Unfortunately this game gives us a lot of negative takeaways and only 1 positive.
The positive: Melvin Council is the real deal. He is a stud who can hit big shots, play defense, and get to the rim at will.
The negatives:
DP will not play a second half for us all year. It does not matter if he is "100%". It just isn't going to happen.
Our defense, it turns out, was a paper tiger.
We have no heart. This is the only explanation for us not getting any defensive rebounds. We have the size and athleticism to be great on the glass.
We have no toughness. Everytime we tied or took the lead we gave up an easy basket at the other end. In the last minute with a chance to win we allowed 100% 3 pt percentage, 100% shooting from the field, and gave up 2.67 points per possession.
Flory has not taken the step forward needed from him.
Tiller is not ready to be a big 12 starter.
I suppose, on the bright side, all these issues (minus number 1) are fixable, but as of now it looks like we are a bottom half of the Big 12 team.
Overreaction city, not based on our full season of work.
We still don't know. I wish if he was on a minutes restriction that they'd be allocated out a bit so we have him at the end of the game.
Our defense is really one of the better units in recent memory. Today 1st half was ugly but 2nd half was much better. Against a tall team we had 7 blocks
We have no heart. Really. How is that measured? I'd say we've showed a lot of heart this season in the way we've played against really good teams, even shorthanded without DP.
We have no toughness. One game we were down by 1 with 10 seconds left on the road against a well coached and 1 loss team. Come on man, again how are you measuring toughness? Since the championship, this is the toughest team we've had by far, we've all been saying it. Don't let a bad result (that we win if DP plays) cloud your judgment on this team. They're a fun team to watch and have given us thrills this season we haven't experienced since 22.
Flory has improved in many ways since his freshman year. More minutes sure, but he's been indispensible to this team.
I might agree on Tiller.
There was a lot of negativity on the board today. Disappointing loss for sure. End of the world? Not ready to go there.
Never knew there was a Funny category on the Bucket. Here's a few. What are some of your favorites?
Roman guy walks into a bar, holds up two fingers and says give me 5 beers.
Dyslexic guy walks into a bra.
Skeleton walks into a bar, says give me a beer and a mop.
When they installed artificial turf at KState football the cheerleaders realized they'd have to find a new field to graze in.
Nebraska stressing academics decided to put the letter N on their helmets for knowledge.
Drug dealers in Missouri not so smart. They didn't want to risk jail time so they sent one of their interns down to Mexico to get some coke they could sell. He came back with a couple of 12 packs of Pepsi saying it was cheaper.
I hate it when people use your and you're wrong. There so dumb.
KU wins, first sweep in the little apple since the year before I was born, 1963. They've won 17 of their last 18.
Yeah, even when he had an off game yesterday he got 17 points seemingly almost effortlessly.
The series was started Feb 11 1926 so we're on to the 2nd century of KU-OSU basketball!
@approxinfinity So you're saying Vitale has become a diaper dandy?
There's something about a gut punch loss that makes me philosophical. Because I have to come to grips with the disappointment so that it doesn't drag me down into the dumps I look to so many people and life circumstances that prevents me from feeling sorry for myself. That fact that it could happen again tomorrow or Sunday makes being a fan of two teams all the more 'difficult'. But it is just a game and baseball starts in 2 weeks and i have spring break in 2 weeks, and well, I'll get over it. KU surviving into next week would help. Except for one massive exception in 2022, both of my teams ending the season disappointingly every season. Even the Covid year was a BIG championship for UW and fans were excited for the postseason.
Having been a fan of 3 KU champions and 1 White Sox winner is pretty good though. I consider 1988 to be my championship since I was a senior. That's a memory that has taken me through the tough endings of so many seasons. But I do hope to see a few more before I go on home to heaven.
Horrible. We have 16 teams in the league and only 18 league games. There's a few of those teams I could do without but lets play 24 league games. Lets show the world we're a league that gives their fans important games almost every night of the season. I want to see us play Zona twice, Houston twice. I couldn't care less if we played Cincy or UCF or Utah. I really couldn't care less if we play snooze games against UMKC or OKMC or TAMCC or the Merchant Marine Academy.
And here's what's going to happen. People are going to say those games are important for the team to develop their team unity or strengthen their rotations or they have to save up their health for the postseason. We don't have the same system for our pro sports teams. But college it's ok to play Wyoming School for Baking and you even get credit for a D1 win if it's one of the 380 or so D1 teams.
Not a Jayhawk, but a key player on the tough OU teams of the mid to late 80's. He's much beloved up here in Chicago for his broadcasting Bulls game and his likeable personality.
I like many of you hated that OU team and their coach. They were very cocky but reflected their coach. When we beat them in the championship Billy Tubbs was interviewed and said OU was better than us. But Tubbs wasn't better than Brown, forgetting to use his bench in that game. The narrative going in was OU would run us out of KC yet they were gassed and our 10 man rotation in that game kept us afloat. Stacey King was a part of probably the most memorable play when Danny went on a fastbreak and slowed down til Stacey caught up to him and fouled Danny who made the shot.
When Stacey got drafted by the Bulls I saw him on the news saying he was glad he was coming to Chicago because he should be able to get a lot of endorsements.
But people mature and he turned himself into a likeable personality here who had a catchphrase "give me the hot sauce" when someone made a 3.
KU baseball not ready for primetime
Bill Self sitting next to George Brett.
I really didn't like that send in the first inning that got our guy thrown out at third. Really killed momentum early and bats been quiet ever since.
@stoptheflop I liked that view I saw of the hillside seating in Morgantown. They had a storm today that injured people inside a tent on that hillside.
LOL, game 3 someone has 2 standing room only tickets for 11,000!!
@nuleafjhawk I saw 2 sets of 2 tickets for Sunday on Stubhub. One was for 650, the other like 3000. If you got that sort of dough sitting around donate it to our NIL fund!
