This year is really going to be special! If he matches Wooden’s record it will be as good as it gets! I mean Wooden won like 7 NC in a row and 10 total I think? BUT the field of teams in the tournament back then was 8. I think KU could have been in that field many more times since Coach Self took over and KU would have a few more NCAA championships if that were the case today.

How many times have I read this? Hard to count since many of them have disappeared…
Wooden started the streak, left at 9 and two other coaches got 10 through 13.
It is a school record, not a Wooden record.
Wooden is legendary enough without giving him credit for what he didn’t accomplish alone.
Why doesn’t anyone in the media ever mention: Self already has the record for most consecutive conference titles by one coach.

Some people thought this was cocky and i dont, he’s saying what every team i ever played for or coached stepped on the floor to do-Win! I dont really care about overall record personally. If we cut down nets in April im good with some losses (like OSU, Texas and KSU in 08.
