Donald Trump's Public Service Announcement
-
His advice to Americans: use proper hygiene. No explanation of a social distancing policy. Tax breaks and 50 billion dollars for select businesses, blocking all incoming from Europe including goods.
This seems completely ineffective.
-
@approxinfinity You have to remember that there’s no one who knows this virus more than Donny.
-
Democrats are blaming him for not closing the boarders in December. The same ones screaming for open boarders for the last 3 years SMH. You can’t make up this type of stupidity. I really didn’t expect the turd to have any useful info tho.
-
Well look @kjayhawks . We’re past just closing the borders. We are past just quarantining individuals. The disease is spreading in the wild and we need a clearly defined social distancing policy, if not enforced then strongly recommended. He doesn’t want to eat his words about having only 15 cases in the US when he was sticking his head in the sand. He needs to act like a leader and communicate the best policy, which is social distancing.
-
His announcement we’re banning European imports only to tweet almost immediately lol jk is not exactly confidence inspiring. A travel ban and $50 billion in SBA loans is Nero fiddling type stuff.

Problem is you are bashing the president. When the Dem’s party only plan is to listen to the scientist. From everything I’m reading and hearing the scientist and health workers agree with what Trump has done.

Other than allow testing outside the CDC’s purview, making those tests available (Germany has a good one), then announcing a ban on imports only for every related agency to say actually no he totally didn’t mean that. I’m not even sure Trump knows what the administration’s policy is. He’s not exactly geared to govern in crisis mode.
-
@DoubleDD the problem is that every single thing this president has ever said or done is through the lens of what is best for him. Responding to coronavirus cannot be about him. But he makes it about him, choosing self-flattering words and policies. he’s a floundering blackhole that sucks all attention away from the actual issue at hand. It’s absolutely not what we need right now.
-
@DoubleDD Listen to this for an explanation of how our policies are falling short: https://www.nytimes.com/2020/03/12/podcasts/the-daily/coronavirus-pandemic.html
-
And because either Trump can’t read or the White House didn’t understand its own response, we have ish like this happening. https://twitter.com/mmcintire/status/1238019976163995655?s=21

@FarmerJayhawk $20,000… I’d just dig a bunker in France or something.

Just turned on the TV and it looks like President Biden is taking over.
-
H1N1 killed an estimated 500,000 people world wide and over 4,000 in this country. I believe the coronavirus is still below 10,000 globally and less than 100 in this country. Don’t let your political affiliation blind you, he did fart fire nothing during that time tho World health and multiple countries declared it a pandemic. Trump and Obama are both fools to me.
-
I’m not sure why some are upset with the way Trump has handling this situation. Most of these procedures are already put in place. It’s just a matter of following the playbook. The key to handling the spread of the coronavirus, Really most be done at the local level. Trump has given the governors of Washington, and California everything they have asked for. Per the press conferences of these governors.
Heard a presser from KC today. All good stuff. The fight is going to be won with education and on the local levels. Any president can only do so much. The biggest thing a president can do is keep everybody calm. Something I think Trump is doing, and Obama did in his term.

I think not totally botching your Oval Office address and leaving Americans abroad and European officials totally confused about the conflicting information coming out of the WH is a good start.
-
@DoubleDD Serious question unrelated to our differing political beliefs. Do you think this currently is people keeping calm?
-
I think the biggest thing a president can do is set an appropriate tone by speaking clearly and speaking the truth.
That starts with putting the interests of others ahead of his own. It means listening to experts and not dismissing and contradicting them. And it means avoiding over-statements, exaggerations and hyperbole.
I think this president has pattern of behavior that proves he is incapable of meeting ANY of these requirements.
In ANY business in the world other than a family-run business, this kind of incompetence would get you fired.

Yea I do. What else can he do? You have a media basis that attacks him on everything.

Yea I’m pretty sure that Trump listens to experts, but at the end of the day it’s his ass on the line. Just like any president. Problem with today’s political environment? Is if it isn’t one of your own, then you have to get rid of them. No matter how good they have done.
Trump could cure cancer and some would still complain. Let that sink in. Trump isn’t the problem.
-
@DoubleDD Trump certainly isn’t the ONLY problem but arguing he isn’t problematic at this point is pretty absurd.
-
@DoubleDD Also, curing cancer doesn’t absolve you from the responsibility of being a decent human being, which is I think most people’s real problem with Trump.
-
Trump could cure cancer? LOL.
Malignant Narcissist. Familiarize with what that is.

Haven’t you heard? He has a “natural ability.” Like medical knowledge is apparently a genetic trait! He shared this epiphany at the CDC last week.
Watch the video. It’s vintage Trump. At the end, you can see how concerned he is about the numbers.
And these remarks that he made on the south lawn of the WH further illustrate to what lengths he will pursue a selfish agenda to downplay the numbers:
https://www.whitehouse.gov/briefings-statements/remarks-president-trump-marine-one-departure-84/
Oh, I’m sure he thinks he could cure cancer. That’s his problem. Those who believe him… that’s their problem.
I see no evidence that he listens to experts unless it serves his self-interests.
-
@bskeet I appreciated Colbert’s commentary on that:
“Here’s the thing,” Colbert said Monday. “We can criticize Trump’s golfing and tweeting. But when he hunkers down and focuses on the problem, that’s when he really sucks.”
To illustrate his point, Colbert cited Trump’s appearance at the Center for Disease Control in Atlanta on Friday, which included the president claiming he might have a “natural ability” for science in part because his uncle had attended MIT.
“I don’t care how smart your uncle was—epidemiology is not genetic,” a flabbergasted Colbert said on Monday. “You don’t get your mother’s eyes and your father’s Ph.D.—knowledge does not get passed down. That’s why, no matter how much we all know it now, future generations are going to have to learn for themselves that you’re an idiot.”
-
@bskeet I saw that box of rocks
-
I suppose if you grow up in a nepotistic environment, you might have a world view that a Ph.D. is inheritable… Just like all the other resources and entitlements.
-
think trump is doing great job. Sorry.
-
And what would the Manchurian president Biden do ? Oh wait he will not be in charge. My bad.
-
@approxinfinity im not getting updates? Or I would have responded sooner

Sorry had to respond. It’s you and your party that is offering out gifts with no way to pay for them. You know entitlements?
-
Ah I love you guys. Nothing like voting for a president that doesn’t know where he is half the time or who he his talking too. Yet somehow you are going to teach me? Um I’ll pass sorry guys
-
What is really sad? You guys are hoping trump fails. So many Americans can die. So you can get a president more to your liking. So sad
-
Just sad
-
60 million Americans were infected with the swine flu resulting in 274,304 hospitalizations and 12,469 deaths. No media panic no trashing the president Barack Obama and no travel ban. Yet I’m supposed to trust you guys? I’ll pass. I’m not like the black Americans believing in And showing loyalty to a Dem party that has done nothing for them in The history of this country. Other than show up every four years to get your vote.
-
-
So gullible

See this is exactly the problem that I previously stated. Trump is a floundering blackhole that sucks all attention away from the actual issue at hand. I don’t hope he fails. He fails regardless of how I feel. I just want him and this twisted Stockholm sydrome logic to get out of our lives. Do you honestly think I want people to die so we can get rid of Trump? Might want to walk that one back.

I DON’T HAVE A PARTY. The current republicans have made damn sure of that.
Historically, I have voted republican more than democrat.
Open your eyes.
-
@bskeet yep, I personally don’t think a person on the ballot deserves a vote. Vote them all out and start fresh
-
Our two-party system have set up a Prisoners Dilemma. We the people are caught in the middle.
That said, I’m ready to take the devil-I-know-less. (Although, I’ll acknowledge that line of thinking is partly what led Trump to be elected.)
-
You know that website Trump went on and on about today and they even had the flowchart? Turns out it’s not a thing. Like at all. https://www.wired.com/story/coronavirus-donald-trump-google-website/
That the administration can’t figure out what its own approach to this is makes me pull my hair out. It’s not that hard to make sure you’re all on the same page.
-
Sounds like to me they are on the same page. In fact it appears they are changing how America handles these outbreaks in the future. Crazy thing a lot of countries are following suit. Interesting?
-
@DoubleDD we will see, talk is cheap. If we start taking these things more seriously going forward and actually follow up on reliable and safe vaccines that would obviously a huge plus.

Yes they’re on the same page which is why the White House had to say most everything Trump said in his Oval Office address wasn’t correct, then they hype up a website that doesn’t exist in the Rose Garden. I would hope they could at least get the basics right instead of people panicking overseas because they think they can’t get home or going to find a website that doesn’t exist.
