East coast bias.....again

It’s over. KU might as well quit the tournament right now. We have no chance. Don’t know that writer from Adam, but I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s a Duke grad. It shouldn’t piss me off, but, well, I’m really pissed off from reading that.

  • @wissox I hope our players and coaches are ticked off too brother.

  • @nuleafjhawk I wonder if they read that kind of crap?

  • They sure played yesterday like they may have had heard the Seeya Hall’s trash talk, perhaps this could work as the next chip for us.

Oh and btw… Hope all of you who bet against our guys enjoy another hole in your bracket.

  • Not surprising they don’t consider us. Duke has the high profile talent and may be the best team left in the field. I’m not sure our team can do what it would need to do to beat Puke - rebound, pack the paint and hit a lot of threes. Would love to be wrong but I’m not sure this team deserves being talked about like those other teams because they haven’t proven to be on their level.

  • @wissox

There is no question that Villanova and Duke had impressive wins and so did Kentucky that now has the easier path. KU had two good, solid wins but the writer does not seem that familiar with the opponents and why KU’s wins were not the 20+ point wins the other teams had.

Obviously college basketball is not his forte and the article reflects just that, so take his words for what they are worth…not much. Frankly, I would not bother reading articles from someone that covers primarily soccer.

FWIW, here is his bio from the Yahoo site.

    Henry Bushnell

Henry Bushnell covers soccer – the U.S. national teams, the Premier League, and other top European and international soccer – for Yahoo Sports. He occasionally dabbles in basketball as well. His work has appeared on ESPN Insider, SI.com, SB Nation and elsewhere. He is a Philadelphia native, a Northwestern University graduate, and currently a Chicago resident.

  • @HawkChamp We know too well that early round blowouts, or scares, mean nothing as the tourney progresses.

Last year, we won our first 3 rounds by 38, 20, and 32 pts. Oregon theirs by 16, 4, and 1. Then they handily took us apart by 14.

2003, we destoyed Marquette in the semi by the 4th largest margin in F4 history. I am sure that presaged an easy final–oh, wait, it didn’t.

I am also sure that this writer would have bet his house on overwhelming ACC champ Virginia over barely-getting-in-to-the-tourney UMBC.

Sometimes, previous records mean nothing. We have reason to be wary of those teams because of their huge talent level, but we have some damn good players, too. I doubt if our guys will cower in fear.

Huh, I could have swore we were a number 1 seed going to the sweet 16…

  • Halfway thru the game the statistical projections still gave UMBC less than a 12% chance of winning. I just love statistics that project but mean nothing! This graph is fun.

  • @JayHawkFanToo I saw that bio after I posted the link. If they’re letting him write about the tourney he probably knows enough to write something cogent about the dance. And even though he’s midwestern in residence and education, he’s an east coaster and it showed in that tripe he wrote. I’m sure coach K isn’t letting his kids think they’re the favorites. They’re as scared of us as we are of them I’m pretty sure.

I guess what bugged me is they’re in a bracket with two other blue bloods and they barely mention us and MSU. It shouldn’t bug me, as I can’t take a more whatever attitude like you did. I need to be more like that sometimes!
