Conference Race

Yesterday I look at as no blood. The 3 leaders lost at home. I can see 5 losses at least sharing the crown. We have tomorrow’s game, at Baylor, at OSU and WVU at home as the toughest games. Of course at UT and at Tech are always potential pitfalls. Baylor has at OSU, at ISU, and WVU and us at home. WVU has our game as the toughest one. Their schedule is not bad the rest of the way. ISU has at KSU and at WVU. Winning tomorrow would go a long ways and give us some room for slip ups along the way. However,if we lose…I still like our chances. The margin for error just gets thinner.

You could be right about five losses, but that would really hurt our one seed chances. Our guys need to step up and simply beat the teams they are better than.
-
If we win tomorrow, I think we have one more loss at Baylor. But will have to tighten things up and bill needs to spread minutes better.
-
@HawkChamp Agree. Might be tough to get a 1 seed…however, other teams seem to be losing as well.
-
@Fightsongwriter Perhaps we only lose at Baylor. Worried about that game in Stillwater, though. Let’s not share the title and get a #1 seed. But boy, we need to play better defense to do that.
-
@Hawk8086 OSU would be amped for sure if our outright title bid was on the line. The minutes are piling up which is directly affecting the D. Got to get the guard mins down to 30-33. Just gonna have to play Vick and Colby more to steal some mins. Bragg back would be big if coach sees fit.

@Hawk8086 And our margin for error just got thinner. Im back to thinking we arent better than sweet 16 again.
What the hell KU? Loss at home!?
I guess we are spoiled as KU fans. We havent had a home loss since '14.
But still. Those guys didnt come out to play the second half…cept Frank and he turned it over too much, as did the rest of them.
-
@Hawk8086 I think we beat Baylor. I worry about the 3 pt shooting teams getting hot. Before yesterday, our D was pretty good last couple of games. Yesterday we got ISU into 3(?) 30 sec shot violations. Really hard when your 5 man is also your best 3 pt shooter.

@Lulufulu “But still. Those guys didnt come out to play the second half…”.
You hit the nail on the head. Since many of us are lifelong Jayhawk fans, we have seen the difference in how KU teams perform between when they are ready and when they decide to coast and not put much energy into playing. Even the 08 team did that numerous times. Yesterday was a great example of that. Isnt it amazing how all of their “deficiencies” seem to go away when they play with energy?
I understand about the highs and lows of trying to guess how far this team will go in March. I think the key is that all teams have losses they shouldnt have. In 2009, that great UNC team lost their first two conference games, with one of those being at home. It just happens but it never gets less frustrating. Just have to hope they respond well on Monday night.

@Crimsonorblue22 Based on history, I like our chances at Waco better than Stillwater.
