Crazy Crazy

I’m telling you guys, WOW really crazy night - - - AGAIN. - - Have to give all the props to the boys, I mean once again like I said before there is just something about these guys. - -Last night for thirty minutes we basically played like crap. Couldn’t hit a shot, really bad turnover, after turnover, – like Josh had like 7 turnovers, pretty much just playing a horrible game. just muddling around pretty lackluster can’t really put a finger on it, just bad ball.
Then BAM it’s like a voice got into everyone’s ear and said OK enough screwing around, it’s go time and MAN , the switch is turned on and Oklahoma is done.- -Our defense which couldn’t stop a cold almost all night, becomes scary good, unbelievably good. - - Really turned it up. - -Then on the offensive end, shot eck all night and then , LIGHTS OUT 10 straight makes - -Devonte goes out of his mind , LaGerald played really good ALL NIGHT a huge spark, hustles his ass off, and at this point we looked scary - -I mean we looked like we ARE the # 1 team, mercy , mercy. - Realy sad to see Franks last game in the phog what a kid.
This team once again just showed they are really tough, has that never give up, never say die, they just don’t give up , really tough mentality- -comes from our lil bulldog, our tank - -Frank, his mental & physical toughness. Plus the crows - -the atmosphere during this run WOW soo loud, crazy, went to some other sites and other teams fans talking about how they wish their crowd could create that type of atmosphere, just whack.
The only thing that worries me a little is - -We aren’t going to be able to get down like that, that late in the games in the NCAA against really good teams and expect to just keep coming back, we have got to get that turned around, But for last night, the season so far - -love this teams approach, their toughness, it’s time to shut some of these haters up. - -Like I’ve always said, always have always will - -Winners just win & losers always find make excuses other then the REAL EXCUSE - - you got beat. Love this team. - - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

Several young men, maybe as many as 5 or 6 realized that would be their last time playing on James Naismith court together. They have been nearly permanently attached to each other over the last 3-5 years, experiencing every emotion possible, once-in-a-lifetime memories, such as the World Games, public ridicule, and everything else that comes with this kind of brotherhood. Likely most of these kids weren’t ‘with it’ until they were down by double digits and about to end their last home game on a sour note. The back to back 3 from Graham were essentially IV’s of adrenaline and it was all over from there.

Also, it is not ideal to keep getting down in games, but they have kept getting down in big games all year and they keep coming back. It is almost their identity now. They are like Freddy Kreuger or Jason. They do the “slow” walk chasing their running victims and always catch up to them at the end.
-
@jayballer54 Which game are you talking about? Could be the game description for oh, just about any game in the last 2 months!
-
@wissox So very true, and is why I said this team has some kind of mental toughness that has become them - -never panic - -never quit , and I think a lot of that toughness being rubbed off the team comes from our Senior Pg Frank, his toughness mental and physical has rubbed off. - -Although I am not going to ignore the fact by any means just like cocah said you can’t just continue the light switch on anytime you feel like it. We are not going to be able to afford this continued type of play when we get into the NCAA’S and the deeper we go, the more important it gets for this not to happen - Good - -really good teams are not going to allow these kind of come backs to happen.
Although there is no ONE really dominant team, every teams has some very noticeable flaws , as long as we have Frank I take my chances till that final horn sounds. - - ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

Like they don’t care about the current score. Just that they will be the ones with 80 at the end.
How many can you score when KU decides to play high intensity D at the end against your worn out legs?

All great points here !
A) does all these come-from-Behind close game heroics make us tougher, battle tested and able to gut out close tourney games??
Or make us vulnerable to a hot team that out hustles us and keeps hitting shots to the bitter end ???
Let’s hope it’s more A …

From what I’ve seen of this team, we are more likely to win when we are down at first and then must claw back in the game with toughness.
It seems like we are more likely to blow a game if we start out hot and build an early lead. Then we start dropping down our enthusiasm and eventually the other team goes on a run. Then it is really hard for our guys to go back to playing hot again in the same game.

@drgnslayr it is super dangerous to do that against really anybody in the tournament though. There is a lot of truth to it however, That is exactly what happened at home against Iowa State - great first half then forgot to come out of the locker rooms for the second half.
-
@HawkChamp I hear you, I just can’t figure out how you would come out of the locker room and forget about an Iowa state. - I think this is going to be a crazy tourney. – -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

Agree. This team has been a bit lucky so far. Slacking for long stretches against good comp will bite you eventually.
