WHAT DOES CONFERENCE PLAY MEAN TO YOU?
-
Some would like to play the freshmen a lot during Conference play and say that even if we lose the Big 12 because of it it, we would win a National Championship.?? So we should just allow enough losses to take us no lower than a fourth seed. (Just my opposite view sarcasm) As Patton would say, “Conference, by God I love it!”
To me Conference means being ready to play every night, including at Texas Tech.
It means watching some teams on tv playing in a somewhat empty Arena but having it be full when KU shows up.
It always means having 4 Big Monday’s that feature KU for the National audience to watch.
It sometimes involves an ugly court storming.
Things sometimes get personal when we plays each team twice.
Coach Self starts getting technicals.
Freshmen start playing better.
Some Big 12 players besides our own start gaining respect from Jayhawks.
People compare Holly Rowe with other more stripper-like female announcers.

@wrwlumpy I love this! Bring it on!

Conference play is a sort of 2nd season. Lots of ball has been played, but a lot of it relatively meaningless.
Even the MSU loss, looks better and better as time goes on, yet at the time some here were ready to climb the Campanille and commit Jayhawk Hari Kari.
But these games, each one threaten the end of the streak, take on significance.
We have the target on our back.
ESPN makes sure our Big Monday appearances are on the road, although it’s split evenly this year. Upsets of the elite programs make good ratings.
I thoroughly enjoy conference play. Bring it on!

The New Year always means the beginning of conference play to me. I look forward to all of the games, especially the big ones…like tomorrow. KU basketball gets me through the cold winters.

Miles from the KC Star link:
“We want to win (the Big 12),” Miles said. “We want to win the Big 12 tournament. But ultimately, I believe everybody here, and all the fans, we would rather win a national championship than win the Big 12, obviously. But we’re going to keep doing what we do.”

Excited for another year of B12 play!
Hope we get out of the blocks quick and set the rest of the league back on their heels.
Let’s start by being 2-0 after Monday night…

@Bwag thx!

I really wish that was a picture of Cosch Self and then just change the 2015 to 2014, 2013, 2012 and on and on and on.

@JRyman someone here can probably do that.

Probably so. I just know it’s not me.

To be honest Conference play means a lot to me. I know many seems to down play the feat sometimes. But I have always wondered why any Kansas fan would do that. Because Kansas winning the Big 12 streak is amazing. I know everyone and including me wan’ts more NCAA Championship titles. But guess what that ain’t easy because it’s based on seeding and who you play and sometimes a lot of luck! to win it all. I take it one step at a time and right now winning the Big 12 again is now and it is the most important thing. I will worry about March when it comes. I mean years from now when I’m gone if Kansas can tie or beat UCLA mark. This feat would be talked about for years and decades to come. I mean think about it this way the streak right now is what Kansas is talked about the most and every other fan base want’s to end. I personally want it to continue, why would anyone want it to end. Because it would mean more loses to teams we probably all hate in Conference play. I personally want this streak to continue. I say let’s first win 12 in a row and then worry about March.

@Crimsonorblue22 That picture of AFH is a work of art that deserves to hang in the Louvre.

First post to the site, but feel strongly that achieving a very difficult goal (NC) requires a great focus to improve daily and know that you can win every game. A quick review of the past 26 NC champions, 20 won their conference championship that season. Half of those 6 exceptions happened to be UCONN (2004, 2011, 2014). With these odds I would much rather enter tournament as the B12 champion.
