WEST VIRGINIA TODAY
-
The call was because the kicker didn’t pop the ball off the ground first. Unfortunately it was the right call based the replay.
-
Impressed with how many students are still there.
-
Never heard it called before
-
@Texas-Hawk-10 beer
-
Damn it! Awesome call!
-
@Crimsonorblue22 It’s more common on punts. Because the kicker didn’t pop the ball off the ground, the receiving team has to have an opportunity to field the kick just like if it was a punt. Had KU’s kicker popped the ball off the ground first, it would’ve been KU’s ball.
-
The kicking team can catch the kick. Unleash the offense
-
There it is
-
That’s what po’d does!
-
What a throw
-
Against the wind still too huh?
-
D score for us now!
-
Replay confirms that was a dandy throw by stanley
-
@DanR It was the right call. Until the ball touches the ground, the kicking team has to allow the receiving team the opportunity to catch the ball without interference. That ball never touched the ground on that onside attempt, so WVU had to have an opportunity to field it cleanly. It’s the same rule as a punt.
That situation is exactly why kickers usually pop the ball off the ground on onside kicks. It takes away the receiving team’s ability to call a fair catch and it allows the kicking team a better shot at a recovery as well.
-
That pass a thing of beauty, probably the best pass Stanley has made as a Jayhawk.
-
Their qb is getting confident
-
I’d like to see a pick right about now
-
@DanR run back!
-
@Texas-Hawk-are you sure? Never heard of the ball having to hit the ground. BUT, it did hit the WV players hands first. Agree with your initial assessment - BS call
-
@nuleafjhawk I saw somebody pull up the rule
-
@DanR it was an overthrow. Supposed to be a screen, overthrew it by about 40 yards…lol
-
@nuleafjhawk The ball doesn’t have to hit the ground, but taking away the kick catch interference call and the ability to fair catch is why kickers usually pop the ball off the ground onside attempts.
-
Not smart
-
Announcers they r fans!
-
We r going to win this by 1 pt
-
@Crimsonorblue22 9 points.
-
F-WORD
This is like playing Duke. These zebras ain’t gonna let us win.
-
Call it
-
@Crimsonorblue22 told ya
-
Don’t miss a dang thing on us!
-
Dammit!
-
Stanley stared him down the whole time
-
Well, time to find a good movie
-
Time left
-
The refs are costing us badly obvious helmet to helmet and several missed holds on WV.
-
@kjayhawks blatant holds all day but d isn’t doing bad despite that
-
There’s been plenty of holds on KU that haven’t been called either. Charlot was holding on the first TD today and wasn’t called. Refs have been equal on the holds. The targeting is the only really bad missed call today.
-
They r getting tired
-
The ku one play touchdown drive didn’t give the D any rest
-
@DanR Stanley’s pick is what killed the momentum for KU.
-
@Texas-Hawk-10 you are no fun
-
just kidding
-
@DanR The defense was just fine after that Parchment TD. The Stanley pick is what broke them because the defense kept giving the offense opportunities today. That pick took the air out of the stadium.
-
Hey, we have five minutes. Let’s see what happens…. Probably another desperation pick, but maybe a kickoff return for a td?
-
I’d like to see Pooka split out to the same side as Parchment and put one of the in motion.
-
Robinson coming up big this drive.
-
Defensive holding!
-
Why does that ref have rubber bands on his hands?
-
Took parchments jersey off
-
Use a time out
