Big 12 Tournament of tears
-
Like no offense to Svi and I wish him well but the bench minutes next year going to Garrett/Cunliffe I would be fine with.
-
@kjayhawks that’s the stupid plays I’m talking about. You simply can’t have those Hopefully this will wake them up and they will pull their heads out.
-
And that justifies calling him a dumb SOB?
-
Hopefully got all the post season, end of game, bone head plays out of the way with this game so we can kick some booty in the next one.
-
@KUSTEVE Bugs the crap out of me. I didn’t think KU was going to lose another game. The overall number one seed just went bye bye. And that is worth something. I’m also going to miss the extra attention that being ranked #1 brings. I can never get enough KU bball coverage. Unless it’s the Star…
-
@globaljaybird sure didn’t play like one today
-
@HawkChamp Embarrassing for them or you? This team has NOTHING to be embarrassed about, except maybe our fan base is spoiled rotten, and sometimes we come off pretty ugly with our expectations.
-
@kjayhawks Mason lob was the play that made the difference. If we get that open dunk, we are up by six. May not of mattered though the way we play defense.
-
The one HUGE positive is Graham is OK. I’d trade any number of Big12 tourney games for that. Turns out it was all of them this year.
-
@Lulufulu SOB? Come on, you’re better than that.

The game result finally showed what a lot of people had been saying.

Yep.
-
@globaljaybird LOL.
-
I bumped the Svi is bad thread, if anyone is interested…
-
So if this team falls short of the elite eight I’ll be interested in hearing from the eternal sunshine squad.
-
Everyone’s blaming Svi for a silly foul but DG and Vick didn’t do too much themselves. Svi at least put up 18 DG was ice cold and Vick airballed a 1 foot shot late.
-
Interested so see our match-up(s) for the NCAAT. Feels far away now but it will happen before I know it.
-
Offense wins games, defense wins championships.
Without Josh and Landon in the lineup KU has no chance.
-
@KUSTEVE no them. You are wrong - we should never lose to a team that has lost 12 or so games. We lost to a team that is not that good

Imo Lucas is our best offensive post too. Not because he is the most skilled (that’s probably Bragg) but because he is the smartest and the hardest working. The offense in general flows better with Lucas in the game.
-
Chip on our shoulder now after this, Josh back, everybody rested, Frank with one last thing to prove (making a final four)… I like our chances for the next few games.
(But have to admit I will be crushed if we don’t get to the Elite Eight)
-
I’m a realist KU fan.
-
@BShark oh, probably just the usual " oh the tournament is a crapshoot" crap. When you are better than the opponent, the loss is on you, just like the loss today is on KU. They didn’t care about playing defense and they lost. Unfortunately, they probably will keep doing the same bad defense.
-
@BShark we’ve seen that for two years now. Some don’t recognize the brilliance in his game though.
-
Not sure how anyone can watch this team and not realize Lucas is the best post player RIGHT NOW FOR THIS TEAM but yeah you are right of course.

Pretty much.
-
Only thing worse than losing that game would have been going to overtime.
JJ let the team down big time.
Svi makes the dumbest foul of the year.
Let’s hope this doesn’t hurt their momentum.
-
@BShark At this point in time, Bragg is definitely not skilled.
-
Self looks po’d gives tcu credit
-
The bright side to this is that it won’t affect seeding and we avoid the risk of injury until the Dance. But - and I know I’m a broken record on this - this game highlighted our very real weaknesses and vulnerabilities. We can beat anyone in the country, but we aren’t anything close to a dominant team - we simply aren’t going to blow anyone out. Yes, we can close, but skating close to the edge game in and game out is a recipe for disaster. Worth noting that other teams that are NC aspirants like Villanova, UNC and Oregon blew out their opponents today - and, in UNC’s case, a pretty solid Miami team. They took care of business; we did not. Sure, we were without JJ, but is that an excuse for giving up as many easy points as we did?
Again, I hope this is a wake-up call for these guys that short bench notwithstanding, we can’t afford to coast during games - we certainly can’t afford to give up 16-3 runs and get just 2 baskets in a 10 minute span against an average team.
I remain optimistic, because we can beat anyone, but I won’t be surprised if we lose early, either — unless, all of the sudden, out of nowhere, we find a renewed commitment to playing defense…
-
He is skilled, he just gets in his own way so much at this point.
-
I dont think there is any reason to panic, we didnt have our second best player and DG was off. Maybe because of an injury. I can understand why some of us arent happy, they played harder than we did for most of the game. I’ve said it a thousand times as does coach Self-rebounding is how you tell how hard you played, it 10% skill and 90% want to. I’ve also said the worst thing this team can do is get up early, we have blown leads of 10 points all season and for the second time it bit us in the butt. Hopefully its a lesson, YOU HAVE TO PLAY HARD EVERY MINUTE if you want to win in march period.
-
@DCHawker nice summary-the only thing I would add is that yes we can beat anybody, but today shows that alot of teams can also beat us. just got to play smart for 40 next week and keep playing.
-
Sunshine Crew? Um yea I’ll be here to listen to you explain about how KU Sucks.
-
Lunardi now has us as the 3rd one seed. There is a definite possibility we could lose the one seed.
-
I’ve predicted 7 or 8 losses. Certainly predicted today as a win. I don’t think that’s far off the mark with the statistical profile of this team, and that they have been a bit lucky at times + AFH factor.

Really need DG healthy.
-
I should be glad about this. I won’t have to worry about watching the damn TV all weekend and I might actually get some things accomplished. So - YAY - I’m happy.
Was that convincing?
-
Run, Run, Hide, Hide. The sky is falling all my God we were fooled. KU sucked.
Give me a break. Do me a favor all you naysayers. When KU wins the National Championship this year. Not one word, or post. If you can’t enjoy the up and downs of a great season, then maybe you should look in the mirror.
-
@DoubleDD Michael Jackson. Thanks. Add insult to injury.
-
@BShark just as a reference, watched a Coach Marsha game(cup cake opponent) and with 10 min left Schlockers were up 15 and Coach called a timeout and chewed butt because the team was playing soft. gotta play smart and tough for 40 to win, especially with the target that we have on our back.
-
If KU makes the FF (don’t even need them to win the NC) I’ll take a multiple month breather for you.
-
Just realized JJ will never play a Big12 tourney game. He’ll have to work out any post season jitters in the Dance
-
The first game should be against one of the worst teams KU will have played all year at least.
-
Nay keep posting. I know everybody is bummed. I am too, but I’m excited too. This team has that it thing. I don’t know what you call it. I just feel it.
-
Trust me I would tell you to temper your expectations if thought it was needed. Yet there is something about this KU team I can’t shake.
-
@autohawk I just can’t get enough of that Marsha
-
@DoubleDD I agree. This team WITH Josh on the floor is ultra tough.
This team WITH Josh on the floor can absolutely win 6 more games. 6 more.
This team Without Josh? Middle of the league. Ok maybe top 3 or 4 because BIFM!
But still, TCU just beat us because of Josh’s apparent inability to keep his head screwed on right off the court and SVI’s Hulkamaniac ego showing up at the last second and Hulk Smashing that player, allowing those three game winning free throws.
-
Josh and Mason are the alphas on this team
-
Coach said Vick getting his 2nd foul first half hurt us the most
-
I won’t disagree with that. Foul issues forced more double post play.
-
That’s not why. Forced us to play subs that don’t play much and didn’t give our starters any rest
-
Go easy on Svi. Remember he is still younger than Josh. He cut his teeth in Europe ball. It’s a big change trying to play American ball. In fact I loved that fact he had the tenacity to go up and block that 3 point shot. That doesn’t happen very much. Sadly it didn’t work out for him, but you have to admit for a split second everybody was like Holy Cow Svi blocked it?
