 Every time they come up with KU’s best teams and players Jo Jo is barely mentioned and sometimes not at all. I realize he played at Kansas long before some fans were even born. If you are putting together an all time best KU team with 2 guards write down Jo Jo and then clamour over the second.

Is There Ever A Good Loss?
Some coaches emphasize there are good losses. I don’t call last night a good loss, l call it a BLESSING! We all knew that evetually free throws would be an issue. What if this didn’t happen til a round in the big dance? We lose and are done for another year!
I imagine that strategy is all ready in place for this in the future because the scenerio will probably come up multiple times.
This can happen whether we are leading or trailing. We’re ahead late, they foul and get the ball back and milk the clock. We’re behind they do the same thing, foul and we never get another SHOT. With that strategy anybody can foul— it doesn’t have to be a walk on.
Bill will figure it out. Glad it’s over and will never be an issue again!
